After watching plenty of your videos with clean, aesthetically pleasing details/sketches I’ve finally taken the plunge and started moving from paper to iPad. My Director seems impressed enough to let me restructure templates for ease of importing etc. I’ve been watching your videos for a few months and already feel I’m a better engineer for it, thanks for the time you put it!
Fascinating to watch how you sketch with Concepts. I’m also an SE and have used it for 3+ years to replace paper. Our results are similar, but we use it so differently - and I learned a few tricks from you! Thanks!
I love the ease with which you explain things, it really motivates me to put my hands on work. And particularly I love to see the explanations from the left-handed point of view, so it does not cause any mindf**k in my head!
So glad there's someone out there still sketching things out. Looks awesome. I'm a structural engineer with some creativity at heart but haven't really had the chance to do any sketching :/ its cad copying details from previous projects and then all calcs in excel.. and in general good design doest exist in engineering which is frustrating. Keep up the good work
Interesting video! I'm a geotechnical engineer who does a lot of temporary works designs. I do hand sketches on graph paper for simpler problems and go straight to regular AutoCAD for sketches with more complicated geometry. Still not fully convinced about the workflow benefits of the tablet sketch approach.
If you get lost (infinite is quite big), you can use the little arrows at the edge of the screen to get back to where you started - just tap one and you’ll zoom home. What is the think that we have for android similar to arrows which ipad has? Could you please help this as soon as possible.
Isn't there a snap feature where when you draw line close to each other they will join together, giving you perfectly clean intersections? Cool video, thank you
Really impressive , me an interior designer I use dell 2 in1 laptop ..I manage to install the concept app but me not able to use all the features..do I need to buy it ??? Can u help out with links to purchase as me not able to import or export even . Help me out and would appreciate if you can do some videos for interior layout sketch amd presentation ..like wise which is is done on procreate Thanks
I think it’s a good size. A good mix of portability and real estate. Whilst the larger one would be better for drawing on. I’m not a big fan on how big it is for carrying around
So what if you actually wanted to draw this to scale and dimension it? After trying to use this terrible app for two years now I still can not find a decent way to draw an original design (floor plan) to scale like I would in AutoCAD or similar apps. I have 30 years experience teaching drafting and design and I still find this app to be useless and very difficult to use. NOTHING is intuitive in this app. Any suggestions? I just keep hearing time after time that the Concepts app is the number one app preferred by architects. I find that extremely hard to believe. None of my architect friends are using this or have even heard of it!
Concepts app is not something to use to replace autocad. Like the name of the app suggests, it’s an app to sketch out conceptual ideas or schemes. You need to treat the app as a replacement for a sketchbook or notepad where you would sketch out ideas with pen and paper. Like with any software/app, you need to understand it and play with it. When I was first using concepts, it did take me a while to fully trust its usage and to believe that it would benefit my workflow. People are accustomed to doing what they already know and find it hard to try something new. Sure learning a new app will take some time and the time saving or benefits may not be apparent straight away but if you stick with it and use the app correctly, it will benefit your workflow.
@@EverydayDazz Ok that's great. I went to an apple store this evening and the 12.9 was huge. I had feared the 11inch would be too 'small' to get any detail in. However, it seems fine.
Really helpful. It seems to be quite a nivce clean intuitive app. Is that the case? I use several apps including procreate, as each have their advantages, but I don't want to relearn the basics each time! I want to be able to cone back to an app after some time and crack on. Is this app fairly straightforward in that regard? Cheers
@@EverydayDazz I'm getting sick of marking up drawings using Adobe Acrobat DC on my work laptop. Thinking this is the future! 4 years exp civil/structural eng btw good videos carry on!
hard mask you can go back and delete the mask by selecting it. A slice is in a way irreversible and you can go and select anything to recover it, although you can undo a slice. A slice will also go through multiple layers.
@@EverydayDazz I am really grateful and thankful for your kind reply. Is there specific types are good or any one that simulates the paper feeling is good? Yeah the trade off for having a matt screen protector is the colours won’t be as vibrant but you get a much better surface for writing on with the Apple Pencil. So it depends what you use the iPad for really.
@@EverydayDazz thanks for your response. I am an engineer and i am planning to invest in an app to make floor plans and layouts. I am torn between buying procreate or concepts.
Has anyone found out how to print a drawing to an exact size? I've watched a Concepts tutorial called Scaled Floor Plan which had some handy measuring and scaling your background tips so you can start from something pre-existing, measure one spot and everything you add will then be to scale and you can see the measurements as you draw... alas no printing tips. Thanks, Dani.

I'm appalled that there aren't enough videos for concepts windows but yet concepts ask for a monthly subscription. If the app meets the hype, why not have more information videos? Secondly, it crashes for windows 11. How come there isn't an update yet. It just seems as if developers are on vacation. I can't tolerate app services that ask for money but aren't on top of bugs and fixes.
You explained every single button of the whole app, without much talking. You are a great teacher.

Hi. How does one cut & paste a selection? I can't find that option anywhere
Can you suggest how to show the pointer location while drawing with apple pencil? For example, a pointer similar to the one displayed during erasing.
I have the pro version and for some reason I don’t have the “drawing scale” settings. Any tips?
Same here, how do you set the scale.

Have you ever felt the 11” was too small for sketches and pdf drawing mark-ups? I’m trying to decide between 11” or 12.9”
Works fine for me

Can I import a stamp-like image that we usually use in reviewing/commenting plans?
Yeah absolutely. You can import from the iPad photos or from file. I think it supports most common image formats.
How do you erase something?

you can set the scale in the settings. my settings button is in the top right hand corner.
Hi Daz, what size is the IPad you use? 11 inch or 12.9 inch. Does it make sense to go for a bigger ipad to help with sketching?
I use the 11 inch. I think the size is perfect for me. I find the 12.9 far too big. If you’re unsure go to a shop and try them out.

Xmas is coming up 😉 definitely worth it 👌
@@EverydayDazz will have to wait and see 😂 which iPad and pen version do you use?

can you import a sheet border with company name, project name etc into concept app and draw on the imported sheet.
Yup
@@EverydayDazz I assume you can make modifications to a pdf drawing like erase parts of a floor plan and move it to a different part of the sheet etc
It’s not a pdf editor so you can’t edit the template but you can draw over it.
What is the difference between "hard mask" and "slice"?
hard mask you can go back and delete the mask by selecting it. A slice is in a way irreversible and you can go and select anything to recover it, although you can undo a slice. A slice will also go through multiple layers.
