I’ve had my Apple Watch Ultra since its initial launch, and I absolutely love it. I would classify the Ultra as a top of the line smartwatch that contains many of the best features of a sports watch. This is a watch that works well on the trails and in the office, especially with the wide selection of bands to meet the occasion.
For trail running, the Alpine Loop is an absolute must. The trail loop is great is great in the gym, but it's come off a few times while trail running and rock scrambling. I still have the Ultra 1 for about two and a half years and have no plans to replace it anytime soon.
My series 4 stainless steal costed $800. It was lasting only about 9-12 hours. This year I finallllllllly decided to upgrade to the black ultra 2. I loveeeeee the huge difference. Even though it’s huge on my small wrist, it lasts foreverrrrrrr 3 days without charging it. I freaking love it. I don’t sleep with it on, no thanks. Just wear when I’m out and about.
I’ve had my series 2 for about 3 months. Been a game changer. Sometimes give it a full charge and leave the phone at home. As long as I got my talk to text and my phone calls on the go I’m good. Love the look of the Ultra 2. Got 3 bands. Alpine trail and the blue surf band.
Very cool. Glad to hear you have been enjoying the Ultra 2. It is a great watch. It is nice to have the battery to be able to leave the phone at home. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Great video mate , I haven’t worn a watch for years, mostly because I’m a clumsy old bugger that manages to break watches with alarming speed, I have a draw full deceased watches from my younger days. I have been threatening to get a a more robust adventure smart watch for some time. The one thing I don’t think you mentioned unless I missed it , was Apple Pay , this is a feature I use all the time on my IPhone , I’d be lost without it , I’m old , I forget to grab my wallet, I rushed out of the house the other day and left my phone at home ( the joys of getting old😊). People who think the Apple Watch Ultra is big clearly never wore watches much. A Rolex submariner is as big a Casio G shock is bigger a TAG is as big or bigger. End of the day I think everyone complaining it’s big just aren’t watch people and I disregard their opinions
I can appreciate what you are saying. That is a great point about watch people and non. I have a TAG watch that is way heavier and bulkier than my Ultra. But people don't think about the weight and size of those watches because that is just how expensive watches are. I do think that the beefier metal bands that come with nice watches like Rolex, TAG, etc., play apart in making them not look as bulky. Apple always shows a chunky watch with a relatively thin band. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.
You’re comparing a Rolex to a Apple watch.. I actually like the fact that it’s bigger but I think most people in the world have never had a Rolex even they are watch people
@@2trillfortv840 well the Apple Watch Ultra is designed for the people who would want or need a dive watch or a more rugged outdoor type watch and like large watches so it’s a more fair comparison IMO than comparing it to the normal Apple Watch with a size and design that would better compare to like a Movado Museum series or similar dress watch. While I understand why the comparison is drawn between the normal Apple Watch and the Ultra they are really two very different products designed for very different people. It does not make one better than the other but rather offer some impressive tech to people who want totally different specs and stylings.
I love my ultra, nearly 2 years on and not a mark on it , I walk and cycle quite a bit so that’s my action button (although you can have that as a watch face complication) but see it’s uses, plus I tend to buy generic bands from eBay which to be honest are pretty much perfect and I have a good selection 😁👍
Thanks for the excellent video, Craig! I’m trying to decide between a Series 9 Stainless Steel and an Ultra 2. I’ve found the earlier models of both watches with the blood oxygen sensor enabled. The price difference now is $200 (both in new condition). Currently, I have a Series 6 Stainless Steel. I tried on the Ultra 2 and the only issues for me would be the Digital Crown rubbing slightly on my skin when I use it and the bulk/weight of the watch. My existing watch bands would also work well with the Ultra 2. What do you think?
Still rocking the Ultra 1 and still loving it. I really want the faster Siri in the S9 SIP but not willing to pay just for that. I will wait for the Ultra 3.
Nice. It’s a great watch. I am with you on watching for the Ultra 3. Apple could surprise everyone and keep the Ultra 2 next year. Thanks for watching.
