All the Indiegames he shows from 10:17 till the end for the curious In order: FTL: Faster then Light One Finger Death Punch Five Nights at Freddys 2 Always Sometimes Monsters Valdis Story Abyssal City Octodad Dadliest Catch Nuclear Throne Don't Starve (although this is the trailer for the Reign of Giants expansion) To the Moon Nidhogg Dust: An Elysian Tail Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number LIMBO Child of Light Surgeon Simulator Rogue Legacy Anodyne Papers Please Shantae and the Pirates Curse VVVVVV FEZ Just so people that might saw something they might enjoy can look the games up.
MrLuizilla Ehh Child of Light semi counts since it's somewhat along the lines of Farcry Blooddragon or Grow Home where yes there is a publisher or even a well know Studio name behind it but the game itself is only developed by a very small margin of the actual staff. Also all the other games where Indie so i don't really see the reason to make an extra point just for that.
DLC's fine when it's an expansion like what Borderlands, Fallout, the Souls/Borne games, and Elder Scrolls do. But it's gotta be after the full game is released, not like what happened with Mass Effect 3 there.
+Seth Hawkins (DownsofFire) from what i heard the only reason it was cut from the released game was cuz it wasn't finished by the time they had to submit the game for rating and whatnot so they finished it up by release date.. granted that doesn't explain why they charged us for it
+GilArcher Wow dude really? They clearly said what the first season pass would include and not only that they included some stuff that wasn't even promised. And since when has it been decided that there can only be one season pass?
hypershadic88 Having one season pass is already god-fucking-awful, i could go on about it if you wanted, here's the concept: all DLC in the game for that price. End. When you lock more content behind another season pass that's almost as expensive as you'e just a fucking shitlord being a shitlord.
My biggest gripe is the reliance on the internet. I just recently got a 360(Yes, I know) and I thankfully have some friends that are letting me use their Xbox Live. But then I created my own profile, and since I don't have the money yet, I don't have Gold. Evidently this means that over half of what I can even do is cut off because I'm not online!
On Xbox one, if you have one person with LIVE, everyone on e system gets it. If you have a way to share a LIVE purchase with someone that you talk to regularly, then that could help you out at least.
+Jonathan Grubbs Agreed, but my gripe is that a lot of games that look good need Internet to function for some fucking reason. Besides the fact I live in a place that can't get good Internet, what the hell is wrong with just pure single player? For that matter, what the fuck is wrong with Local multiplayer? you keep seeing more and mre games that would be perfect for it pass it up for some goddamn reason.
Brendan Thomas I started playing Halo Reach, and I seems the only way to get enough credits is to play online. And I get what you're saying. It seems like a good number of games nowadays are just carriers for some for of online multiplayer, which while it may be fun, kind of leaves the rest of the single players out of the picture.
Let me fix that for you.... 1.UBISOFT 2.Electronic Assholes 3.Activision 4.Randy Pitchford 5.Microtransactions 6.Bad DLC 7.Preorder Content (This List isnt in a Specific Order, so dont get your Undies in a Twist...)
Ninntendo does DLC right. "Here's a good game that is completed and doesn't feel like it's missing content. And if you want something that we developed after the game's release so the main game didn't get delayed, we'll offer it for cheap and sometimes for free."
+karatekidaustin Cheap? Hah. The four Smash 4 DLC bundles currently out, assuming you buy the 3DS and WiiU combo for each, come out at almost as much as the combined price of both versions of the game.
Mario Kart 8's DLC was perfect. It was a genuine expansion, it was well designed, gave the game some more life and wasn't too expensive either. The bonus coloured Yoshis and Shy Guys were nice too.
Funny how you bring up indie games. Some people predict that soon, there will likely be an indie game crash, or market implosion. This is due to massive over-saturation of certain genres that are commonly produced by indie developers. For indie devs, making it big is a huge risk. You are up against so much other stuff, that there is almost a guarantee that you're gonna fail. Both AAA and indie are likely going to go through a tough period, where fewer games are released. I am fine with that, aslong as that means the quality goes up.
+Sawed Off Laser Indie games have only gotten more successful, and I'm pretty sure they'll continue to just get bigger. There are a lot of individual failures, sure, but there are also a lot more success stories. And big names like Sony are constantly finding indie games, financing them, and promoting them on the front page of the Playstation store. And let's not even get started on the Kickstarter success stories.
Dagda Mor Unfortunately, those tend to be the 1/1000 cases. The market for indie games is becoming hugely saturated, especially on platforms like Steam. I feel like, at some point, there will be a decline in the number of indie devs, followed by a strong rebound.
+The Omni Blade What are you talking about other than 2014 this decade has been amazing. games like skyrim , gta5, Batman Arkham city, Far cry 3, Bioshock infinite, last of us, dark souls, portal 2, red dead redemption and so much more. this year has blown 2014 out of the water with MGS 5 and the Witcher 3. honestly Nintendo is the only company I see having a hard time with 2014 being there only notable year this decade and I love Nintendo.
