If you think it looks worse than the 2013 version, you have not played the 2013 version. It is of course not good, but that assessment is simply ridiculous.
Further, Sony did not mess up every port, they messed up this one and they had some issues with Horizon Zero Dawn (which was pretty much their first). All other ports were actually pretty good with only very minor issues.
You see that is the problem with you...you seem like a smart guy but you are not able to accurately assess issues and put them appropriately into words. It might be better for you to script things carefully before putting them out there instead of just winging it...because let's be real...you are not good at winging it since you lack the necessary rhetorical skills.

Unfortunatly the performance overlay he is using is massively flawed and shows very wrong data. CPU should be at 90-100% and GPU with the 4090 should be between 60 and 85. I can tell because I have the same hardware.

Don't think sony started to port the game that early. They probably made the decision and put things in full motion within the last 5 to 6 years. Regardless, the state of the game is horrible. In my opinion, if i go to play this game during holiday season 2023 and its still having the same issues like today then yeah they screwed up big time. Its unfortunate that its becoming standard for companies to release buggy messes. And games that are so badly optimized that its not even funny.

Luke, you need to include frame time graphs in your metrics. It's very good judge of how a game runs while pushing a specific fps. For example, even at your 30pfs, it looks like the game still struggles and studders... frame time graphs help illustrate that to your audience

For Optimized settings focused channel i recommend "BenchmarKing" he's been killing in that regard (the concept is : compare all graphical settings from low to ultra quality and performance wise and finding the optimal setting for great performance and roughly no quality loss, so you get the game looking the best while still keeping great fps)

I'm actually running it on a laptop: Gtx 1650 4GB, i5 10300H and 16gb ram. I went a little over the red line (passinf from the yellow one) and did some optimizations based off @benchmarking video. Works Really well, on 35 fps average with AMD FSR Balanced. Shader comp took about 2 hours. Note: Fropm the DigitalFoundry video, if you want readable textures, textures must be at least on high. If not, text is barely visible.
Is the shader compiling a one and done thing or do you have to do it every time you boot up the game? I have similar specs too and i really want to play it

you hardware should be running it better than the ps4, so if the graphics are not as good as the ps4 with you settings then its not good at all.
I finally played through the PC version yesterday. Before then, I kept trying to play it and it would always crash. After update 1.2 though, I gave it another shot and kept playing until the end, no more crashing, and the performance was perfect.
What gpu was you using ?
I played all the way through but had some graphical glitches in certain areas
If you have a 300 series nividia card like I do chances are you are seeing constant crashes. The Naughty Dog patches won't fix this but Nivida has put a hotfix driver update that should solve the problem if you have a 300 series card and are experiencing crashing like I was.
Yup i got 3070 ti and in dlc i cant go further from a specific check point game keep crashing

@@PkOrPvp damn, I know the driver hotfix update was targeting crashes with 300 series cards but have you tried updating your drivers?
Try updating your drivers, updating with the three naughty patches patches, turning your in game graphics to low to test stability, stopping all the background apps that you can, and don't use any overlays like Afterburner.
3060Ti zero crashes, finished even with DLC
Decided to give it a go yesterday with the latest patches. And it ran perectly for 5 hours at high settings 4k 60fps. Then it started fucking up. Fps dropped to single digits and it stayed there no matter what i did with the graphics settings. Lovering resolution to below 1080p seemed to be the only thing that would fix it, which is weird and not really a valid option.
Im having the same problems after a certain part of the game i started having issues and my first game crash.
I played through the last of us on my pc. I got no crashes, but my god, the issues I had were a pain in my ass. Loading screens galore, and I played through the whole game at 40 fps (I have a i3 10100 and a 6600 xt)
Yeah we have a similar set up but I have a 3700x, I actually managed to use all high textures but still my god, it ran fine up until I met bill, and it turned into low 50’s fps sometimes es 40 with horrendous loading screens
I've a 6600xt as well but thank god I still have my PS4 with the last us on it.
4 core 8 thread cpus aren't enough for this game , it is very demanding on the CPU and vram (eats up to 6 gb even on low settings). Tested it on a i7 6700 + RX 580 8GB, never got more than 45 fps on medium settings and even on the lowest settings. The RX 580 can push the fps somewhere between 50 & 60 fps (with some drops into the 40s) on 1080p medium + FSR2 (testet it with the RX 580 on a Ryzen5 3600X later on and got better results than on the i7 6700 and my gpu was fully utilized). Quadcores are dieing right now (at least in gaming), their era is long gone.
I have AMD 5600x and RTX 3060Ti... Still runs crap even with DLSS.
I’ve completed the game 3 ish times (the last time I was completing achievement so I went back and forth and skipped some sections) and I’ve had 2 crashes, multiple frame drops but doesn’t go below 40 ish frames.. it usually stays around 45-60 I’ve noticed stutters every now and then but isn’t horribly but it is noticeable. I play on high settings with a 1660 Super and an I5-10600KF.
Interesting. I’ve had close to zero problems since the first hot fixes. And now works like a charm at 4K on high, no crashes. With a 2080ti and a non gaming CPU (i9 7960X).
Which version are you using? I had not updated since day one and can barely run it in 1080p on medium 60fps, i'm using a 3060 ti.
@@kprocess9058 What cpu/ram? I use a 5600x 32gb and 3060 ti and it actually runs great... Have my fps locked on 70 on medium/high 1440p settings. 1.2.0 version.