I cannot choose between the 46mm Series 10 Titanium & Ultra 2 Satin Black. The price is basically almost identical, I wanna know which one you recommend. Thanks
That is a tough one. Both are heavy duty titanium and have sapphire screens. Both screens are about the same. I think it comes down to the look you prefer and the feel of the watch. The series 10 is a more compact design. It does have a newer chip, but I don’t think that is too important. It also has a new screen technology. But the satin black is awesome. If I were to buy one, I would go with the Black Ultra. It looks like a more expensive watch and looks heavy duty. I also like twice the battery life. I personally would be nervous about the black. Only because it’s black. Apparently it is really heavy duty. I would expect to be. If you can, try each of them on. I think the Series 10 will be more comfortable. Because of its size. You are not going to go wrong with either one. Both are so close this year. It becomes looks, feel and battery life.
@@CraigsTechTalk okay so if you are get to buy one, You’ll pick Ultra 2 Black am I correct? Btw thanks for the reply!! I’m hitting that subscribe button thanks to your kindness & explanation!

If you can’t try on the ultra, make sure you buy it and can return it. I would hate for you to now like the feel and be stuck with. There is a significant size and difference in feel. But the Satin Black Ultra is badass. Good Luck
I´ve been using an Gear S3 Frontier since 2017...and is still going strong as brand new. I simply dont get the need of buying new versions if "old" still works and really the new dont had up something really much better.
I don't think it is worth the price difference if battery life is good on the Ultra 1. I kept my Ultra 1 because there was not enough reason to upgrade.
When I was buying my first Apple Watch, I went in my local Apple Store to try on all models, colours and sizes. I ended up getting a Nike Series 7 41 in Starlight. The bigger Watches just didn't suit my wrist. Thanks for the content.
Thanks for watching the video. That is great you went and tried the different models and sizes. That is the way to do it. An aluminum Apple Watch isn't light and small enough for anyone. The ultra, you have to know you want it. Enjoy your watch.
I was waiting for an Ultra3 :( but since we didn't get one, my mouse was hovering over the buy now for the Ultra2 but I couldn't do it, without the extra sensors, larger screen, better viewing angles, faster charging and smaller / more comfortable feel, especially at night, I went with the series 10. In battery tests the series 10 seems to last as long as an Ultra1 and about 30% less than an Ultra2 which is a nice bump over previous models.
I've had the Ultra first gen since it's release, I purchased it because I work a hands on job and kept scratching the screen of my previous watch. I have managed to scratch my case however the ability to put on tempered glass screen protectors because it has a flat screen is a game changer, I've smashed about 6 screen protectors in the last 2 years but my watch screen is in perfect condition. My only problem is with the bands, the bands are trash unless you sit at a desk all day, I have destroyed an alpine loop and a trail loop in the 2 years I've had it. I went back to Apple with my original alpine loop that started fraying in 3 months and they refused to replace it which doesn't sit well with me considering I was sold a rugged watch that I intended to abuse, that being said they will probably get me for the new titanium band because the watch is great.
I appreciate you sharing your experience. Sorry to hear about the bands. I can see what you are saying if you work with your hands a lot for your job. I can only speak as one of those desk people. 😀 It is so nice that there are so many heavy duty third party alternatives. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for the video! I was trying to get the information and it’s exactly what I needed! Im going to get the ultra 1 now and until they release something really different I won’t upgrade 😊
Thank you very much. You are welcome. I am glad that you enjoyed it. If you can get a good deal on an Ultra 1 go for it. The Ultra 2 added a processor change (Minimal) and a pinch gesture. I hope you enjoy the Ultra. Thanks for watching.
There is not a lot of change with the 2. If the watch is in good shape, $350 sounds like a good deal. The $800 Watch becomes closer to $1000 with tax and if you add Apple care.