+Skull guy big problem nintendo had was they released the freaking Wii U waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early with no marketing. And which caused a domino effect and thats why we have a failing console and Splatoon smash and mario kart are just its life support before it dies in short ( could go into detail but i wont i have done it too many times and the story only kepts getting sadder)
WildManTheGamer Yeah also the name confused a lot of people. My brother honestly just realized a couple months ago that the wii u was its own thing and not an add on for the wii. But hey at least Nintendo have the 3DS.
+Anthony Chauvin Wow, never would have thought someone would rate Melia lowest of the party members. I respect your opinion though. For me, it's something along the lines of 7. Reyn 6. Sharla 5. Shulk 4. Riki 3. Seven 2. Melia 1. Dunban Although Riki and Shulk are interchangeable.
+גיל אומלי Obvious troll is obvious... Either that, or, you're an idiot who actually thinks, for some reason, that people actually thought the power glove was good.
The only series that does yearly releases right is Call of Duty, 3 developers swapping out per year so they get more than just one year to make the games. Series that do it wrong are Fifa, NFL, NHL, NBA, etc.
+Aron “Deuce” Erlichman The Call of Duty games are shit and just the same game though. Why would you want to play "Tag" for years and years? Oh yeah, FISH AI OMG!
I agree with this a lot, the game industry just doesn't feel anything like it used to. It's all about corporate greed over making a good game, and the fact that newer games from publishers are being churned out in an assembly line more than actually giving the developers any creative control. As a result, we get games that are unfinished and glitchy (Sonic Boom, Assassin's Creed Unity, etc.), as well as games that feel like more of the same and nothing that's truly new or different, just rehash after rehash, and it gets tiresome after so long. It's a wonder indie games are becoming so big anymore.
Requires constantly being online, no split-screen multiplayer, cash cow syndrome (micro transactions), release titles during holiday season and then release a proper patch AFTER that, announcing DLC's while the game is in preorder, preorder, DLC's locked on disk, everlasting beta (PS Home haunts me), and publishers! Anyone have something to add to this list?
Okay, I still have two suggestions for you - Top 5 Pokemon Spin-off Games Top 5 Video Game Horses I feel these would be interesting to watch, given some of your recent Top 5's have gone away from games to really gauge your opinion on certain practices. Hope you consider my suggestions.
+Billybo10000 My Top 3 Video Game Horses: 1 - Aggro from Shadow of the Colossus 2 - Epona from Legend of Zelda 3 - Ruin and Despair from Darksiders Franchise I could only think of 3.
I got scared at the start, from how Rabbid was sounding it, this was going to be some whiny list on how things were better in his day and gaming is dead. Although he did pick the obvious choices #5-2, I think Rabbid was really respectful with it and didn't sound whiny. That is hard to do with this topic and being a major gamer in childhood.
Broken games, having to be online to play your games at all, having to install every game even if you got it physical, true backwards compatibility not being mandatory (Nintendo gets it), having versions of the game that lack content on some systems but still retail at full price (watch dogs, Splinter cell), having to pay to use the internet I already pay for (Nintendo gets it), delaying games, NOT delaying broken games.
+MalikJC The internet paying issue is for keeping up maintenance and security on servers, as well as buying servers in the first place. If you don't pay, you have extremely weak security (Look at the infamous Sony Hack from way back) and extremely weak netcode on the servers (That's why Nintendo actually falls behind on Online play and is the laggiest of the three,) if you pay, you get better and more servers, that's the jist of it.
MalikJC That's because hardly anyone cares about Nintendo's major internet servers because Nintendo is leagues behind the others in what they're doing online. Hacking or trying to take down Nintendo's servers over Sony's and Microsoft's is basically like trying to rob a gas station when you have the ability and equipment to rob a bank, it isn't worth the effort..
Allistor Richards I knew you would give me that extremely weak excuse. Hacking Nintendo gives you 3DS and Wii U, and I don't know what numbers your going by but that's more than Xbox or Playstation. Try again please. We shouldn't have to pay for online play. I doubt it's for a more stable experience because once again they're the ones getting hacked. But even if that was the reason why they still offer a basic free option.
Allistor Richards I treated you like an adult like an adult and I expect the same from you. If you resort to name calling again I'll have to assume you are a child and not worth my time. Now as for Xbox and PS being bigger than Nintendo. The WiiU and 3DS combined is at about 60+ million. The ps4 has 20 and the vita has 10, Xbox 1 has about 12. That's not higher.
I have to say I LOVE how you used Unfinished battle as the transition music in this video. i got into Xenoblade about two months ago and I LOVE that song.
Apparently DONTNOD Entertainment went through quite a few publishers when they were trying to get Life is Strange off the ground. They were finally able to settle with Square Enix; the only publisher who would let them make a game with a female protagonist.
+Xackadee Wait-are you saying that the other companies wouldn't let them make a game because...the protagonist was female...? I uh...I need a moment to process so much stupid...give me a year...
You may be here for a long time. But square enix already published too many games where the protagonist or one of the main protagonist was a girl so why not?