Your experience doesn't represent the average then, while re4r is pretty resource intensive most people with at least decent rigs have no issues at all while tlou:p1 is absolutely plagued with bugs and crashes to the point of being nearly unplayable. Just because it has miraculously worked fine for you doesn't mean it's a good port or that you need to counter signal people who warn people about it.

I really wonder if video game studios absolutely have to release their games to meet certain deadlines no matter what, considering the recent examples of Rockstar, CDPR, and now ND. It seems like they never learn from their mistakes, and I question why they continue to do this. Is there a reason for it, or am I being too naive by assuming they deserve the benefit of the doubt?

The execs wanted to release it while there is still hype from the show, I think. Execs are not the devs. All they care about is the sales.
From a management standpoint, you have to have an absolute deadline at some point. Resources aren't unlimited. On the other hand, you have to be completely blind, clueless, or do not care at all if the game development you are overseeing is obviously not in the best shape and you still release the game.
Companies have to little to no backbone to just tell their shareholder to have some fucking patience when they develop these games, which is even less forgivable when we consider this "remake" a terrible port when it would have a fraction of the development cycle of a new AAA I.P release. Honestly it's becoming egregious and costing even more money for them like what makes them think they will turn a sizeable profit if an entire community shits on it after its release you're only getting the initial sales at launch where as if the game was completed and probably optimized. The life span of which willing purchases will be made last longer, now the potential amount of consumers will drop cuz we've all heard how awful of a job they did.
I don't get why you even try to defend this port. This game literally consists of corridors and graphically is not intensive at all. It MUST run 60 fps stable at low-medium on 1080p with gtx 1070. What they've done here with the optimization is atrocious. This is what happens when you hire by quota, not skill.

8 gb vram is the new entry level now , with 32 gb ram and 16 gb vram the game run so so fucking smoothly the graph chart was so stable it was the best i ever seen in a while

Runs great on the lastest patches, I'am getting 85 - 125 fps in 1080p on mostly high settings with textures on ultra, No stuttering, Smooth as butter 🤗

It takes a little over an hour to build shaders on my RTX 3080 machine. I have 10 hours of play in the game, of which only 6.5-7 are actually playing. I've spent over 3 hours total building shaders multiple times.
i just started watching him a couple months ago and he deserves his success, very well made videos and half the time i dont even give a shit about the game hes talking about but his analysis of them are so interesting i still watch

The patch-notes suck as much as the port does. In some of the major fixes they don't specify nearly enough what/where/how was fixed. Lots of mentions are so vague.
Would only recommend this if you have 12 GB of VRAM or more. Runs great on my 6800 XT but had numerous crashes on my 3060 TI.
and if you're willing to play it with controller, because mouse jitter I'd say is unplayable (or at the very least unacceptable)
i respect this opinion about telling people beforehand to not buy the game if they dont have atleast 12 gb vram which is great, with that being said i did decide to look up some of some metrics, about what the majority of people have in terms of gpu availability and it turns out majority of people on the planet still have 4 gb to 8 gb vram, and people with 12 or more are the top 5 or 10 percent, so the other side of the argument is its basically alienating almost everyone due to this horrible optimization for a 2013 game, I do understand this build was made ground up for ps5 which is again fine, but it is very nasty to let people preorder the game in the pc world months before the release and then releasing the system requirements a week before launch, where alot of people wouldn't even have noticed it.
@@mroutcast8515 mouse jitter is when you move the camera and it lags? if yes opening the exe properties and selecting full screen optimisations fixes that.
Only took my PC (Ryzen 7700 with RTX 3070) 15min to build shaders. No issues at all. Runs perfectly.
It runs great for me and my brother now. I think they prioritized fixing 30 series performance