If you're in the United States, go with the Ultra 1 as you will have a working Blood Oxygen sensor. The Ultra 2 Blood Oxygen functionality has been disabled in the US due to a patent lawsuit. I've had my Ultra 1 since launch and it's still going strong with 95% battery health as of today.

That said, the Watch Ultra is the better buy but only when comparing to the Stainless Steel which is the model I used to buy due to its durability (hard to scratch and damage those!) but they are so close to the Ultra price in the UK that it makes the Ultra a no-brainer. I was intending to look at the Ultra 3 but only if they released hypertension monitoring - seems they arent and the difference is going to be next to nothing from the ultra 2 which in itself was next to nothing from the ultra 1. Seems my ultra 1 lives to fight another day after tomorrow.
Oh and p.s. my ultra in the UK still has Blood Oxygen readings. I know in the US they cant anymore but has that spread worldwide for new watches? I dont want to give up my Ultra 1 if it means losing blood oxygen. Anyone know what the situation is with this? I find it incredible that Apple seem happy to ditch a big feature rather than make a deal with the IP owner.
Thanks for sharing. The titanium 46mm is a lot more compelling. The larger screen and titanium finish are a nice upgrade. I can understand the bulkiness of the Ultra. Now the 10s screen is bigger than the ultra.

Yes it is, good eye. It is a Lego model. It is a great looking car. Sounds nice to have a real one. Except for the maintenance and ride comfort compared to a modern car.
this was the best review of the ultra/regular watch use case I have seen and I've watched several as I don't have an Apple Watch and am considering one for my golf app that runs on my iPhone.
Buy an iWatch , you won't regret it. I am still running the 6th series iWatch , it is off my wrist only for charging and when I have my shower. Battery health 84%.
That is so kind of you to say. I am glad you enjoyed the video. If you already have a potential use for it with the golf app, that already adds more value than just checking time, notifications and other features. I say go for it and take advantage of the return policy. If you are not satisfy with the product return it. I don't want people to abuse returns. But this is why they are here in my opinion.
Thank you very much. That is a great point. I hadn’t really thought about it. I am so use to the Apple Watches water resistance for everyday task, i totally forget to mention it. For swimming I don’t wear. The wet sports and trail loop are annoying.
Had my ultra for almost 2 years now, and I agree with your assessment of the watch. I scratched both case and screen on my S4, SE and S7, and I refuse to use a protective case. The only S10 interesting to me is the titanium version. As the Ultra is quite bulky. But I'm not sure I can give up the 2-2.5 day battery life on the Ultra.
There is nothing to be sad about the titanium S10 will be great. The display is bigger than the ultra now, the watch is thinner, the titanium finish is strong and you have the sapphire crystal. Only thing you are missing is the extra battery life. I would even say now the only real difference other than look is $100 more for the extra battery life. That was not the case a year ago. Enjoy your new watch. It will be awesome
I have two Series 8's (to rotate because of battery) and a 9 that I shouldn't have bought. They might be my last, really don't like any of the Apple watch faces. Using a Chinese SKG ID208 on wrist and Fitbit charge 4/Versa 4 (rotate) above ankle for steps and miles only. Almost forgot, Ultrahuman Air which replaced my Apples.
Sorry to hear the battery hasn’t cut if for you. If the other devices work well for you, it definitely will save you from Apples prices. Thanks for watching.

I preordered the black ultra 2. my series 9 battery life has absolutely TANKED to the point that I have to make sure I leave the house in the morning at 100% AND charge it half way through the day if I want to make it through my evening workout. Also, it's kinda useless if my phone isn't right next to me. GPS will be nice.
I like the 2 Apple Watches. But I don't have an Iphone, so GPS/Cellular is no good for me. I have a Samsung Android phone and just knowing Apple's history they will never make the watch be able to link to my Samsung!
Craig, that's the problem with Apple. They force you into buying their products because they work together. I can purchase a Smart Watch that works with both IOS and Android. And it is only 59.00. And the big difference is that you are not paying for the Name "APPLE"!
