    0.01 to 3:45 Introduction.
3:35 to 15:25 Keith Ward rejects Biblical inerrancy citing a serious error in the Bible.
15:25 to 35:05 Was Jesus mistaken about his Second Coming? Who was Jesus - a god or a man?
35:15 to 57:20 Ward states that there was a radical change in Christian beliefs in the very first generation
57:20 to end Keith Ward says Muhammad was a genuine prophet of God and nearly all of his Christian theologian colleagues think so too!

There’s a new “chapters” feature in YT which allows the marking of different sections of the video directly overlaid on the video itself for easy browsing. Perhaps worth looking into that.

Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Outwardly pretending to be Christian leader deceiving the congregation to take a salary. Keith Ward puts himself above God by suggesting Christ is mistaken and bible is errant. God said He would preserve His word and God doesn’t lie. Keep going Mr Ward that way you will earn a greater damnation.

Yet Muhammad turned just about everything the Torah prophets did and said on their head, the Quran is literally a book of the most extreme plagiarism in existence, stealing from multiple sources, not least the Greek scientific observations 1000 years earlier in it's absolute desperation to try to convince the reader of it's divine origin which is riddled with fallacies, the haddith even steals a phrase of Sun Tzu of ancient China 800 years earlier, there is Zoroastrian story, Arab & Jewish a well as Christian Gnostic tales in islam also Hindu influence, it is hashed together and badly, so much so it has failed to convince millions and millions of muslims would have left centuries ago if were not for the most extreme ostracizing and cult attitude to apostasy with 18 countries that still have death sentence for it and countries that have imprisoned and tortured apostates.

Well .. this is exactly the difference between the level of an islamophobic person and the most learned people of the scriptures ...
You just hatepreach and ignoring everything was discussed in this amazing and enlightening lecture!
How about we engage in something meaningful other than making stupid claims without evidences!?
If you can't.. please just vanish from the world or do something good in your miserable life 🙄
Just a little respond to the stealing point...
Well .. when Jesus repeated the SHAMA .. was he a thief?
Your answer would be of course no .. he just was confirming the previous message of prophet Moses..
Well .. thats exactly our position
That Mohammed was confirming the Truth in the previous scriptures ... and the fact that we also see correcting and rectifying of some ideas in the previous scriptures shows that Mohammed didn't just copy_paste as you Claim .. otherwise we would've seen exactly the same message as it is in the previous scriptures ... in islam we see a consisting message that was given to all previous prophets .. which is Tawheed (absolute monotheism) that Abraham preached all the way down to Mohammad ... even Jesus confirmed it by repeating the Shama.
Stop this hateful behaviour towards Muslims and reason with us instead of copy_pasting stupid claims as you did in your comment .. at the end of the day we all wanna be at the side of God and inter his paradise ... may God guide us all to the truth ...
      Peace ✌

Because God promised to preserve His holy word and God can absolutely do that. The bible is the inerrant word of God infallible and without error. I trust and believe every word, event and prophecy. I believe we are nearing the end of the world and the Antichrist will come to power in a totalitarian world government and fake universal religion. The bible describes a great falling away from faith exactly as we see from this blogger and supposed apex Christian both deny the fundamental doctrine of the Bible. Men have made corrupt versions but these are easy to spot and filled with errors. Why do they copy the Bible? Because it’s genuine article and no one would bother copying a fake. These people earned themselves eternal damnation
      Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

God created humans so they surrender and submit and worship, to follow each order and obey and avoid sins, God doesn't accept the work of man when its not correct meaning not the way Allah sent it down and if not pure meaning man instead of being loyal to his creator he lower the most high and rich and join his level with his creation, having manners and being lovely are sure characteristics that God loves and are infact the characteristics of people of heaven, but a set of wheels without a mobile body won't take you on the road, the path to Allah is straight and has no turns and gates, don't be deceive by outside look when interior is broke, even satan may he be cursed addressed Allah with speech worth of Allah's sovereignty, but doesn't matter? When he is our worst enemy? Who knew we would learn a thing or two from Iblises misery, to address God respectfully when we are at our most miserable state but the real lesson here if Allah orders you to submit , you say Olrighty my almighty.