I finally downloaded it and tried it out this week (Oct 2023) and it runs pretty great on my setup (RTX 3090 and Ryzen 9 7900x). All settings fully maxed out, and 4k.
It ran like a charm from the beginning for me hahaha
I'm constantly complaining and demanding a fix in the Naughty Dog twitter for the mouse jittering problem, but 3 patches later, no fix. I wonder if it will ever get fixed at this point.
Still gnarly after updating with the Nvidia hot fix and the 15gb patch, running on a 3090/Ryzen/32GB. Glitchy and unable to use a controller properly. Keeps giving me keyboard prompts. Unable to run for whatever reason. Frame rate has taken a battering, was quite high, now much, much, lower and stutters, not as bad, but still does in places. As much as I love this game and wanted to experience it on super wide screen on my monitor, it's a mess and will likely come back to it later in the year.

This is in fact a reasonably well optimized Gameboy Colour port from early 1997.
Never forget Iron Galaxy built the instruction sets for gardians of the galaxy and nvidia 900 series gpu's run like donkey doodoo.
Expecting to run a modern AAA title to run on a GPU from 2016 never ends well. It's not the games fault , gtx 1070 is a very weak card in 2023.

i HATE it when PC ports still show the controller icons on screen, either turn them off in HUD controlls (if it has them) or replace with your imput choice, i.e. mouse & Keyboard

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. I preordered this on Steam and platted it on my Deck. I had almost no issues with the game. I topped the refresh rate at 40hz and I got a consistent 40fps with occasional framerate drops to no less than 28fps. It crashed once when I was in the main menu, and there were occasional framerate stutters when the action ramped up. But, I was able to 100% the game with no problems.
I do need to add that there were some rendering issues, such as maps and notes taking a few seconds to completely draw in. Some signs, like evacuation notices, wouldn't draw at all. But, none of these affected my gameplay in any way.
I am running it on Intel Core i7-9700 CPU 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super ,32 GB Memory, 500gb SSD
1TB HDD and it runs fine for me.
I've been looking forward to playing this game for ten years. It really sucks that it's finally come to pc and I haven't even bothered buying it. I've got a Ryzen 5600x 16gb RAM(3600), Corsair MP600 2TB M.2 NVMe, and an RTX 3060 Ti. At 1080p I'm able to play all my games at 144fps or close. At least 80. At high and ultra settings. And I've read that this game wont run on my system. That's just crazy. And on top of all the performance issues, they've removed the multiplayer mode. And are still charging full price. I don't know.. That doesn't sit well with me.
But then you read something wrong, I am playing this game on Ryzen 5600g 16GB RAM and RTX 3060 12GB version. Only thing I changed is virtual memory to higher numbers and it helped a lot. I am playing 1080p resolution and its playable, and I enjoyed that game.
Wait, you can't tell the controller issue is fixed? Even on your 4090? Oh man, I think it's night and day. I too had a quest item bug after the patch and just had to restart the checkpoint. However, I never played the game before and I was legitimately stuck for half hour before I finally looked it up. Found out a crate didn't spawn that I was suppose to move because some manaquin head was freaking out and this was in the Left Behind DLC at the electric water part. But, only bug I came across since release.

They should've made the low or medium settings the ps4 remastered graphics. But instead they gave us textures that looks like soup. High textures is not doable on 8gb vram in this game

I spoke to a beta tester months before this was released on PC. According to the testers it was running perfectly, but I remembered that these guys get top of the line PCs to test with.
But I question, was the game actually playable despite these testers having monster machines? Was the vram usage properly optimised? I have a feeling beta testers get good versions to play with compared to what happens at release.
So I’ve been playing since launch day, Ryzen 7600x amd 6800, running 1440p 60-70fps with everything set to ultra. Absolutely no issues. I will say the shaders took about 4 hours but I didn’t think that was a huge deal.

I've checked and the 1070 is listed in the minimum requirement list, not on the recommanded. But still they're saying you can play the game with at 1070. In fact it says 1050ti. My game runs like shit with a 3060ti even after the third big update. But it runs. Before it was just crashing
I hit the key bug on a recent playthrough I did on PS4. I think it depends on how the guy falls. Funny to see some ancient bugs from the game are still around. I had to redo the section to get it to work on PS4 as well when it happened to me.
Either you're lying or you made it up that there is a bug on the game because i played and platinumed it on Ps3 and Ps4 [phat,slim,pro]. I have never experienced this bug ever.

But probably explains why it still hasn't been fixed, It probably occurs so uncommonly that it's nigh impossible to reproduce and therefore pretty much impossible to fix. I had played the last of us several times on PS4 previous to this years ago without encountering the bug. And when I played through it recently on PC I didn't have the key bug either. Just happened the one time on my most recent playthrough on PS4.

