  • It's time for another rousing addition of "My Friend's Boat!" This time, it's a 40' Searunner trimaran. After our farewells with our good friend Wolff, we're off to Ixtapa for some fun in the sun and a bit of surf. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

      Trimarans go over the sea, monohulls go through them...

    The thing you asked about in his boat is the remnants of a cactus.

    Great boat tour thanks. I'm curious why you went from a tri to a monohull? Would you do it again?

    • @SailingVesselAdventurer
      @SailingVesselAdventurer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I went from the tri to a mono hull because of the lack of pointing ability. In my home cruising waters, almost all of our sailing was either directly up wind or down. The down wind sailing was great and fast, but the upwind stuff was completely unproductive. We ended up motoring upwind which always drove me crazy!

      Interesting! I've not noticed a big difference in pointing between cats and mono hulls, maybe 5 degrees on either side. Is there something about trimarans that make them point badly? Did it have dagger boards or mini-keels?

      Brian Swanland Yeah, you have to have daggerboards or centerboards on a multihull.

    I just got one of these searunner trimarans :) His dingy roller system is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. If you are interested check out my latest video of our delivery.

    Let me try that again.......he has an interesting accent, German? Anyway a very quiet man & friend. Single guy traveling the seas all alone would not be my choice of lifestyle though. Got to have female companionship in order to make worthwhile.

      @SailingVesselAdventurer  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've got a good ear. German is correct! And I agree, sailing alone would be tough. I couldn't imagine doing it without Brenda around.

    Does the guy that owns the Searunner have a TH-cam channel?

  • @bayardtaylor4704

    Too. Small

    • @joeblow1942
      @joeblow1942 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bayard Taylor 40’ is too small? That’s huge. Cruisers with small simple boats usually cruise the longest. Look at the Pardeys.