For day 1 dlc, there's an industry explanation: when a game is sent into the ESRB, it takes a few months, where the game is completed, yet stays unreleased. during that time, devs will use that time to work on DLC
I honestly hate what gaming has become. Only Nintendo has stayed true to what gaming truly is. And they're hated for it -_- (excluding the WiiI) I can't believe he hasn't mentionned how games are more slightly interactive movies than actual games now.
+ChampionRevilo You have to admit whoever is controlling their copyright practices like TH-cam, Twitch, and fan events etc. is clearly completely out of touch with their consumers. They don't understand that all of it is basically free advertising and that people do these things because they love Nintendo...and what do they get for it? They get shut down, they get fined, they get treated like criminals.
+ChampionRevilo Nintendo is stagnant as all hell. Won't upgrade to meet the technological standards that the cool games they want to make requires, won't go out on a limb and make some truly new shit like they did back in the day. Nintendo has lost their edge with poor marketing, rehashing, and refusing to really move forward.
one thing i like from games is a story, or better yet, a sandbox, ( By the term, story, i mean that the game focuses on the story, and links it with the gameplay, not cutscenes ) it gives you a good sense of achievement, loss and any other emotions but sandbox games, to me, its like a create your own story, which i love
+SSBBPOKEFAN The event Pokemon are also on the cartridge when you buy them. They're technically not DLC, they're just part of the game that Nintendo isn't letting you access until you go to a Toys R Us when Nintendo says. Which sucks.
Funniest part is this morning, I stumbled onto a video, an hour long extension of the final boss theme from a game called monster girl quest. I knew absolutely nothing about it, but the music was amazing. I went into the comments and was a mix of surprised and disappointed once I figured out just a little more about it. Instead of discussing, uh, what that game is though, I'm going to talk about a line of comments I saw. They were on topic with this video on how modern day gaming is really messy, but that's mainly by triple A titles and publishers. What you brought up at the end about how indie games are much more popular at this point in time, was something they even mentioned.
Last I looked, Train Simulator had $5,200 worth of dlc. And it was mostly just different trains. At the very least, they came with horns, whereas in Planetside 2, you have to buy one; it's pay to honk
+no pls With That Much Money.... Id Rather Buy The Old School Transport Tycoon Instead Of Train Simulator... And Ill Aslo Buy A Bunch Of Steam Games And Some Stuff For My Computer Heck Maybe A Another Computer Or Console And Some More Games
+Di Luigi You're not supposed to buy all of it - just the DLC you want. Model railroaders don't just buy every model train in a store. Is it overpriced? Yes, and I recommend ONLY buying it when it's on sale.
My rule on DLC is that it can be anything they want it to be, but DLC must be EXTRA content. I don't care if it's a new costume, bonus level, or extra side story, the game alone must be complete without the need for DLC. Bad DLC would be something like the normal game ending with a cliff hanger and the DLC is there providing a paywall to get to the finale.
I was expecting things like “oh modern gaming is too easy, kids these days will never understand what we went through” but oh my god you’re so right about publishers.
Actually, more minor Day-1 DLC usually isn't lopped off. It's content created after that dev department was done or created after the shipping date, but before release. There is quite a bit of time between the shipping date and release date, after all.
Just opened video. First thing I hear: Unfinished Battle from Xenoblade. Got confused because I didn't think I was playing my iTunes. I love you Rabbid.
Why the hell was Littlebigplanet3 shown during PreOrder bonuses? it had no exclusive PreOrder bonuses except some dlc costumes that could already be bought in LBP2.
They are all imitating each other now more strongly then in any other time. Some will say the late 90s were SM64 clones but in reality each 3D Platformer game was WAY different in mechanics and the companies were a lot more independent back then which was slowly eroding. The controls going from SM64 to Banjo-Kazooie was like going from the twin prop aeroplanes to the beginnings of the jet age with small commercial jets. Banjo Tooie would be larger sized jets that would hearald in transatlantic flights. Todays video games is going to more *boring* jets making them smaller and owned by one or two airliners instead of having multiple choices with difference in services.
Not a single game he showed in the entire video is one I either play, have played, or would play. And not to sound like Nintendo is perfect (because lets face it they certainly isn't) but compared to a large amount of the more adults targeted games like FPS's for example, very often are the games subject to these types of problems. This is partly why I really don't like sony or microsoft, because after playing several of their games (over 200 in total between both companies) on all of their systems (except ps vita) I can say with 100% honesty that I didn't like a single one I played.
+Zodyrus Sevaron I did show Mario Kart 8. And Twilight Princess. And Ocarina of Time. And Skyward Sword. And Super Smash Bros. You sure you haven't played those? Or that you wouldn't ever like to play them?
rabbidluigi Oh crap. I didn't even notice those clips lol. Well I've played Ocarina of time and smash bros, Never had any interest in skyward sword, twlight princess, or mario kart though. But I guess I wasn't paying attention, or should've phrased it differently. Your voice can be very distracting when I'm watching your videos lol
+Zodyrus Sevaron Then why in the world are you even gaming!? I know things have gone downhill but to say you can't find something you like out of over 200 titles means you either have no clue how to pick a game or have no interest in gaming. I've just about grown out of gaming but even I could find at least one enjoyable enjoyable out of 200.
