This is one of the **best** Weezer songs that I have ever heard, and it's so underappreciated! Too bad not many people know about this song, because I think it's beautiful.
nomakeup First verse is soft: check, 1st chorus is heavy and hits hard:check, 2nd verse follows up the chorus being softer than it but also being harder than the 1st verse:check, Bridge leading to guitar leading into mixed up chorus: check. Holy crap you're right
My goodness if this would have been on Everything Will Be Alright in the End it would be even harder for me to say that album doesn't tie Pinkerton and Blue for me. The bridge lyrics are in the booklet after The British Are Coming so I like to imagine that is where it would have been on the album. Such a great comeback for Weezer!
Monster Mash green is consistent with every track being great. This album was alright with some standout tracks. Man if this song and the others were as good as this is would be better than blue and Pinkerton
I've lost myself in all the Weezer B-Sides and unreleased tracks lately but man I just keep on coming back to this song. It's easily some of their top-tier material. On their next album this should just be on it just because.
i dont know if you guys know how hard it is to sing 2:04 - 2:26 ?1?!?!?! Try it yourself and try to have as smooth as a transition in the line "of the dark". I admire Rivers to even be able to RECORD something that smooth and physically breathtaking. I wish he would sing this live though

Everybody needs salvation And if it doesn't come we make some Some people can get by on nothing But I still need to know I'm something
Rivers writes 98% of Weezer songs. Only ones I can think he didn't write were Thought You knew and In the Mall. Also worth noting Hurley was largely collaborative.
WoeBoeT not to mention that this song was on the tracklist for Ecco Homo, the album that eventually transformed into EWBAITE. It definitely fits and its a shame it didn't make the album.
Oh yes it is, but I don't think Cold Dark World is a crap song. A bizarre one? Sure! But not a crap one. Don't get me wrong, Red Album suffers from a fuckload of crap songs, from Troublemaker to Everybody Get Dangerous! But the rest is fairly good, and it reaches its culmination with The Angel and the One that is truly a perfect song. All the extras are pretty great, from Miss Sweeney to Pig, and they should have made it on the album for sure. Red Album's biggest tragedy is that it could have been another Blue...
I love how crunchy and louder the guitars are in this mix with the vocals a little bit lower in volume. Sounds more like a real rock song! ❤️ Turn those guitars up, mannnnnnnnn
...damn, I just realized that this is what I wanted the black album to sound like. zombie bastards tempered my expectations a little, but I'm still hoping we get stuff like this on black.

Rivers does whatever the record companies tells him to. The majority of good songs are cast aside in favor of whatever he thinks is gonna be a pop hit. Meanswhile if he simply produced and relased songs from the black hole-they'd sell more unts than the past 5 albums combined...
It was released as a single for the weezer fanclub, so technically it *has* been officially released. really wish they put this on everything will be alright in the end :/
@@Ghosty6464 that is definitely not the first weezer album new fans should listen to, its down to either Blue or White, those are much better introduction albums. Im not hating on pinkerton its my favorite weezer album but it should not be an introduction to the band

also i revisit most songs from Alone XI: The EWBAITE Years more than the Blue Album.
this entire song is beautiful
i come back to this frequently and i dunno why. it feels really emotional for me.
Nice to hear a Weezer song that isn’t about how a girl doesn’t like Rivers despite him being nearly 50 and married
Well you realize that other band members can write songs also like the drummer, guitarist, or bassist. but idk how that works with their band tho

Oh and Surf Wax America was also written by Pat.

this is simply the greatest weezer song
The final section with the guitars sounds menacing and great at the same time.
This song should totally be on the white album. Would be icing on the cake. One of the best weezer songs in my opinion.
buruno2m doesn't really fit with the sunny vibe of white imo

it hurts knowing that they never put this on an actual album
The fact that songs like where's my sex?, the girl got hot, and Beverly Hills made it onto albums and this one didn't frustrates me a tad
