I recently switched to an all Discmania bag, and had the same issue as you, finding an Anvil replacement. The Anvil was my bread and butter for that slot. I bagged the BT Hybrid Anvil as I found it more reliable and more stable than the VIP. I've replaced it with the Razor Claw 2, for now. I find the RC2 a tick slower though. I think the Anvil is more of a 5 speed than 4, and the Tactic seems noticably slower, but more controlable. I do have to put more hyzer on the Tactic to account for the lack of stability compared to the Anvil, but I'm ok with that. The soft tactic gets the nod for approaches I want to sit. I do bag a Mutant when I want more stability and use it mostly for scrambles. Both molds are staying in the bag though. I find I am missing my Anvil less and less.
haha you literally just described how I've been thinking. I put the eco tactic in for approaches like you said, but SAME THING with the rc3. I had to choose between that and the mutant, so for now I've got the mutant next to the exo. But yeah, the more I just force myself to throw those two the more I've found ways to work around not having an anvil.
@@deserttrekmedia there’s times I wish the Mutant had the flare of the justice, but I love that it’s controllable. Occasionally I’ll disc up to the Splice and just power down on a forehand that I don’t need much distance on but still want the flare. I actually find myself reaching for it regularly now in the woods for getting left quick on lefty forehands. The thing I love about the Anvil though is imo it feels like a baby Felon in the hand. The Tactics do not, but I still like how they feel.
Love this channel, also I love the Anvil. I bag a VIP and also have BT Hybrid. BT hybrid does a better job at not skipping and grabs the ground nicely if you need it.

Such a fun disc! Recently got one for fun, and am surprised it’s going in the bag next to my tactics…not a slot I’d think to have more than one disc in. But where I am we have a lot of short 200’ish woods lines and I’ve found uses for it all over. Also love the way it crumples to the ground like a mini firebird.
That's a pretty cool (and to me relevant) comparison. I have noticed that on approach forehands, when I get the Mutant out on anny, it dumps and doesn't move (RHFH) right enough for the shot in my mind. So I kicked it out in place of the justice. But the justice is just a slight bit too beefy for that spot too, haha. I think if the justice beats up a bit more, it'll be perfect, but who knows. Great video, looking forward to the next one!
Yeah that is the only downside to the mutant is the way it just dies trying to fight out of the anny lines. Other than that I've just forced myself to figure out my game with it in the bag and so far it's not been bad. And thanks man!
I might be getting a Mango for that slot. I haven't thrown one yet but I hear good things about it. I have previously used an Anchor in that slot. I got frustrated after all my 3 fade mids beat in and now I don't have any in the bag. I have some prodigy mids that I just got but they don't have a 4 fade. I don't think they even have a 3 fade... I should really get that mango. ATM I just use the prodigy A series discs. I like the feel of them. The release that I get with them is very nice. Break from the hospital. Been there done that. It gets pretty boring in there. I hope it all went well. It looks like a lovely day over there.

The Mutant reminds me a bit of my Yikun Crossbow. It definitely is not meant for the majority of shots but when it's needed you're *really* happy to have that thing. Believe it or not though the Crossbow has even less glide 😂 you can almost throw it vertical on forehand and it will still fight out of the Annie and spike into the ground. I probably bought it a bit too soon for being a beginner but I do see a lot of uses for it.
Yeah, my biggest hesitation was that it wasn't going to glide like the anvil, but the more research I did the more I can't wait to see discmania release the MD5 again!!! But now that I've just put the mutant in the bag I am starting to get the hang of it and change my game to match what disc can do. Let me know when you get the discs in the mail! I'm sorry the sensei has a little chunk out of it and the method has the previous owner's ink on it :/
I had a shop that was willing to sponsor me, but they didn't carry trilogy and when I first signed with them they gave me like 20 discmania discs so I figured it was better for me to switch over altogether. Honestly, both companies have such good discs to choose from so I don't think it was a loss choosing one over the other. For me it was just easier access and more opportunity for free plastic if I carried discmania. What do you throw?
Your mystery box Mutant is cool but I’d lose it here in no time (lots of woods). Great review and the comparison between ground play is especially helpful. I think the tactic/rc3 fits the same slot for closer shots plus it’s a more useful disc in general. On the further shots I think I can get to the same spot using less effort with an FD. The mutant is still a cool disc, but not one I see myself bagging.

I just really want to need to throw this clear mutant so I am trying it out for a few weeks in place of the anvil. And you're right about the more effortless shots with others discs. The mutant takes some get up to get it out there.
