I'm confused about something: I remember, when the dredging ban went into effect in CA. It caused a lot of anger among prospectors who primarily dredged. I also recall the controversy about dredges disturbing fish during spawning vs fish unexpectedly causing a feeding frenzy whenever dredges disturbed the ground. I think the hose diameter also played a role. Now, the activity in this video is "reclamation". - Does this require a special permit, and if so, what proof do you have to provide to "authorities" that you're actually doing reclamation vs. harvesting gold? - Is this your own creek or were you asked to help clean it up by officials? I'm trying to understand, if claiming to do reclamation would now give every former dredger a reason to go dredging again by simply claiming to do reclamation. There are beach and river cleanups happening all the time without anyone dredging. I'm genuinely curious, how this works. I was never a dredger, but a sluicer and panner. But many of my fellow prospectors were avid dredgers. Thanks so much.

I am afraid this 2021 memo is way to old to trust your rig and pocket book with. To many Fish and Game Laws in the waterways, As well as many other regulations by the water board are more up to date i believe. Further Reasearch is needed and the laws really need to be explored i think. Also its called a work around. Which in iself sounds pretty shady. California is one state that doesnt f around even over a 2" Stupid Smelt. They let houses burn to a crisp over it.

When looking for those heavies... the old rocks are the winners. It's simple geology. Over time as plates are subducted and remelted, some of the very heavy uranium drops out. As the process continues to happen, the concentrations of the heaviest elements lowers more and more. Young geology can still contain usable amounts, but older geology will always contain more.
