    As someone who was raised in Roman Catholic tradition, I can confirm that the priests always say "don't ask such question as curiosity is first step to hell". End of discussion. Islam encourages curiosity and scholarship. Islam doesn't have a caste of people who are the only ones entitled to know - anyone can and should study.
    I became Muslim through reading Bible btw.

      What nonsense. Islam is the most oppressive and Anti-freedom or religion and speech culture there is.

      It seems that Mr. Williams believes that Christianity should not even have existed.
      According to him, Jesus Christ was simply one of Israeli prophets who merely preached observance of Torah. Therefore, his followers should have been Torah observing Jews, or other people who would be willing to observe Torah.
      Why was the New Testament written then?

    • @Toronado2
      @Toronado2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

       @tombuddy100
      The New Testament was NOT written per se. What was done was because there were so many different books, such as Gospels and Historical Events written about a figure named Jesus, then the would be ruler Constantine wanted to unite these differing Christians under one roof. They then picked certain books that they thought jelled together rather nicely and forced it upon the People.

      If Satan is "CAST OUT" and Defeated, then why is He STILL the God of this world? And are ALL men DRAWN up to Jesus? Looks like a False Prophesy, doesn't it? In this Verse Jesus makes the CLAIM but does NOT make good on His Promise!

      Paul leaves out the 'catholic ' gospel scholars, who have explained the evolution of Jesus into the ' Christ '. In my opinion, Paul presents a very simplistic explanation of the foundation of the "Roman Catholic " . To attempt to explain the complex nature of "1&2 century in this short format is ridiculous. He refers to ' Bible scholars ' without any
      discussion of their 'agendas'.
      He also skipped over valid audience questions on Paul and other writers who were part of the evolution. Weak presentation.

    In just about an hour, Professor Williams provided a masterful synopsis of early Christianity and its key facts and players. I see this lecture soon becoming a useful TH-cam reference. I did notice, however, that he did not make reference to, even in passing, other prominent biblical scholars who wrote about these issues long before Geza Vermes did, such as Morton Scott Enslin ("It is today perfectly obvious that there is a vast difference between the nature of the messages of Jesus and Paul. At times this has led to unsparing condemnation of Paul and his associates who perverted the simple gospel stream. The slogan 'Back to Jesus' has simply meant 'Away from Paul' [...] To make it concrete: Had Jesus been able to attend a church service in Corinth in the year 54 A.D., he would have astounded, and might well have asked himself in amazement: Is this the result of my work in Galilee?" - Morton Scott Enslin, "Christian Beginnings", 1934), H. G. Wells (d. 1946), Ernest Renan (d. 1892), and others. Perhaps the omission was due to lack of time. In fairness, he did say that academic scholarship uncovering these issues go back to the last two centuries.
    Why have I called Williams a "professor"? Anyone who has been following Blogging Theology, and now has watched this video, would perhaps readily agree with me that Williams not only has a thorough knowledge and scholarship on Christianity and Christian history that is highly academic in nature, but he is also gifted with a style of presentation that would surpass that of many formal professors. I would say that any great university would do well in having him onboard, even without a three-letter acronym at the end of his name.

      @@tombuddy100 well, he doesn’t respond to muslims . He simply likes their comments . It is very hard and time consuming to respond to every Christian who wants to debate him. For beginners like us who wants to know the history of the holy books, this video is very helpful.

      @tombuddy100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waise28 He does take time to respond to atheists.
      He does not debate Christians because, like many Muslims, he also seems to believe that a person must have an "open mind" in order to accept Islam, which they believe Christians do not have, but atheists for some reason are more likely to have.
      Muslims prefer not to debate Christians directly, but rather denigrate their scriptures.

    Thank you Mr Paul for the unique presentation about the Jewish bible, Gospel and the earlier church teachings with some enlightment on Qur'an. I have learnt a lot from this blog about Moses, Jesus and finally Mohammad indeed , which are very much interesting. I'm very interested to conveying dawah to the peoples to the oneness of God and how to establish peace around as per the final testament the Qur'an which encompasses all the three religions in one.
    May almighty God bless you, me and all of mankind. Peace, peace be upon you; dawah is the must.
