My Dad loved Weezer and went to a lot of their concerts and I am only 12 and he passed away from a heart attack on January 8th 2020 at the age of 42 and I am using his account right now if anyone from Weezer reads this I want you to know my dad loved your music and one of his favorite shirts to wear was a red, yellow and white Weezer shirt and this song really sparked joy for me for the first time in a few months so thank you for spreading joy to millions of people each day also 4 days before my Dad passed away my grandpa (his dad) passed away and not even a month after all of that we got Put in quarantine you inspired my dad to start playing guitar and also partly inspired me to start playing piano not only that but classic rock piano and I love it so thank you for giving my dad and myself inspiration to start playing instruments 🎹🎫🎸🎸🎹🎹🙏🙏Thanks for all the support and I hope that they will see my comment and know that their band just made me happy every time I listen to a song of theirs. My dad would’ve loved this song because his dad was his hero and he died 4 days before my dad did so I’m trying to convince myself that he died happy. What I love about Rivers as a songwriter is that he never tries to impress anybody - he expresses himself sincerely and genuinely through his music, without pretense, and the result is always delightful

@@PassiveNights Yeah, it's called the "cut-up" method and it was/is used by David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, David Byrne, and Thom Yorke, among others. It's easy to make anything you don't understand sound bad by describing it in a reductive, dismissive way. Why don't you try writing a song that way and see if you can get results halfway as good as this, since it's apparently such a no-brainer?
It's also worth pointing out that Rivers doesn't only use that method, it's just one tool he uses to varying degrees. This song we're commenting on clearly can't have been written entirely that way, because the lyrics connect to each other in a relatively straightforward way.

My theory is that the alien is Van.
Waking up and thinking about going to work usually has been a chore for me, and although I haven't been working for long, nor have I been working any really important job. It's been busy. Fast food isn't really the thing that helps a lot of people, but watching this gives me a new thought process behind work. At least I can do something minor or not to help out people who are tired from doing their part, or who are tired of staying home and helping keep people safe.

Heard this on the radio few days back. Im a 2020 college grad and twitter artist that recently broke over 2k. This song reminds me of what my goal online is. So far, this album is solid AF. I think going "metal" allows rivers to tap into the rock fantasy, without fear of criticism. Which is awesome. This sounds like the blue album to me. And that is the highest praise I can give an album.

Weird. I haven't watched this (or heard the song really) since it came out during the whole "safer at home". That was a stressful, strange, exciting, and kind of scary experience. This song makes me long for the good parts of that time...the change of pace, being home and feeling safe with your family (I was fortunate enough to not have anything bad happen to loved ones). Yo that’s actually really good. All these bands r making albums but they don’t have that original sound of that band...Pearl Jam, Green Day, etc.
