      That article is ~4 yrs old do you have a link to the state's permitting process it describes?
      I read something elsewhere along the lines of "since pollutants aren't being added dredging is ok and no permit required".
      This topic is unfortunately clear as mud.

      PLP did a lot of work to find the way to do it legally. Since there are a few steps that must be done, this information is only given to PLP members. This is to maintain accountability, education on how and ensure those who do go dredge do it legally. I can look for any updated info. But it is still accurate today.

    I've heard of two individuals up here in NorCal who were cited and had their equipment confiscated recently. The warden wouldn't listen to anything they had to say about reclamation dredging. He just gave them their citation and said they can talk to the judge about it.

    • @jeffhays1968
      @jeffhays1968 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      Bet this is a regular thing too, which PLP does not mention. It's great to get a foothold back, but be ready to fight to keep it which includes getting cited now and again. Hope everyone is keeping in contact with each other to trade notes on how to get tickets evaporated.

    • @kerbyjackson88
      @kerbyjackson88 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      As far as I've heard, one other miner was cited in the last year but he did not follow through as needed and just took the hit. That's a problem. Anyone using PLPs program needs to be prepared to follow through if they do get cited. We need test cases on the issue to get anywhere, so I hope the two guys you speak of follow through.@@jeffhays1968

    I'm confused about something:
    I remember, when the dredging ban went into effect in CA. It caused a lot of anger among prospectors who primarily dredged.
    I also recall the controversy about dredges disturbing fish during spawning vs fish unexpectedly causing a feeding frenzy whenever dredges disturbed the ground.
    I think the hose diameter also played a role.
    Now, the activity in this video is "reclamation".
    - Does this require a special permit, and if so, what proof do you have to provide to "authorities" that you're actually doing reclamation vs. harvesting gold?
    - Is this your own creek or were you asked to help clean it up by officials?
    I'm trying to understand, if claiming to do reclamation would now give every former dredger a reason to go dredging again by simply claiming to do reclamation.
    There are beach and river cleanups happening all the time without anyone dredging.
    I'm genuinely curious, how this works. I was never a dredger, but a sluicer and panner. But many of my fellow prospectors were avid dredgers.
    Thanks so much.

      No permit is required. The state code banning dredging has exemptions for partnerships, corporations and LLC’s. That law does not apply to those entities. These guys likely have a notarized partnership agreement reclamation dredging.

    • @aroundslotown
      @aroundslotown 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have seen many people highbank and yea the water goes back into the creek and no problems. In Canada I heard you have to make a settling pond and keep it out of the creek but in California I don't believe they have that rule. Always check with the stuarts of the land (F&G, camp hosts, for example) they can tell you the good spots.

    Is it legal to dredge in CA? I know you had some authority to be able to dredge. I recall when the court action was going on to try to open it back up. I donated a small amount but understood we lost that fight. Has something happened to the ban?

    Has to be time of year when fish arent spawning, and if you see fish you are supposed to stop working and relocate to different section of creek. But a lot of waterways have it banned outright which is stupid. I know Washingtons rules for sure and they are usually right in line with California on most crap Every waterway will have its own rules and regs damn near. And if its not listed then you can apply for water permit to dredge. Most people assume its all out banned. But if its not specific about it then i think its either a 4 or 5 inch dredge single hose limit. Some rivers will say only a four inch from december to may, and others will be ok with a five inch from sept to april. Washington puts out a pamphlet on fish and water way regulations that has all the rivers their diffferent rules are etc. Its absolutely crazy what politicians do to our freedoms. It should be common sense that regulates this. And if someone is being ridiculous then the forest ranger should do his job and make him be not ridiculous. But one four inch dredge will not hurt a waterway so long as fish are t spawning

    • @RICDirector
      @RICDirector 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      And therein lies the rub...common sense is no longer common, and with gold in the equation, common sense packed up and went on a world cruise!

      Should be on case by case basis. Not all rivers are equally supplied with trout and other species. Im an avid fisherman and Miner and I wouldnt dredge certian parts of a river. Ca is to struck up and the politcs are one sided,

      It simply amazes me. How people can be so judgmental without even studying or know what they're talking about. You're absolutely right about Mercury stuck to gold or gold stuck to Mercury. I have recovered gold that you cannot see any Mercury on it. Wound up putting it in the jar the next thing I know I had Mercury all over all the gold. A little bit of that stuff covers a lot of gold. Good job guys on cleaning up the creek and its environment

    • @Troutstar
      @Troutstar 50 นาทีที่ผ่านมา

      @shanefrericks5929 You are hiding behind the language. That's fine: it's legal.
      The few dredgers that actually care about the rivers don't make up for the many that don't give af.
      Just because YOUR intent is good doesn't mean most folks intent is.
      The creator of this channel doesn't give af about anything in nature but making money so he can live the way he wants.
      I used to run a dredge on the N. Yuba, on Goodyear's Creek, and wherever else I could back in the day. I know exactly what I'm talking about. The folks who shared the tradition with me didn't care about the bodies of water. Not even a bit.
      Let me know how much Mercury you recover in a lifetime of dredge operations.
      You might understand the fine points, but most peeps who pop on YT for some infotainment don't.
      Garbage take. Garbage video. Get out your feelings.
