    Homestead land clearing is nothing like clear cutting the Amazon or the Pacific northwest! Give yourself a break. Great job!

    Thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure you are on!
    I would like to introduce you to a concept that you might already be aware of. The concept is "defendable space". This is a wildfire mitigation technique that saves homes and lives.
    We lived through a wildfire in 1996 that burned our whole neighborhood to the ground. When everyone else evacuated we stayed and saved our home. We have since become a "firewise" community and employ the idea that we keep a area around our home and structures that we can defend against wildfire. Something you might seriously consider.
    Thanks again for sharing your adventure!

      Thanks for the suggestion! We have actually talked about that topic quite a bit and have cleared a perimeter around the homesite. We hope we never have to go through what you did. Glad to hear you saved your home!

    Great series-- can't wait to see the progress. Do you plan on still sailing or are you now land dwellers again?

    • @SailingVesselAdventurer
      @SailingVesselAdventurer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do still plan on sailing. We're hoping to be back on the boat next winter if all goes as planned.

    That’s a huge project sir, but with the backhoe/skip it moves along pretty good. Your tree felling technique pretty good from here and it seems obvious that you are only clearing only what must be for the house location. Speaking of that, just what size house will it be And is it going to be just a get-away place?

    • @SailingVesselAdventurer
      @SailingVesselAdventurer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The house is going to be 1900 square feet, which I have to say is waaaaaaaay bigger than I think we need. But, Brenda has lived with me on a sailboat for 20 years and says she deserves a little more space than our floating home provides!

      @@SailingVesselAdventurer Well as the saying goes “Happy Wife-Happy Life” ! Lets face it buddy, Brenda has put up with a lot that a normal girl would not have!

    Too cold for humans to live there, but you still gotta have permits.

    You were supposed to say timber when following a tree

    Is there an episode that explains what is going on here? What happend to the boat and why are you building a house?
    Are you done sailing or are you gona build a little marina in your back yard?
    So many questions....

    • @SailingVesselAdventurer
      @SailingVesselAdventurer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is an episode called "we bought dirt" that explains most of it. We do still have the boat. It is waiting patiently for us in Mexico. We're hoping to be back on it and sailing next winter.