***** I said specifically Sony and Microsoft titles. Nintendo titles I can enjoy no problem, but there's just something about the ones done by sony and microsoft that I don't like. I don't really know what it is, it honestly could be blind nostalgia making it impossible for me to like them. I couldn't tell you.
Zodyrus Sevaron Were you referring specifically to 1st party MS and Sony games or all the games available on their consoles? I have to admit Nintendo has a specific style to most of its 1st party games.
Companies pulling content away from consumers. DLC or updates that was promised but pulled away for odious reasons makes my seethe with rage. The most recent example being Mortal Kombat X where the PC player base was given the first DLC package and then denied the second, even if they bought the season pass. I don't know about you but when I buy a game, I want the option to get everything in that game.
#5 Motion controls are always a hit and miss kind of thing. A game either becomes better because of how it uses them, or it falls flat on its face. Sadly, the latter is more common than the former. #4: I don't know much about this Early Access stuff, but I suppose that if a person can't finish a game without some funds early on, then I don't really blame them. I blame money instead. #3: Losing at least 10% of a game just because you didn't pre-order it? That's one of the most stupid things I've heard. A pre-order bonus should give a bonus, not cut off part of the game for most people. #2: I don't mind DLC if it was added some time later, as long as it is sensible. If the DLC is something that was already thought of and removed on purpose in order to become DLC, that's where I draw the line. That, or if there's TOO MUCH DLC. I once pulled out a calculator and added up the prices for every DLC item for LittleBigPlanet, and there was over $200 in DLC, and I was just calculating that for the FIRST game. SERIOUSLY?!?!? #1: I hope those publishers choke on their coin.
You know what I hate about old gaming, that's even worse than hand holding? The horrific convenience. You know, unintuitive controlls and gameplay, "Where the f*ck do I go"-moments and cryptic progression.
The whole "day 1 DLC" thing is highly misunderstood. Usually it occurs when the team has already sent the finished game off fir certification, quality assurance, and to given an official rating. But to avoiding being stuck with nothing to do, the developers can start working on DLC for the game, and sometimes they finish it in time for the game's release. They don't just remove already finished content from the game. At least not usually.
The things that annoy me are quick time sections where if you get it wrong you die, and auto saving also sucks big time. You should be able to save when and where you want. Thankfully both Dishonored 1 and 2, Bioshock 1 and 2 and Thief 2014 have the luxury of saving when it pleases you. Lastly games also have quite a lot of cutscenes which thankfully can be skipped most of the time.
@1:11 It was on 1st February 2015 that a man by the name of "rabbidluigi" started the legacy that would later become better known as the "Butts Saga". It involved a never-ending string of suggestions on what rabbidluigi could use on one of his Top Fives. These events were originally set in motion by a suggestion, made by rabbidluigi himself, that the next countdown should be "Top Five Butts in Video Games". Historians were at a loss for whether it was meant to be taken seriously or not, but more research has uncovered plans dictating that these topics were only included as a short joke that may have pleased eagle-eyed viewers who were willing to pause the video to take in said joke. Additional discoveries have found that rabbidluigi had developed an obsession for jokes that would require the viewer to take time out their viewing experience to take in a joke that was never intended to be seen at the speed the video was played at. This type of visual gag appeared on 4th October 2015 when a fake history book was adorned with a whole wall of text explaining the rise of the "Butts Saga" ans his subsequent love of short visual jokes. His viewers had always pointed out small errors in small aspects of his evidence and as it seemed only right that he should include small quirks (?) that not everyone would instantly pick up on. Researchers have discovered that at some point in writing the "fake history book", rabbidluigi ran out of points to make and interesting thing to write and instead decided to talk about whatever was on his mind at the time, Supposedly, the font he used to write in was so hard to read that he wasn't sure if he had made any mistakes due to being unable to read what had already been written. There was also a passage about how great "Undertale" was, though leading historians are unsure what this means, exactly. Pictured below is a picture of rabbidluigi at his finest. [Insert a picture of Charizard with Rabbid's face photoshopped onto it]
Pre-ordering Nintendo games and niche games in my area still seems like a necessity if you want to get a physical copy anywhere near release. I'll never forget that every retailer in town was out of Smash 3DS for months after release, unless you wanted a used copy which was few and far between. As for niche games, I got Danganronpa Ultra Despair Gils day 1 with my pre-order and then saw that the game is no longer available anywhere for about 50-70 miles. Doesn't help that so few stores even sell Vita games.
what was the music at the beginning of the video and during the interlubes. also rabbid.. there is a slim chance your reading this but can you but the songs that are in your countdowns in the description boxes. it would be nice
It's not always the game companies that are the problem. There are some people out there who really make me ashamed to call myself a gamer. The jerks who constantly swear online, the holier-than-thou pricks who call every game crap without playing them and look down on anyone who gives them a chance, the console warriors who leap on any opportunity to call one mass of carefully arranged sand worse than another...and that's not even getting into the misogyny.
For Asura's a wrath, the main reason we got the Part IV nirvana as DLC, is because it was originally going to be its own full game. The first tanked in sales, and what was going to be a new game was condensed into DLC for the sake of concluding the Twist ending of the original game.
