These lands should've been included as the basic land for every Ikoria pack.

I said pretty much the same thing but I thought more like a 1 out of every 4 packs of the collector packs and 1 in a box of regular boxes.
Naw godzilla is more special than that.

It's actually an amazing game and really you just have to get passed the whole "WoTC hates you" thing and just avoid Elk i mean Standard. I mainly play commander and it's really fun.

I'll be honest, this one doesnt bother me. I dont need basic lands, and if you want them you can have them. I'm not buying them, and that's okay. This product is the epitome of "it isnt for you". The Fetch Land thing is bullshit, I think we can all agree.

To be accurate, that $350+ price point is people price gouging on the secondary market. The Secret Lair Ultimate edition IS too expensive, but it costs game stores less than a Collector Booster box, so they could be charging like $170 for it and still making a profit.
That is still an absolutely absurd price for it. Should have been $40

Honestly Jeremy, I unsubbed from the quartering because it had nothing on it I cared about (I'm over the culture wars), but this, this is what I like. Problem is WotC removed the MSRP price. SO the fetch lands are more than they anticipated because the price has been hiked from distribution onwards. However in saying that a member of WotC said in an interview on Tolarian that they expected the price to be roughly the same as Commander Anthology, which by all accounts is still a heck a lot more than $30 so your point still stands.

This is honeslty the best secret lair, it's literally a product you buy if you want them as their reprints of something every has access, it's not a card with a inherit value it's literally for pimping out your decks

If the set of fetch lands were priced between $50 and $70 dollars ,a lot less people would have been complaining. And it would have sold out in minutes.

they should be in the Collector pack but for 27 GBP I did buy them as I'm hoping to get a planeswalker in my box if they still do them
I got all my fetchlands from China. Proxys look better than the real cards. In a sleeve no one can tell the difference. For a playset of all fetchlands I paid $15

This is going to be a boring set with big creatures rush and trample and little to no removal because wizards have long since removed answers to mechanics within a set so they can sell more cards over actual game balance.
@@mantislazuli looked them up. They literally ripped off hearthstone with cards like Baku and Gen. And those are some of the best decks in hearthstone history

I mean, I still think it’s scummy, but I think fetchland box being more expensive is justified due to the card rarity. Though them printing fetch lands at all in a non set is milking the secondary market.
As a Godzilla fan I’m excited for this. But as a consumer I gotta temper that from what I’m seeing which sucks a ton

I had a collector box ordered from my LGS but asked to cancel when I saw this shit a few days ago. I'm completely done with MTG after seeing WOTC charge over 300 bucks for 5 lands. I could slightly get behind the collector boxes because the cards were awesome and you actually got a couple hundred of em in a box. I'm done until they stop sniffing farts.
What about a video that tries to get wizards to fix the connection problems on arena?

I bought just x1 of these for the sole purpose of reselling. Paid $30 + $10 shipping and now they're on TCGPlayer for $75 so i made a tiny bit of profit. I don't feel bad because it's literally just lands cards and not necessary to play and enjoy the game.
I know these lands are just aesthetic and entirely optional but still, I dont know how anyone can compete in this game, its hilariously overpriced and expensive to build even 1 competent deck. This is why I love the challenger decks so much, and I hope they never discontinue them.

What is the news here? Why is Jeremy upset now? Does he not understand the concept of a collector item? The supply-demand? Who is the fool here? The happy customer who is willing to pay for the product to own it? Or the privately owned profit-oriented company, that wants to make money? Is anybody forced to buy the product? What is off here?
ONLY SEEN ONE AD and this vid on the subject + breezed thru an article to see the monster cards to be released so don't knock me too hard if I make a silly point here.
Anyways sure I call BS too on the greed portion but having Gojira as a monster in Magic The Gathering sounds epic! But yeah the land art special edition cards are nonsense cash grabs. What will be interesting is to see is Gojiras mana cost and mana type for the costs- water and fire?

I play f2p. You can grind up enough to make a decent deck pretty fast but your best off using all your gold to do drafts and use the gems to get mastery passed to get a steady stream of rewards.
30$ for 5 basic lands... That will be printed and shipped God knows when... And people are still going to buy them.
Then, 5 fetch lands (the most requested on the market), printed with artificial scarcity and not on demand, 360$+ from retailers... Just because... Fetchlands and FU customers!
Secret lair is usually a fair and worthwhile product. The fetchlands shit is not really a secret lair product and It's against everything that the product started as and should continue to be.Wizards deserves every amount of criticism they are getting for the fetch land product, but shitting on secret lair for not being in the LGS is not a valid complaint. The amount of other products that the LGS gets is more than enough for them.

NATESUCKSATGAMING well these are basic lands and many people run the same printing of every basic land in their decks, so it would be reasonable to assume that one person is using all 15.
15 basic lands is possibly not enough for a mono-colored deck, so if anything they should be a higher limit. let alone if you want them for Commander (34+ lands needed minimum, and in a mono colored deck most of that would need to be basics). but if you really wanted that, if you got 15 of each, you could trade some of your less used colors to get some more of the colors you need.
Ughhh I want these but they’re being sold for $22+ singles and the box it’s $120+. Maybe I made a mistake getting into MTG

On their next secret lair, WOTC will miraculously listen to Jeremy and release the Ultimate Power Secret Lair with Alt art P9 and sell it for $30. And, they'll have a statement poohpoohing the RL and blame Jeremy for somehow "forcing their hands".