Thankfully I can run everything on max at 1440p, with my Rtx 3080 and i9 9900k @4.8Ghz. I get around 60-80fps depending on the area
There's a common trend over the past few years where publishers and developers knowingly launch a game that is broken because they know gamers will forget the whole mess after some updates. Battlefield 2042 is a recent example of that since it launched broken and is now an admittedly decent game. I wish there was some type of legal protection against knowingly sell a broken, unfinished product.
this situation isn't going to be fixed anytime. I played it first on ps3, and a full minute loading for chapter 1 for me was already a long time. MGS4 was even worse, but as far I recall, not more than 2 minutes. I understand the shader compiling thing of the current platforms, but I'd give up playing anything taking 2+ minutes to be ready to play.
11:20 naah, the minimum requirement is a freaking 1050ti or a 970, both are waaaaay weaker than a 1070, imagine trying to run the game at low settings on a 1050ti if its like this on a 1070. lol
I have a 1070 and (for example) I can play forza horizon 5 at max settings 3440X1440 HDR and I get 60 fps. Granted Forza needed performance patches when it 1st released so I waited a year before retrying it. I understand the "Old" hardware excuse but theres no reason to have this game run so poorly on a 1070.
The Arkham Knight of 2023. Shame though because I really wanted to play this. The biggest issue though I see here is the vram usage. Low settings of that quality should not be pegged at 6+GB usage
Tbf you did go into your high-end specs towards the end of the first video. The first two thirds did sound pretty detached/ignorant about the average experience but the last part cleared it up imo. Its crazy, Ive played the game twice on ultra with 3080 ti and had no problems at all. No crashes, glitches or anything. I think there may have been two quick stutters, but other than that nothing.
Yup super smooth experience on 5800x3D + 6800xt at 1440p with ultra settings. Solid 60fps, game looks absolutely beautifull.
And still no IGN review in sight... Yet they put out an awful video for Redfall.

I'm playing this game on a 2020 Omen with Ryzen 4th gen and GTX 1660Ti at High preset.
worked perfectly for me on my machine.
I don't know why but I can't run most of the Call of Duty and Battlefield games released in the last 6 years because of stupid bugs related to the games not being able to load certain .DLL files, even when I put copies of them in the game's folder. I found tons of people online saying they have the same problems and none of the proposed fixes worked for me.
It sucks when devs ruin great games by allowing their release with huge problems.

2 weeks ago played: 3070, 7600x 4k high/ultra settings 60 fps, 40.50% cpu usage... wtf no problems...
This is one of those PC games I expect tons of people to (eventually, when it's playable) play the ripped version of cause the company which released the port doesn't deserve the money.
I'm wondering if they had an issue with that key drop mechanic... I don't feel like I ever saw that past the first guy we had to kill who dropped one with the loud audible sound effect.
What do they mean when they say "patch"? I'm thinking it's the same thing DK Oldies means when they say "refurbished".
Upgraded to an RX 6750xt + R7 5800x have to drop it to 1080p 😢

For me the problem was the crashes every 10 mints, i downloaded a mod a moder made to fix crashes and few other stuff and i didnt crash a single time after, managed to complete the game, but its unbelievable that a person at home ( the moder) managed to fix something that these money hungry devs cant till today, i dont know if its worthy to give a laugh or cry . I am just furious i couldnt refund my game and that these companies release products untested to public, that is dangerous

Find it strange that this is happening for a lot of people. Really really sucks. I just bought myself a 2023 Rog zephyrus m16. 1tb, RTX 2070, QHD screen and I'm able to play at nearly ultra settings for everything with a buttery smooth FPS. On Best Buy you can get it open box for around 1800 but even if you buy it brand new you can get it under 2k!
I was going to get the G14 from 2022 because Best Buy currently has it on sale for 1000 as well as of 2022 m16 for 1500ish.
A new patch came yesterday, it fixed most of my issues. Plz try it and let's us know boss
aside from 1 crash transitioning from the scene where your using the mounted sniper to leaving the house, the game ran flawless for me, no issues at all.
That's the thing about having high-end GPUs. I have a RTX 3090, but the PC gaming market has been shitty for too long a time for me to even think that just because my PC runs it well, the complaints from other gamers might be overblown. Heck, I know most games today won't run as well on something like the 3090 as you would expect and I pretty much enable DLSS the first time if it's available in the game.

Mine not so great rig, i5 10400f, rx6600xt, 32gb ram. Playing at high. 60fps+ most of the time (notice 3 area it droped to 40'ish fps), already in the middle of the game and only crash twice, 1 glitch, no gampeplay bug since I start playing. I considered it playable.