I think the absolute worst part of pre-ordering is this: you might just be paying full retail price for a sub-par product. Sometimes, marketing can build up a lot of excitement through being vague and making promises about it's game. Well, alright, that's fine then, just wait until the game comes out and has it's stuff revealed, right? But then they dangle that little carrot in front of you, that piece of pre-order bonus that you can absolutely never obtain again by any means. So, you either miss out on something smaller that you won't be able to get ever again, or take a gamble that the game WILL be everything promised despite nothing being shown. It's a real shame that pre-order bonuses have become such a staple of marketing, but it's even worse when the companies use that as their way of helping to cover up what a mediocre job they do at making the game itself. They'll put more effort into people buying the product than they will the product itself.
the thing about what dlc should be (in my opinion) is perfectly shown in smash bros. the game only released stages, characters, and costumes. Each thing (except the costumes) provide a new way or place to play without actually needing it. There are plenty of characters as it is and when a character comes out you can always borrow a friend's who actually bought the character to try it yourself. The best part though is the fact that they always come in a full pack that usually takes off a good amount of the cost.
#2: what about expansions. Build onto the world, move the endgame somewhere else, add some stuff, change a lot of stuff, new art assets, new challenges, new stories. Repeat every few years.
The controls going from SM64 to Banjo-Kazooie was like going from the twin prop aeroplanes to the beginnings of the jet age with small commercial jets. Banjo Tooie would be larger sized jets that would hearald in transatlantic flights and having good entertainment features. Todays video games is going to more boring jets making them smaller and owned by one or two airliners instead of having multiple choices with difference in services.
5. Tutorials. What's that? Oh yes, I didn't know I needed to joystick to move. Thanks for pausing my game, loading a menu, and stopping me from having a good first impression. Really, I mean it. 4. Yearly Releases. What's the point in buying a game is you're gonna get the same thing in a year? 3. DLC on launch. ...Seriously? Yes, giving me this makes me love you all the more. I'm gonna buy your next game for sure. 2. Simulators. There's the occasional good one, but most of them are pretty crap, and I'd rather not to have trash all over the room. 1. Microtransactions. I should be able to play the game as long as I like, have to pay you so I can keep playing. What the fuck? It's a video game, not a fucking drug deal. Imagine you were playing your favorite game of all time. If you lose, or die, or whatever symbolizes defeat, you get to pay the company $5. Now imagine you're on a really hard level or a boss that has an instakill attack. Or EVERY boss has an instakill attack. Or maybe saving costs money, or the shop items cost real money. Maybe reviving a party member costs $15. You can get a critical hit or a higher jump if you pay some money. Maybe a hint if it's a puzzle game. Or if it's a sports game, all your players get a speed boost. Maybe online mode or voice chat costs money. Would that game still be your favorite?
I hate how modern games tend to poorly implement melee combat where the best tactic is to wait for the opponent to attack, and then press the counter button, and repeat.
#3 for me: Just go to target, it's 1$, and you get 5$ in in store credit. I got MK8, the free game with it, the steering wheel for jack and shit because it was free with MK8, and 5$ for things. Not to mention it works with ALL preorders.
'We can get into a debate about internet leaks another day' In my opinion, that's the biggest problem with modern games. It's so difficult to avoid spoilers for games now that it makes them less fun. I knew about all the secret characters in the new Smash Bros weeks before the game had been released, even though I was trying to avoid seeing them.
Top 5/10 (favorite?) short but sweet games, basically games that have somewhere near 24 hours of gameplay to it (main story and possibly exclude sidequests/optional stuff) , but still manage to be a great game like other longer games. Personal 5: 5: Mario and luigi super star saga (it was fairly short with just the mainstory, and even some of the optional stuff you could do wasn't that long. Great RPG with a good sense of humor even to this day) 4: Pokemon mystery dungeon Explorers of time (didn't play explorers of the sky, but it is still a fairly short game which has a good story for being a pokemon game, and a great soundtrack to boot) 3: The legend of zelda minish cap ( a good example on capcom doing a great job on a 2D zelda game, albeit very short unless you do the kingstone fusion/mysterious shell trade sidequests) 2: Final fantasy 5 (I'm fairly certain maingame is more or less 24 hours max, and maybe another 6 for the optional stuff, also pls no hate for not putting FF6 here, although it has better character development and story i prefer V's combat system and VI's ATB is freaking stupid waiting a full second before the action happens) 1: Dust an elysian tail (have only put 15 or so hours into it and done most of the game although haven't completely 100%(pretty much just optional challenges and 1 quest left) it. A game that has great visuals and artstyle, fantastic soundtrack and good character development on a handful of characters. It also has a nice combat system)
Like what you said in #2, Star Wars battlefront was sold as a full game, 60 dollars and all! I had some enjoyment but, it didn't feel complete (it felt SMAL). And the DLC was 50 dollars! The original game didn't have a campaign, and only 4 of the 9 online games are good.
I preorder ONLY if I know I'm going to want it, so I don't take the risk of my local gamestop being out. (I live in a small town and the next gamestop is 8 miles away, so to get to another game store I'd have to drive quite a while.)
