Thanks buddy. I think this was one of my better games as far as decision making during gameplay. 😃

Hey! I think you should have focused on road and cities more in this game and let them take army. You had poor ows setup and great road building setup and port for cities. Gg anyway, enjoy watching catan content :)

Cheers Darius. Definitely an interesting dilemma that I was weighing up during the game. Ultimately I was able to get both the Largest Army & Longest Road this game for 4 VPs + one of the VPs from the deck.
It's possible that I would be able to get another city and two more settlements for 3 points if I didn't pursuit dev cards, but one of the added benefits of going for army in this game was that I was able to kick the robber away from my best producing hexes regularly. I'm not entirely sure how things would have panned out in the alternative scenario.
      🤔

Wow! That was pretty! You overcame some ugly, though, when the cards were flying out of your hand into theirs.

Cheers Jane. I was definitely expecting to get targeted once I got to 5 VPs and it looked like I was dominating. I think the decision to focus on army rather than going for a second city was the key to winning this game, since it also helped me defend my best producing spots. 😉👍

Both Brown and White totally handed you that win.
Specially white, don't know at all what he/she was up to placing on that spot. Sure, the sheep-port is nice and all, but no wood and no brick mean it will take ages to get there, while giving you prime-spots in the middle.
6-11-12 was the way to go for him and then to the wheat-port.
Also think you "wasted a road by pointing down on your second settlement. Well it would have been a wasted road if white placed where he should have had atleast. Bc you would most likely not have been able to get to 11-4 before white settles on the wheatport considering he started with a road. But luckely for you it worked out. Nice win.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised about the final two placements. In a sense that's why I pointed the road the way I did, thinking the centre of the board was going to be occupied and worst case scenario I could run to the 4/11 spot on the coast.
Having the 6/11/12 to expand to was huge for me...
      🤠

    When do you usually stream?

    • @TryNiceGames
      @TryNiceGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm usually up and running every weekend (Sat. & Sun.), playing in some type of tournament or league + (typically) a couple of times during the week. I'll generally start around 3-4pm GMT and stream for at least 3 hours.
      Thanks for asking BTW.
Hope to see you on Twitch in the near future...

Such a complicated game the roads were going up everywhere........... ports made each person dangerous in his own right,I thought you might have won sooner if you had city'd earlier,You were a target anyway despite not city' ing up??

Did you actually think they shouldn't have handed red the road and still been solo blocking you, or was that just attempted propaganda?
Because you still had winning roles, letting red extend the game seems the objectively best thing for the board, even if it bud s you and maybe causes you to lose.
Propaganda is weird because sometimes you speak objectively, and sometimes you're just trying to pull one over on the board.

Definitely the right move by the table to give Red the road there and yes, once they had road I was basically trying to persuade people to divert (at least some of) their attention to Red.
If I'm able to talk my way out of even just one block or robbery in that situation, that might just be enough to get me to the finish line.
      😉👍
