    Looks good! A stiffer wand will help prevent the porpoising. You can see the wand bending before it moves the mainfoil flap, so it's late levelling boat out.

    That looks fun as hell, but I want to see him tack before I decide if I want to buy one...

    This looks great. I am a British Cat sailor looking into foiling boats. The gantry holding the wand seems a little unsophisticated any plans to improve e the engineering on this . Also why not use a non solid trampoline to lose some weight?. Great concept though what are your future plans for this boat.

    That's way too cool. Can we sail around the world with it? We currently have a Tiwal inflatable sailboat on board but I crave more performance. This would take things to a whole new level! I would just need a bigger mothership... Is the mast 1 piece or multiple?

    I respect you making this boat for people that haven't got enough experience to sail a moth but I'm kind of mad at you for putting it against to a wazp and making the not try just to make your boat look faster... Also, how can it possibly go upwind if you can't heel it to windward because of the down rakeing hulls...

    • @joebeitch7638
      @joebeitch7638 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      you can heel it to windward. in the newer version ive gotten as close hauled as it gets. the weight of the hulls helps me keep the boat flat im 120 lbs and 5'7"

    What's wrong with rigging the boat on its side?

    Seems like a lot of sheeting. Is that part of the learning curve or just the design?

      MrReece I think when their on the foils the wind comes from the front of the sail like on an upwind because of the boat speed so they sheet on the sail so the boat doesn't crash into the water.

    Lets go opti, then Hobie Wave/H16, then foiling. Club 420, really? Kids should be on a Wave or H16 then go to foiling.

      Start the kids on O'pen Bics, then foil your O'pen Bic with the kit.... JP foiled the UFO on his first try at 12 years old (see the Foiling UFO- Fun for all Ages video). I can't imagine an Opti sailor doing that. From what I've seen in Europe, NZ and AU- Skiff sailors can adapt to foiling more naturally than displacement hull sailors. Its time to update those old displacement fleets to skiffs so the kids that want to foil are better prepared.

    • @aboutme473
      @aboutme473 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're right , but i can imagine a bunch of opti sailors being able to foil very quickly, 420 is where the competition and majority is right now in the US , it is important to sail against the best in order to be the best, unlike the wave or hobie 16

    • @funtosail
      @funtosail 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here in my area we have 6 and 7 year olds sailing Hobie Wave's, so no Opti's or Open Bics. Then they move to the wild Hobie 16. Now going to add the UFO. Our kids even when presented with skiffs much rather sail a multihull. So honestly to me its time to update those old Opti's, Sabot's, Skiffs to multihulls. Also cost is always an issue so one can get a Wave for less than a new Opti., and certainly less than some of these high performance skills. Hobie 16's you can purchase for next to nothing used all over the world, plus those with disAbilities can sail them with Trapseats added. Plus taking a look at the Extreme Sailing Series and the SuperFoiler Grand Prix, appears to me that the future is multihulls not skiffs, etc.

      diligenterable I would find it annoying to get windward heel on a UFO even with inline foils. The waszp sailor here was clearly not very experienced