Lunara Hunter heheh, just eight eh? Try 30+ miles. Rural lifestyle has its benefits yes, but there are waaay more drawbacks when you look at these kind of things.

...rabbid, i'm so proud of you. you managed o tackle and issue that no other TH-camr dares to even approach due to fear of having there video taken down, but i need to break something to you regarding publishers. there is one that is more evil than all of the others combine, you didn't name names, but i knew well your target. there is one single publisher that is so vile, so utterly consumed by its own greed that is had a hand in every single trend on this list. one company that is willing to take any road to garner profit...one company that has stooped to levels that not even 573 (look up on TV tropes what that stands for i refuse to let my comment be taken down) and you mentioned them. i would like to have a long discussion about this, but TH-cam is monitored and a have neither a twitter, nor a Facebook in order to avoid attracting attention. tell me how i can contact you and i will give you the full details on how gaming is going to die if we don't stop this now.
Worst thing ever: Microtransactions in a $60 game!!

+rabbidluigi that game was a masterpiece!
VVVVVV is so great!
+Thor der Donnergott Wait, Child of Light isn't indie. It was published by Ubisoft.
MrLuizilla
Ehh Child of Light semi counts since it's somewhat along the lines of Farcry Blooddragon or Grow Home where yes there is a publisher or even a well know Studio name behind it but the game itself is only developed by a very small margin of the actual staff.
+Seth Hawkins (DownsofFire) from what i heard the only reason it was cut from the released game was cuz it wasn't finished by the time they had to submit the game for rating and whatnot so they finished it up by release date.. granted that doesn't explain why they charged us for it
+Divinehero1
EA at it's finest (shittiest), ladies and gentlemen.
+Divinehero1 They charged for it because it had to spend more time in development. Artistic integrity doesn't keep the lights on in the studio.
My 3DS is cut off from the internet for some reason I definitely feel left out a lot of the time.
Sparx632 That's okay cause you can still have fully functional agmes on it, and most don't have DLC, besides Smash and Rebirth

Number 1: The fact this list SOMEHOW needs updating!
Megamean09 Sorry, I should've been clearer. I meant to say that the main parts are cheap. I mean characters only cost 4 dollors each.
because you are buying 8 DLC packs
conan1412 Well still. You don't NEED the DLC to havea complete game.
Mario Kart 8's DLC was perfect. It was a genuine expansion, it was well designed, gave the game some more life and wasn't too expensive either. The bonus coloured Yoshis and Shy Guys were nice too.
I'm liking the contents of that history book.
So I know that the transition music is Unfinished Battle from Xenoblade Chronicles, but what is that supposed to represent?
And which caused a domino effect and thats why we have a failing console and Splatoon smash and mario kart are just its life support before it dies in short
( could go into detail but i wont i have done it too many times and the story only kepts getting sadder)
WildManTheGamer Yeah also the name confused a lot of people. My brother honestly just realized a couple months ago that the wii u was its own thing and not an add on for the wii. But hey at least Nintendo have the 3DS.

Wow, never would have thought someone would rate Melia lowest of the party members. I respect your opinion though.
For me, it's something along the lines of
7. Reyn
6. Sharla
5. Shulk
4. Riki
3. Seven
2. Melia
1. Dunban
Although Riki and Shulk are interchangeable.
I like Melia quite a bit, for me it would be like

Oh yeah cuz there was never crappy motion contorls in the old days right power glove?
...It's so bad.
+גיל אומלי Obvious troll is obvious... Either that, or, you're an idiot who actually thinks, for some reason, that people actually thought the power glove was good.
I said it sucked
And that he shouldent say that 20 years ago the were better motion controlls
+גיל אומלי Thing is though is that bad motion controls are more common today. I mean DLC (good and bad) did exist back in the day to some extent.
+karatekidaustin Oh hey man. I didn't expect to see you on a RabidLugi Top 10 Video.
Do a top 5 worst things about retro gaming, because it has it's issues as well
The only series that does yearly releases right is Call of Duty, 3 developers swapping out per year so they get more than just one year to make the games.
Series that do it wrong are Fifa, NFL, NHL, NBA, etc.
Basically every sports game, is what you're saying.
dimentiorules Yes, all they change in the games is who's in what team.
Assassins Creed kinda has
+Aron “Deuce” Erlichman The Call of Duty games are shit and just the same game though. Why would you want to play "Tag" for years and years?
Oh yeah, FISH AI OMG!
And Train Simulator
I agree with this a lot, the game industry just doesn't feel anything like it used to. It's all about corporate greed over making a good game, and the fact that newer games from publishers are being churned out in an assembly line more than actually giving the developers any creative control.
As a result, we get games that are unfinished and glitchy (Sonic Boom, Assassin's Creed Unity, etc.), as well as games that feel like more of the same and nothing that's truly new or different, just rehash after rehash, and it gets tiresome after so long. It's a wonder indie games are becoming so big anymore.
Oh hey, that Street Fighter V footage at 5:18 is from Maximilian!
Okay, I still have two suggestions for you -

Allistor Richards Nintendo has never once been hacked and shut down.
