  • In this video I’m building a custom top for a bar I built complete with a 6” wide bar rail that you just want to lean on.

@@TheTrullGallery Thanks for your reply. Oh, did you screw the foot-rail into stud work?

@@DerekTJ It was through bolted with 1/4-20 screws and nuts, painted to match.

Awesome video! Just out of curiosity overall how did the oil finish adhere to the epoxy skim coat? And assuming the epoxy was to seal the oak for a long future?

With a scuff sanding, the stain went down well. Just like if you did a scuff coat of urethane (or most any other finish) and stained over that. You just need to seal everything in before your finish coats. It's been several months since the project was complete and my customers are very happy with the final results.

Great job! Where did you get the Bar Rail? Did you make it?

Thanks! That rail was beyond my skillset. I have a local millwork shop, North Rome Lumber, in Tampa, run it for me. I'm sure they're available on line too.

I know it as bar rail, but it may have other names. I got mine from a local millwork shop that ran it for me (North Rome Lumber, Tampa, FL). If you can't find it locally, I'm sure it's available online .

The bar rail armrest is a Chicago style rail. That’s what I am building.

Chicago Bar Rail is really expense. 😢