Keith Ward, as much humble a man can be. Such a gentlemanly discussion that you have presented us with today, dear brother Paul! Love you for that.
The news that Sir Keith Ward and most of his fellow Christian theologians believe in the fact that the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was indeed a prophet of God and the revelation that he(saw) received was indeed from the Almighty, is quite uplifting for me as a Muslim.
I can only pray and hope that he receives Allah's hidaya and comes to the fold of Islam.
I also hope that he shares his new knowledge regarding Islam and its prophet (saw) so that his non-theologian Christian followers now can look at the matter in positive light. And it sure will bring the followers of both faith much closer together.
Finally, I pray for you my dear brother Paul so that you live a long, prosperous, happy and pious life. Aameen. ❤️🤲

Brother Syed, there are millions of people on the planet who say that they are muslims, yet they don't pray, they don't pay zakat, they do not fast in the month of Ramadan, they do not have the intent to do the Haj. They are muslims all right, they are "bad" muslims.
Using the same standard, I would say that Prof Ward is indeed a muslim (because he believes that prophet Muhammad (saw) is a genuine prophet of God and he believes that there is One God.....so he is a muslim, a "bad" muslim.

      Aren't we all,
Especially those of us who justify our own actions, or by claiming our own prayers, zakat and fasting can save us.
When these things are only ever for our own benefit, not for Allah who has no need of them.
To know that there is no complution in religion takes on another meaning, taking things too far, looking from the other wrong side of the same fence they have crossed over to. The Gog and the Magog, when the truth was always the middle way inbetween the two extremes.
The biggest mistake someone claiming to be a Muslim can make is to think like that, that they are saving themselves by doing these actions, they have already gotten the benefit of what they do by telling others who can see how great they were.
It is what is in the heart that makes someone a true person who is submitting to their Creator, all other things can be forgiven, but not a black self-centred heart that only sees themselves as righteous.
The whole point of life is to become grateful for the life each of us have been fore-given. That's is our re-spons-ibility.
I feel so sorry for those entitled people who claim to hold Islam hostage and claim to be true Muslims, when in fact they are the ones destined for the hellfire.

@Rayrad 696 If you are right about Jesus Christ, then your god is the only weakest god known today by human being like us because your god is the only god that was killed by his men[his own creation!]and also your god is the most stupid god because your god can only think of one thing, that is to die on a cross and can't think of other alternatives except dying on a cross when solving his people's [his worshipers!]problems!.
Is it logical that in order for your god to save the whole world, your god needs to die!
Is it logical that that the only things that Your god knows is only to "die" on a cross when solving his creations' [worshipers?!]problems/sins.
Is it logical that your god [Jesus Christ!]was only "created" during the Council of Nicaea in 325AD where other great Prophets like Adam, Moses, Abraham, etc never "worship" him as god!.
Even the Mother of God[Mother Mary]never worship her son Jesus Christ as god or called him as god, so, what more to you as ordinary Christians?!

At the end of the day it's not even about proving the validity of the last Prophet and the Revelation given to him.
Allah guides whomever he wills and leads astray whomsoever he wills. We tend to forget that.
Even his uncles Abu Jahl and Abu Lahab once had a moment of honesty in a secret meeting in the middle of one night and said "what do we make of Muhammed and this Qur'an that comes out of his lips?" they remained silent for a bit and then finally came to a conclusion "we can't deny it. It's the truth. But we can't admit that Banu Hashem have a Prophet they would have outdone us for good, we can never compete with that".
Muhammed PBUH was from Banu Hashim tribe lineage, his two uncles were from Banu Umayyah. The two cousin tribes were always rivals and competing with each other in everything.
In the end those two never professed Islam purely out of ego and pride, despite knowing with certainty that it's the truth.

    Questions for Keith Ward:
    1) On Page 16 of Vision to Pursue you say you felt compelled to reject the traditional Christian doctrine of the inerrancy and infallibility of the Bible because of a glaring error so serious that it was impossible to deny its existence: this is found in just one sentence in the gospel of Matthew 24:34:
‘Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all these things take place.’
This refers to the Second Coming of Jesus and it obviously did not occur within the generation of those then living. Either the gospel writer was in error in attributing this saying to Jesus or Jesus was mistaken. You conclude on page 18 that Jesus was probably mistaken. You mentioned much wriggling and squirming to evade the point! I identify!
But in light of this searing honesty how can Christians today still hold to the doctrine of the Trinity and belief in the Incarnation of God in Jesus? After all, God does not make mistakes.
    2) In your later work Re-Thinking Christianity you state (p. 9) that:
‘At the very start of Christian history there was a radical change in Christian beliefs and expectations. Far from being a changeless faith - ‘once delivered to the saints’ - it changed sharply and unexpectedly in its earliest years, in the very first generation.
    Could you elaborate further?
    3) How do you as a Christian theologian see the prophethood of Muhammad?