One of the funnier written top 5's you've released Rabbid. Great work as usual. 👍

Yeah, I know. I've given up trying to process it.
Xackadee I just don't even-I'm pretty sure that's sexist in so many ways and I don't even know if I can count those ways.
You may be here for a long time. But square enix already published too many games where the protagonist or one of the main protagonist was a girl so why not?
joshua allen
Too many?
For day 1 dlc, there's an industry explanation: when a game is sent into the ESRB, it takes a few months, where the game is completed, yet stays unreleased. during that time, devs will use that time to work on DLC
I honestly hate what gaming has become. Only Nintendo has stayed true to what gaming truly is. And they're hated for it -_- (excluding the WiiI) I can't believe he hasn't mentionned how games are more slightly interactive movies than actual games now.
Heck I like nintendo and even I have a grip with what they're doing (not to the point of wanting them to go) like the TH-cam bullshit
+ChampionRevilo Gaming has only gotten better. You're just not bothering to look where you should be.
AceofJays15 Their marketing has gotten a lot better recently
one thing i like from games is a story, or better yet, a sandbox,
( By the term, story, i mean that the game focuses on the story, and links it with the gameplay, not cutscenes )
it gives you a good sense of achievement, loss and any other emotions
but sandbox games, to me, its like a create your own story, which i love
That's why I love Pokémon: The DLC (event Pokémon) is completely optional, fun to play with, and best of all FREE!!!
+SSBBPOKEFAN The only problem is you only have ONE chance to get it or its gone forever.
+Daniel Lewis "One chance" as in "There are some event pokemom that haven't been released in YEARS."
+SSBBPOKEFAN The event Pokemon are also on the cartridge when you buy them. They're technically not DLC, they're just part of the game that Nintendo isn't letting you access until you go to a Toys R Us when Nintendo says.
Which sucks.
Dagda Mor
That's why I don't like it.
+akakaka sedds I thought you were talking about Smash Bros until you said " _only_ based around amiibos".
8:08 3119.70 bucks of dlc!?
yup... train simulator
Exactly
+Di Luigi You're not supposed to buy all of it - just the DLC you want. Model railroaders don't just buy every model train in a store. Is it overpriced? Yes, and I recommend ONLY buying it when it's on sale.
My rule on DLC is that it can be anything they want it to be, but DLC must be EXTRA content. I don't care if it's a new costume, bonus level, or extra side story, the game alone must be complete without the need for DLC. Bad DLC would be something like the normal game ending with a cliff hanger and the DLC is there providing a paywall to get to the finale.
+hgnbfc2 Like Asura's Wrath

Zodyrus Sevaron
Were you referring specifically to 1st party MS and Sony games or all the games available on their consoles? I have to admit Nintendo has a specific style to most of its 1st party games.
Companies pulling content away from consumers.
DLC or updates that was promised but pulled away for odious reasons makes my seethe with rage.
The most recent example being Mortal Kombat X where the PC player base was given the first DLC package and then denied the second, even if they bought the season pass.
I don't know about you but when I buy a game, I want the option to get everything in that game.
I agree I hate DLC Specially when it completes the Fucking Story WHAT?! THEN WHAT DID I PAY FOR?!?
My biggest problem: Barely anymore secrets, because it ALWAYS gets leaked (sometimes, even days BEFORE the game is even released)
5: Endless grinding >.<
4: Near impossible levels
3: Getting no rewards from grinding
2: Most motion control
1: Pre-Orders
3:33
What game is this?
You know what I hate about old gaming, that's even worse than hand holding? The horrific convenience. You know, unintuitive controlls and gameplay, "Where the f*ck do I go"-moments and cryptic progression.
Oh, and lack of content as well being overall outdated.
What about endless handholding and microtransactions?
3:46 - What does that say about Dwarf Fortress?
@1:11
It was on 1st February 2015 that a man by the name of "rabbidluigi" started the legacy that would later become better known as the "Butts Saga".
I couldn't agree more with Number 1. So much truth right there.
7 Days To Die is like that, currently in Alpha 15.2 and is already being modded. A few of the mods have made the game complete. Starvation and Valmod.
Top 5 Steam Green-light abominations.
I mean, you end the video talking about it. It would only be fair to make an episode about it.
That "Unfinished Battle/Unfinished Business" though
the thing about what dlc should be (in my opinion) is perfectly shown in smash bros. the game only released stages, characters, and costumes.
What's the name of the song during each transition?.
Was motion control still a thing when this was filmed?
What about Top Ten Disterbing Moments From Non-Horror Games as a Halloween countdown, Rabbid?
+Chromastone64 Didn't he already remake that list?
+f1s53r He did disturbing 'levels' not moments.
Top ten guilty pleasure games if you haven't done it already.
Someone knows the music playing whenever the counter comes out?
Unfinished Battle(Xenoblade Chronicles)
I'm still waiting for that Top 5 Butts and I will wait as much as necessary, I know that one day, it will come
What's the music between the number countdown, it sounds really familiar.
Unfinished Battle from Xenoblade Chronicles
+Anastasia Davies (RWyvern) thanks for responding to my question, I would look the song on TH-cam now.
