I’m happy that the only change to the Ultra 2 was a black option. It is a great watch already and offering the PVD coating for no extra cost has to be a win for those who were complaining that black wasn’t an option. Personally although I think the black looks cool, the native brushed titanium finish is better. A great move by Apple.
How did you scratch your watch so bad? I drive a garbage truck and my watch gets abused but I barely got a scratch on my case. And my screen is still immaculate!!!
I have the original Ultra, and the other day I got the Ultra 2 Black with the titanium band. Learning how to work the band took a little but of time, but other than that, it's great.
As tempted as I am. I’m gonna stick with my titanium ultra 2. I feel like the black is going to make it look like every other Apple Watch people wearing out there
On the one hand I'm gutted that there's no Ultra 3 this year but on the other hand, I am glad that Apple didn't just make some tiny improvements that are almost unnoticeable and then brand it as the Ultra 3. I think they are working on something bigger for next year and they need more time to make it happen.
Old Ultra 2 will get tides and apnea, so the ONLY difference is…. Well, it’s black. Lol😂 if anything the old one is better because it has blood oxygen. There’s no mention of the new Apple Watches having blood oxygen 😂
Blood oxygen measurement is still missing in the new devices. I think that’s quite the drawback, considering they are introducing sleep apnea but no way to see what your blood oxygen has dipped too. Also a mark against Apple in the Garmin Apple feature matching contest.
I’ve had 4 Apple Watches but always ended up going back to Garmin. For trail/ultra runners the Apple Watch isn’t quite there. Currently on the Fenix 7x but looking at the price point of the Fenix 8 I’m desperate for Apple to get it right.
Question: ULTRA2 or 10 Series? What would be best for a runner / daily casual and what are the differences? Currently Fenix 6x Pro wearer but I’m getting older and so are my eyes.
unless you care about battery life just go with the Series 10. the extra weight of the Ultra 2 would be very annoying when you are running, especially daily. so as long as you make sure to charge it every night the Series 10 would probably be more suitable. though keep in mind that the Ultra 2 does have nearly double the battery life and would take a ton of abuse like a champ, while the Series 10 is a pretty fragile watch.
I had the chance to test the Apple Watch Ultra Black in-store and noticed something intriguing. I used some sharp keys to scratch the surface a bit more aggressively than usual. At first, a mark appeared, but when I rubbed it with my finger, 90% of the scratch disappeared almost immediately. The scratches weren’t entirely gone-if you knew where to look, you could spot them. But overall, with normal wear and tear, it seems like the scratches won’t be too obvious. I feel like this really needs a more in-depth test to understand how it holds up in the long run. I’m torn between getting the Silver or Black version, but I’m leaning toward Black. If I knew how durable it really is, it would help finalize my decision. I think whoever does the first proper scratch test of the Apple Watch Ultra Black is going to get a ton of views. There’s a lot of curiosity around this!
You should also watch out for the Milanese loop. It's an interesting conundrum. Titanium has poor wear resistance. It will even readily weld itself with not that much friction. It scratches easily. So, a surface treatment to improve wear resistance makes sense (and AFAIK even the "natural" version has a surface treatment to make it more scratch resistant). But! Milanese loop with DLC finish is prone to scratching everything it touches. Including other surfaces with DLC treatment or sapphire glass. It has plenty of edges and very hard surface treatment. It's going to be similar story with edges on the body where it interfaces with a strap. Even stainless steel Watches were good at scratching lugs on straps.
Assuming blood oxygen not returning anytime soon? Liking the black but happen to have SpO2 on my current Ultra and trying to decide if worth parting with that health metric just for new color.
I confess I ordered the ultra 2 black with titanium band. Looks pretty sharp. Also the series 10 jet black slate link band. Another great look. Apple fan boy confessions 😊

In the US, no, but otherwise, fine.
Why won’t Apple give us the gold version of the Hermès watch with gold bands to match.🤔
Bit of a shame really as i was really looking forward to a new Ultra. Although the new Colour is very nice isn’t enough for me to replace my series one. Thanks for the video though buddy.
Still no spo2, last year's SIP.
I have had it for a year.. no scratches and I walk outside and have dropped it at least twice.
Edit: I’ve had it since it came out in 2023.. not the new _finish_
Sort of a joke. I was hoping to update from the Gen 1 Ultra, but why would I?
same here. i like the black, but it’s no reason to upgrade this year.
Great, so invest the money instead
Titanium looks better
So basically it’s just a new colour as everything else will work on last years ultra
Why is there no videos on the ultra 1 vs ultra 2 black? They all are just 2 vs 2
I will just wait for the 3 instead
Not a fan of the new milanese loop. looks harder to adjust.