I sold it because of the battery. Too weak for my needs. Got a Garmin Epix 2 pro 51. Amoled display, tons functions and it lasts from 11 to 30 days. Wake up Apple!!!
It was a disappointing event. I think phone is going to be key for Apple intelligence. From what I am seeing pretty much any watch should be good since the phone is doing the heavy lifting.
Would have bought this watch if it could work with android. It's perfect for me as a casual runner - it's battery and cellular capability, the design is the best. Such a shame apple is such a garbage company with their business practices and totalitarian software ecosystem. The US government is suing them exactly for this, but i am skeptical it will improve anything. I hope garmin simply clones the design and cellular call/receive; that will be perfection. Btw, for trail/sweaty things why not use the silicon band (the fabric one doesn't make sense in such conditions)?

Never had an Apple Watch
Thanks for your vids!
Would never get one then I got the ultra and I love it. I wouldn’t buy a watch I couldn’t track sleep with and the battery life is good enough with the ultra
@@frankiew1922 good to know!
I lead a pretty busy life between family, day job, my own growing business and still trying to exercise regularly 😮💨.
So I need all the help I can get(Apple Watch) to help me keep up with tasks and the last thing I want is one more device to regularly be thinking about charging
There is no V3. They keeping V2 for another year.
@@jkecollins just saw the announcement…. Seems it’s still a stronger device than the new 10 right?
@@jmclane27 yep. I love my Ultra. I would be cautious of the new black colour however, who knows how resistant to scratching the paint off it actually is.
Craig is that a 68 fastback Mustang behind you?
Yes it is, good eye. It is a Lego model. It is a great looking car. Sounds nice to have a real one. Except for the maintenance and ride comfort compared to a modern car.
12:33 First time viewer of your channel! Love this and my thoughts exactly!!!
The Ocean Band COMPARED to this on Is Pretty JUNky,
if you're gonna get it,
I Recomend getting a size way wider than what you'd normally get
Thanks for sharing your advice. I am excited to try out the black sports loop to freshen up my Ultra. Thanks for watching.
To justify the price, it has a longer battery life, and most of the functions must work perfectly without a phone..😅
It would be nice to be completely independent of the phone.
this was the best review of the ultra/regular watch use case I have seen and I've watched several as I don't have an Apple Watch and am considering one for my golf app that runs on my iPhone.
The Series 6 and all the Apple Watches from Series 4 on have been awesome. Glad to hear you are still getting use out of yours.
Great content. I'm surprised you didn't mention the water resistants
How about the trade in value between the two. I did not get much on the regular watch when I upgraded in the past. It’s time to upgrade :-)
The trade in value wasn’t looking great in my opinion. It seemed low. I only checked on the series 9.
Ill buy the smaller titanium s10 watch, ultra is to big for my wrist sadly 😢
There is nothing to be sad about the titanium S10 will be great. The display is bigger than the ultra now, the watch is thinner, the titanium finish is strong and you have the sapphire crystal. Only thing you are missing is the extra battery life.
I would even say now the only real difference other than look is $100 more for the extra battery life. That was not the case a year ago. Enjoy your new watch. It will be awesome
Cap, watch and band look brand new
I don't know why ultra 2 or Apple Watch 9/10 features can't come to ultra 1 which is more capable than Apple Watch 9/10
I have two Series 8's (to rotate because of battery) and a 9 that I
shouldn't have bought. They might be my last, really don't like any
of the Apple watch faces. Using a Chinese SKG ID208 on wrist
and Fitbit charge 4/Versa 4 (rotate) above ankle for steps and miles only.
Almost forgot, Ultrahuman Air which replaced my Apples.
Sorry to hear the battery hasn’t cut if for you. If the other devices work well for you, it definitely will save you from Apples prices. Thanks for watching.
no 2 inch series 10 watch face - apple ultra still the best
Got the Ultra 2 when it released last year and it’s still at 100% capacity 👍🏻 🔋
I love my ultra 1 and oxygen still working..