Not a problem! It's very easy to find, the normal version and a looped version!
This has been out for 2 years and just now I realized there was a picture of a Charizard with Rabbids head on it...
What's the song in the transition between numbers
I hate how modern games tend to poorly implement melee combat where the best tactic is to wait for the opponent to attack, and then press the counter button, and repeat.
#3 for me:
Just go to target, it's 1$, and you get 5$ in in store credit.
I got MK8, the free game with it, the steering wheel for jack and shit because it was free with MK8, and 5$ for things.
Not to mention it works with ALL preorders.
I think I recognized some footage from the very first episode of the yogscast's original minecraft series.. now those were some good times :D
What song is played at the beginning??
A suggestion:
Top 5 therapeutic things in video games (like an arachnophobic player killing spiders)
The number 1 reason is why I tried to upload a video yesterday about how Ea has forgotten why they actually make video games.
'We can get into a debate about internet leaks another day'
In my opinion, that's the biggest problem with modern games. It's so difficult to avoid spoilers for games now that it makes them less fun. I knew about all the secret characters in the new Smash Bros weeks before the game had been released, even though I was trying to avoid seeing them.
that Tears of Grace Tony Hawk 5 part, I loved it
4:50 wut is that game?
+robertthekingful not just cause 2 but the game after it?
+robertthekingful The FPS? That one's Overwatch.
thanks :)
+robertthekingful i dont want to be mean but thats just cause 3
How about Top Ten Disterbing Moments From Non Horror Games? It's nearly Halloween, so it'd be perfect!
Top 5/10 (favorite?) short but sweet games, basically games that have somewhere near 24 hours of gameplay to it (main story and possibly exclude sidequests/optional stuff) , but still manage to be a great game like other longer games.
Personal 5:
5: Mario and luigi super star saga (it was fairly short with just the mainstory, and even some of the optional stuff you could do wasn't that long. Great RPG with a good sense of humor even to this day)
4: Pokemon mystery dungeon Explorers of time (didn't play explorers of the sky, but it is still a fairly short game which has a good story for being a pokemon game, and a great soundtrack to boot)
3: The legend of zelda minish cap ( a good example on capcom doing a great job on a 2D zelda game, albeit very short unless you do the kingstone fusion/mysterious shell trade sidequests)
2: Final fantasy 5 (I'm fairly certain maingame is more or less 24 hours max, and maybe another 6 for the optional stuff, also pls no hate for not putting FF6 here, although it has better character development and story i prefer V's combat system and VI's ATB is freaking stupid waiting a full second before the action happens)
1: Dust an elysian tail (have only put 15 or so hours into it and done most of the game although haven't completely 100%(pretty much just optional challenges and 1 quest left) it. A game that has great visuals and artstyle, fantastic soundtrack and good character development on a handful of characters. It also has a nice combat system)
Excellent music choices in this video. :)
Like what you said in #2, Star Wars battlefront was sold as a full game, 60 dollars and all! I had some enjoyment but, it didn't feel complete (it felt SMAL). And the DLC was 50 dollars! The original game didn't have a campaign, and only 4 of the 9 online games are good.
i would watch this, but i don't feel like being depressed right now. i'll come back later...
Top 5 Most Wanted Characters for Smash Bros DLC since the ballot ended.
Where can I get your shirt?
I preorder ONLY if I know I'm going to want it, so I don't take the risk of my local gamestop being out. (I live in a small town and the next gamestop is 8 miles away, so to get to another game store I'd have to drive quite a while.)
Lunara Hunter heheh, just eight eh? Try 30+ miles. Rural lifestyle has its benefits yes, but there are waaay more drawbacks when you look at these kind of things.
Lunara Hunter and thats to the nearest one too...
What is the name of the game at 5,26?
It was on 1st Febuary 2015 that a man who went by the name Rabbidluigi started the legacy that would later become better known as the 'Butts Saga'. It involved a never-ending string of suggestions on what topic Rabbidluigi could use in one of his Top Fives. These events were originally set in motion by a suggestion made by Rabbidluigi himself that the next topic could be 'Top Five Butts in Video Games.' Historians are currently at a loss whether this idea was intended to be taken seriously or not, but more research has uncovered plans dictating that these topics were only included as a short joke that may have pleased eagle-eyed viewers who were willing to pause the video to take in said joke.
...rabbid, i'm so proud of you. you managed o tackle and issue that no other TH-camr dares to even approach due to fear of having there video taken down, but i need to break something to you regarding publishers. there is one that is more evil than all of the others combine, you didn't name names, but i knew well your target. there is one single publisher that is so vile, so utterly consumed by its own greed that is had a hand in every single trend on this list. one company that is willing to take any road to garner profit...one company that has stooped to levels that not even 573 (look up on TV tropes what that stands for i refuse to let my comment be taken down) and you mentioned them. i would like to have a long discussion about this, but TH-cam is monitored and a have neither a twitter, nor a Facebook in order to avoid attracting attention. tell me how i can contact you and i will give you the full details on how gaming is going to die if we don't stop this now.
