Been following your videos chronologically from about ep40. Followed you from Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Long Island, New York, Delaware, Cheasapeake, Charleston and Savannah…Bermuda and round the Caribbean Islands to St Maarten and Saba. They are a perfect guide for anyone following that has aspirations to follow. I am in awe of the quality of your presentations. They are simply beautiful. If you could bundle them as a package and sell them I feel that you could make a little money. You as a couple are delightful and great fun! Hat’s off to you both for living the life of your dreams. Inspirational! 🌹
Please note: This episode is from our 2019 Caribbean season, catching up from where we left off editing that year. There will be several more to come every Friday over the next few weeks, as we steadily cruise west from the Leewards to the Greater Antilles.
I love recalling the blogs you posted to now see the videos. 2019 seems forever ago, yet it is not. The events of the last year or so have played tricks on our minds lol. Seeing these videos are balm for the soul!!
Yes, it was an annoying problem for a whole season that damned vang. But we got it sorted in the end. I think actually its a design issue on the seal. Its OK under pressure, but when the boom starts bouncing in heavy seas, the vang goes from compression to tension rapidly and the seal cannot coupe with the rapid pressure cycling.
OMGOSH, GLEN THANK YOU..... I WAS GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWLS FROM the deficit of good sailing and good fun!!! Love hanging with you guys (so to speak) but good stuff non the less. I am sure cloudy is WAY faster than that bath tub trimaran.... (No offence to the trimaran guys) But cloudy gots the look, accomadations, as well as speedy if the right Captain is at the helm! Good day, MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS!
Yes Zeke, it was a good experience. But wouldn't replace Cloudy with a big piece of carbon fibre :) We plan to have a new vids coming every Friday now .... for as long as we've got fresh material. So take a valium after watching the latest and hopefully that will last you 6 days till the next :) Just now finished British Virgin Islands ..... we think these are going to be our best yet. Sorry for the supense !
Yeah, English is a pretty tough language for the average Englishman to learn! For all the other easier languages (Romanian, French, Spanish, Italian, Portugese) I have Oana :)
Truly enjoyed watching your video for the first time it is amazing when you buy a sailing vessel or motor vessel that you were always making it better than what the manufacturer is with the heat shrink and different little goodies it just funny that they don't do this great video Vegas bill
Yes, and we didn't really film the worst of it (didnt want to). In the bay there were still sunken boats everywhere. And 90% of yachts still afloat had no rig. Very sad
Hi Oana & Glen, Thanks for another great video, I was wondering if all the restaurants in Grand Case were able to survive the hurricane.... When I sailed past there way back in the late 90's, there were all these big huge motor yachts all anchored off and we were told the owners were all at their favorite spots enjoying the best cuisine on the island and did you two venture there to eat?
Yes, we did have a night out there. I think the restaurants rebuilt pretty quickly. But the main town and particularly the area around the south was still in a very bad shape, particularly on the French side.
the owner of yacht A is not Abramovich. in general, it is strange to see her in the Caribbean. I thought that the owner does not sail further than the Mediterranean. Greetings from Russia)
Paul, sorry .. you'll have to watch it again ... and retake the test again :) what I said was, "ahead we have The A, and over here with Mr. Abramivich competeing with Eclipse". Abramovish's eclipse was off our starboard beam.
This, the last video and the next few video are all from filming that we had not previously edited. So its new footage, from our 2019 season. It will take us all the way back up to USA as we again escape for the hurricane season. 2021 sailing adventures will start when we start sailing in 2021 .... not before :)
Can i ask what Is the flash you hoist , with the blue ensign ?( I have looked for it , bit coyld not find ) . Sorry if i missed ; you might have told somewhere .

Yes, it almost feels odd, as we edit them, to see "normal" life again!
Yes..I remember that Vang lactating on your deck. Memories!

Enjoying watching your trips again on Cloudy Bay and I hope your fitting out is going well.
Back to the boat in 2 weeks Matt. Cant wait.
Cheers, Cloudy.
You're welcome. We are not too happy about this and the last video ... but the next ones get better we think.

Thanks Bill, yes, while the Hallberg Rassy is a fantistic boat, well built, I do still like to improve it where I can.
Cant believe the devastation that still exists! Great post

Thanks Cloudy Bay. I'll see you next time, or next week right. ?????
Yep next week Eric .... already got a few lined up. These last 2 are not our best .... but the next few ramp up to being some of our best, we think.
"A machine gun onboard", that made me laugh.
Maybe we should set it up for Pirates!
Love going back to these videos when its -35 outside and 2 ft of snow on the ground.
How did the heat shrink on the hydraulic quick connects workout?
Really well. No corrosion since. Think I’ve undone and redone them a couple of times since then.

Angelo, yes it's quite an unusual one. It's the British ensign of Gibraltar.
Thanks for anwering !!!
What is the draft of your HR54? Thanks.
Matt, fully laiden, its 8ft or 2.5m

Delightful to see the normal world (as we used to know it) without all the present day SARS-CoV-2 hysteria.
Yes, it almost feels odd to see as we edit these videos from 2019