Show off with your oxygen sensing 🤣 Glad to har you are enjoying your Ultra. No reason to upgrade still. Thanks for watching.
Not much has changed (👍), so I agree, Craig. Love my original AWU. 😉
It’s such a good watch, no need to change. I can’t even justify buying one for the channel. Thanks for watching.
My v1 ultra still good as new and I torture it. Great decision
Glad to hear that. It’s nice to see an expensive purchase hold up like the Ultra. Thanks for watching.
It's a excellent watch but im happy wiht my galaxy watch ultra ❤
How is battery life after 2 years
My battery health drop from 100 to 93%
I wear my ultra it almost round the clock.
@@zurielsss still 2 day watch?
@@TH-camuseritis more or less 2-3 days.
If I go to the gym and track my workout it burns battery a bit faster, otherwise at least 2 days. I also turned off always on display but the watch wake up when I lift the watch face towards my face.
If I use low power mode I can drag it to 4-5 days
I preordered the black ultra 2. my series 9 battery life has absolutely TANKED to the point that I have to make sure I leave the house in the morning at 100% AND charge it half way through the day if I want to make it through my evening workout. Also, it's kinda useless if my phone isn't right next to me. GPS will be nice.
Very cool you are going black. Sorry to hear your 9 has been that bad with battery. Enjoy the ultra. It’s great.
I like the 2 Apple Watches. But I don't have an Iphone, so GPS/Cellular is no good for me. I have a Samsung Android phone and just knowing Apple's history they will never make the watch be able to link to my Samsung!
Unfortunately I don’t see the Apple Watch coming to Android. Thanks for watching.
Craig, that's the problem with Apple. They force you into buying their products because they work together. I can purchase a Smart Watch that works with both IOS and Android. And it is only 59.00. And the big difference is that you are not paying for the Name "APPLE"!
Pros of the apple watch ultra, it can go into the sauna. Im sold let me buy one
I think the watch band might be smelly with sweat and not dry soon.
I sold it because of the battery. Too weak for my needs. Got a Garmin Epix 2 pro 51. Amoled display, tons functions and it lasts from 11 to 30 days. Wake up Apple!!!
If you just need gps and battery then yes. But Ultra are more than that
Why you should buy The Crew 2, its only one dollar bro
I just bought this Facebook market $500 😎
Anyone noticed that the sound (voice) is kind of weird?
I didn’t notice anything. Thanks for watching.
Sorry, not until they make a smaller version. Because I can't grow my wrist size?
No thanks.
sorry i mistook you as Elon Musk until i click and watch this video LOL 😂
But then when the video started, you then realized I am definitely not rich, but am better looking than Elon Musk? 😂 Thanks for watching.
i’m wondering why I bought mine.
Sorry to hear it hasn’t been worth it for you.
Umm above the crown?
It's too big

PSA: wait for the next gen let’s see what “Apple Intelligence” features we get with the new one. This ultra will age real fast after today, lol.
PSA: turns out it was a disappointing release 💀😂
It was a disappointing event. I think phone is going to be key for Apple intelligence. From what I am seeing pretty much any watch should be good since the phone is doing the heavy lifting.
👍🏻
Would have bought this watch if it could work with android. It's perfect for me as a casual runner - it's battery and cellular capability, the design is the best. Such a shame apple is such a garbage company with their business practices and totalitarian software ecosystem. The US government is suing them exactly for this, but i am skeptical it will improve anything. I hope garmin simply clones the design and cellular call/receive; that will be perfection. Btw, for trail/sweaty things why not use the silicon band (the fabric one doesn't make sense in such conditions)?
This watch came out in September of 2023. How is this 2 years later?
Wrong, the ultra was introduced in 2022.
@@CraigsTechTalk yeah I read the title wrong. I thought u were talking about the ultra 2 😅
@Daniel-s9w4o thanks for the follow up. I can see what you mean with the title. The 2 can be put next to the Ultra or Years. Stupid title 😀
