That looks like Box Springs Mtn. in Riverside/MoVal? I’ll have to look for that antenna next time I go through there! Nice work!

Hey! Didn't know you were a tower dog as well! Did it for 10 years with a USAF E&I unit until I blew my last knee and had to reclass. Doing it old school, snatch blocks no gin pole, line, no safety climbs or ladder, climbing the outside the hard way, hauling up the heliax. Fun, fun, fun! I saw that snatch block change coming when the heliax was coming up, LOL. Amazing how you find yourself to talking to the screen going "Naw, you need to mount it higher! No other side!" That's why I like clove hitches lower down and a pulled in anchor loop at the head rather than chinese fingers. I can get a couple feet of tail up above the lifting point for ease of connecting and mounting. Arm chair foreman, right? LOL!!! Man, I miss this kind of work! A good job guys!

I really enjoyed your comment! I have a friend who does tower work all the time and needs a 2nd person working with him. Sometimes, we need to do onsite or shop fabrication for antenna tuning units. Fun work. Sorry to hear about your knees. We do what we can while we can do it. I talk at the screen to, depending on the video. As if the person can hear me and listen to my suggestions 😆.

Wow!! I'll never look at antenna towers the same way ever again. You provided a whole new perspective🗼📡

Hey guys, Cool video showing the public a speciality trade. If you use a jib or just rig the antenna just above balance aka center of gravity it'll allow you to pivot the antenna around more easily to help with mounting while also allowing you to pull the top half of antenna past your rigging block if needed. I'd also rig your Kellem Cable grip down about 5-10-feet, it'll allow you to mount your Kellem grip on the structure supporting the cable weight and give you some slack for connecting the cable end to the antenna. I like the way you guys communicate your moves.

I've been watching you and Jason and Harry on Jason's channel for a long time, had no idea you guys climb towers. I work in the tower industry for a living, we design, maintain, build new, whatever... with radio towers.
I'm a PE, sit in the office most days, but I am climbing certified, and get out and do PMI's or MI's some times. Mapping here and there.
    Awesome!

@Arjay.M88 I got SPRAT Level 1 certified this year. Looking for opportunities to get the 500hrs required to qualify for level 2. Not all tower work qualifies. Only if rope access is used. That's really cool to hear. It's nice to divide field work with office work at times. A buddy of mine does a lot of tower work in the Southern California area. Occasionally, I help him out.

Looking good! Two-way radio is my other trade and it plays into mining all the time. We're fixing to do a repeater install soon with a 110' run of superflex, but underground. There's a tricky pull through a very cramped ventilation scram raise that I am *not* looking forward to, but the eventual result should be satisfying - full digital radio coverage of all surface and underground areas.

@Porty1119 Oh man, that's the setup! I look forward to hearing that you got it wired up and working. I'll be coming to you for advice/recommendations. We may have to set up something similar.

i think you get used to it over time and your body begins to believe it’s safe there.
then your fine so you can go up a little at a time.
if your height senses tingle take a step down and wait for it to go away. eat a cookie.
then go up again some more

That dinky tower, you should have heel blocked the load line just in case, a lot of that steel on box is shady.

When trying to clear objects, I'm a big fan of trolleying them up. With how they did it though, I'd agree with the heel block.

How about a "Tower Operator" Channel so you can save us your 'hobbies' unrelated to mining? Nonsense. This is how you lose your Subscribers.
Make another off topic and you'll lose another one. Permanently. Play "tower guy" on your own time.