    • @prince2132
      @prince2132 3 ปีที่แล้ว

This is how Christians consider Muhammad. Jesus himself told about this much before.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. - Mathew 7:15-20

@@prince2132 - agreed. Just compare the 'fruits' (results) of Trinitarianism/ Paulianity = Dark Ages; widespread ignorance ; Colonialism ; mass Slavery ; mass extermination of natives; WW1 ; WW2, etc.
These western Pale-faces always speak with forked tongues as experienced by the native 'Red Indians' of Americas. Snakes & ravenous Wolves is a good description of the followers of Paulianity.
with Islam = Liberation of ppl from Persian & Roman Powers to live & believe freely ; welfare for all poor citizens ; mass education /schools & university's & libraries ; translations of knowledge from around the world ; Birth of Empirical Science ; Hospitals, Observatories, Public Baths & Ablution facilities, Beautiful Gardens & Buildings & Calligraphic Art etc etc.
But the greatest Fruit of all is the MOST IMPORTANT, Primary, simple, common sense idea/belief that GOD IS ONLY 1!

Saul (Paul in the past when he was a King) was a bad man. He killed Christians. But later God changed him. Then he become Paul a disciple of Jesus. He got Holy Spirit and started to preach the word of God with the help of helper (Holy Spirit) which Jesus told in gospel.
Christians consider his works from here on not before like when he was a murderer. From there on he did no sin, not killed any, healed many in Jesus name. Can anyone point any bad works from Paul after he started his ministry? This is what Jesus told we shall know them by their works.

@@prince2132 - just do a Google search for Jesus v paul and you will see hundreds of Biblical quotes where Paul clearly contradicts Jesus.
Paul admitted being a Liar just to spread his own invented religion amongst the gentiles.
"For if the truth of God hath more abounded through MY LIE unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?" (Rom. 3.7)
"Though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved. But be it so: ... nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile." (2 Cor. 12.15-16)
As a "man that striveth for the mastery" (1 Cor. 9.25), Paul expounds to the church leaders the modus operandi of the successful propagandist:
"I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, that I might gain them that are without law. ... I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake" (1 Cor. 9.19-23).

Paul, thanks for the interesting interview! If I can add my two bits worth: one of the reasons the Anglican church is dying in the UK is because of the type of theological liberalism espoused by ivory tower theologians like Keith Ward. Fortunately such noxious gobbledygook hasn't filtered down to all such churches but where it has their pews are lifeless or empty. If both Christianity and Islam are both equally valid human attempts to reach out to the divine, then the pluralistic interpretation of 'Christianity' presented by your interviewee is a far cry from the 'faith once delivered to the saints.'

    • @johnbrzykcy3076
      @johnbrzykcy3076 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I really like your observations. I really know nothing about either Islam or Keith Ward ( except what he said in this discussion).
I really like your last sentence. It makes me think. Obviously Islam and Christianity are different religious worldviews and therefore they come across as "human attempts to reach out to the divine." I don't personally like the words "human attempts" because they seem to exclude the desire of God to reach out to us.
I do believe that Christianity of modern times is indeed a "far cry from the 'faith once delivered to the saints." So I wonder what will Christianity evolve into? I hope the cornerstone of Jesus the Christ remains part of "the faith once delivered to the saints."

Good one Paul. Thanks. It's music to my hears. I will look out for Keith Ward's books. I like his approach. Pope Francis is also more open to other faiths. His line is respect what is 'true and holy' in other faiths. In his visit to Sri Lanka he went into a Buddhist temple to meet up monks. Vatican II was really a turning point. In my own journey I started studying Islam from 2008, in my retirement; with a help of a London based teacher of Islam. After study I still carry on as a Christian like Keith Ward' respecting Islam and other faiths; with my Christianity fully strengthened until we all meet again in front of the creator.

So your Christianity was "fully strengthened" when you learned about Quran and Islam? That is quite interesting. I'm just learning about the Quran.
If I may ask, how do you correlate the ideas in Quran that Jesus is not the Son of God with the Christian belief that He was/is ? I don't think there is any way to bridge the disagreement in those two beliefs. ( Would we even want to build such a bridge? It would probably collapse !).
Anyhow.... I like your honesty. However I also struggle with the idea of all religions leading to God.

@@johnbrzykcy3076 You are welcome. In 1984 we passed through Florida, Orlando. Stayed with friendly young evangelists parents. Forgot the name. It could be 'Shepherd'. They helped us to visit Disneyland. Very kind people.

Really excellent content as usual, excellent questions were asked, the conversation was seemless and smooth. I have (unfortunately for me) never heard of this man till today but I'm thankful for having the opportunity to listen to him and take some wonderful insights along the way and will look up some of his works and as I am honored to have had the chance to come to know of him. Appreciate the wonderful interview. BarackAllahu feek
