Thanks, I really appreciate the progression, as shown. I’m a retired builder/tradie, myself. TGYAI- as a young Builder- I carried the latest technology available- an analogue pager. Also, I ‘always’ carried a bag of silver coins so that through the day and on the way home, etc I could stop at a ‘pay phone’ and make all my calls… 😅 Many of my plan details were literally hand drawn- blue prints- traced by hand with blue smudgy carbon paper… How times have changed!
Hi Dazz, as a graudate engineer i feel very bad and not enough constantly, because i feel like i don`t know anything but when i see your channel help me to get the confidence , thank you!
Enjoying your vids! Came across you when looking for videos on the IStructE CM exam... thought I recognised you then realised we were in the same year at Cardiff! Glad to see you're doing well and keep the vids coming!
As a Civil Engineer with 37 years walk, a had all my dreams made true, I calculate and design any civil Structure you can imagine from structure, higways, hidráulic, enviromental and foundation engineering. all my blueprints had uniques hand made Details drawings to show a clear idea to What is requiered. “If you can imagínated, and you can calcúlate it; you have to draw it for disbelieving eye”.
thanks for showing a glimpse of your sketching learning curve , my hand sketching skills are very average. I tend to sketch using Revit 3D and 2D sort of faster now. I remember some few year ago a very senior engineer from the 1990s, he used to sketch on power point digitally it works for him still. if you develop a passion for sketching, thats a bonus and makes you better engineer I believe
Hi Darren! I loved your videos, you helped me in making a decision to take structural engineering for my masters degree. I’ve been trying to improve my sketching for a while, do you happen to know any resources to practice engineering sketches? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the comment! Glad you’ve decided to do a masters. I don’t have any material for sketching. My main advice is to search for some architects sketch details and practice copying theirs freehand. Get used to drawing straight lines free hand. No need to rush just consistent practicing is all it takes.
@@EverydayDazz Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely try to practice more freehand drawings. Also I'll be doing my masters in the UK as well so your tips has been very relevant !
Your Vids Daz are very timely indeed. Both notion and sketching im using in the last 4/5 weeks which coincide with your releases. ....You haven't bugged my desk have you??
Sir do you mind to share the hand drawing sketches files especially the last one that you mentioned was drawn by your friend? I am currently an undergrad and I really love those sketches and wishing to be able to learn much more from them.
Hey man, I recently went to an exposition of drawings by an engineer from the 1900s here in the city where I live in Brazil. He is from German origin, a man called Theo Wiederspahn. You would be amazed.
Because you won’t have AutoCAD in meetings. The skill of sketching is being able to convey ideas quickly in any given situation. Producing drawings in AutoCAD or revit is the step after you’ve done your concept ideas which generally involves a lot of sketching

Inspirational and motivational for all engineers, we all face same issues

This is very good, it's amazing

ps: i have a windows laptop.
I think the 11inch is the best size.
Hi. What are the apps are you using in note taking and sketching?
I use Concepts for sketching. Notion for note taking. Sometimes goodnotes5 for hand written note taking.
Hey man, I recently went to an exposition of drawings by an engineer from the 1900s here in the city where I live in Brazil. He is from German origin, a man called Theo Wiederspahn. You would be amazed.
What app do you use to sketch ?
Hey man, just curious, why wouldn’t you do that on Autocad?
Because you won’t have AutoCAD in meetings. The skill of sketching is being able to convey ideas quickly in any given situation. Producing drawings in AutoCAD or revit is the step after you’ve done your concept ideas which generally involves a lot of sketching
Ok that makes sense
Those sketches that your friend made are amazing!
Would it be impossible to get them to use as examples?
Kind regards