When Urza came out in Modern Horizons, i had thought that WoTC had broken the game to where every format will then get dominated by Urza without any other competition. Turns out for all the advantages Urza has he's not "that" overpowered. Still very powerful if you get everything you need but not tier 1 or tier 0 dominating. Ikoria, if you can believe this, is the first time thier releasing legendary creatures that are potentially more powerful than what Krikk was supposed to be.
I do like the idea of the Godzilla lands, and i'm not going to be buying any. But yes, they released the "fetch" lands for the LGS to sell and YES they have an excuse. It was sabotage from the beginning. WoTC is not blind to what they're making, and this is no accident. They will keep pushing the power level of their cards and now they can confidiently say to all those who wanted them to help the LGS "it was a bad idea" and now we have the "secondary market" problem and they will just blame us and while i disagree with their "Secret Lair" system if they would make the Secret Lair available over the period of a week it would be amazing. But they are practicing "Artificial scarcity" by only allowing 24 hours to purchase any particular product.

Well it's not as if Basic Lands were a rare ressource, those are clearly only for fans that want to bling out their deck, if you don't want them, don't buy them, those are not fetchland reprints or essentials like that that they priced too high, it's litterally just a fancy land set for people who want godzilla in their decks

But Wizard doesn`t have to go to the scondary market to ramp up the price. That argument is just stupid. 5 basic lands with alternate art should be cheaper than any 5 rare lands with alternate art. Wizard prices rares higher than comons since the start of the game. Thats why you get 1 rare 3 uncommons and a bunch of commons in a booster and not just random cards with random rarities.
I never get into channel like this that are mostly just rambling, being salty, negative, etc. However, on this particular video I can get behind your reaction. With this Ultimate Fetches Cash Grab, I felt like WotC was saying to us: "As a way to thank you for your commitment and loyalty to our game over the years, we give you.... a big middle finger!"
Atbthe end of the day it all comes down to how bad the person buying the set wants them. My friend and I for 1 are big fans of both godzilla and magic. To me it's worth it as a gift for him. Because I know he will appreciate it and not care about what the market says about the value, and neither will I.

While i love it, mutate feels like a super lazy deck building concept. They dont really work as well with non mutate spells and they are all creatures. So... just pick 3 colors you like and jam any card that has the word mutate into your deck. Done!
I mean, you could always not buy them. I'd say the fetch land secret lair is FAR worse than the basic lands. At least you can just buy basic lands cheap.

I feel a lot of the anger at this product is misplaced. WotC isn't charging $300 for the fetchland Secret Lair. Local (and not-so-local, like Card Kingdom etc.) game stores are charging $300 for the fetchland Secret Lair. Yes, it's annoying that they refuse to reprint fetchlands in any meaningful way, but this product has never been an attempt to bring more fetchlands into the market. It's an attempt to help out struggling local game stores. Perhaps making it fetchlands when they should have known there was such a massive movement within the community to have them reprinted is a little tone deaf, but if you're trying to make a product that's exclusive to local game stores, which you know will make those stores a lot of money, what better to put in it than the most sought after non-power nine cards in the entire game? The only complaint I have about the product is that they shouldn't have limited it to 10; keep it LGS exclusive, but let those LGS' order as many as they want. Still, LGSes needed a bone thrown their way, and I frankly can't blame Wizards for trying to throw one.
Meanwhile, ALL the anger at the Godzilla Lands Secret Lair is misplaced. Frankly, as a Godzilla fan who plays Magic, I feel this is the best product they've released in years.
I am actually ok with basic lands. That is what I thought the secret lair was going to be, a series of collectible cards and not necessarily playables or staples....
When they decided to print fetches i get it that they're trying to give players access to formats like modern that are prohibitively expensive mostly due to those cards, but they messed up big time, showed that they're not just trying to make an enjoyable collection product, and in the end a few more fetch lands in the market will not make a single dent on the secondary market price.
Also the secret lairs should always been limited to 1 per customer, and distribution should be done through the local stores, where they'd distribute it to them for pennies on the dollar allowing them some much needed profit and making everyone happy.
I still don't think WOTC has realized that without the game stores they will eventually just become an average game like hearthstone.
If MTG is still going strong after 25 years it was all about the local stores,it was all about the gathering part of magic.

The way they calculate is easy:
Printing: 1$
Packaging: 2$
Offsetting the Cost of Losing 50% of their Standard player base: 345$.
Its the same as Games Workshop did back then with the age of Sigmar Releases: increase the Price to offset the costs of r&d to a shrinking customer base. What a shame for that to happen to a once great game.

From where i live people now simply get counterfeit cards and everyone accept it. It is not possible to get any new player into the game with the absurd pricing of cards. They are freaking paper cards, they should not cost more than a few cents.
