- UPDATES for the month of July:
Please note, that I am taking my pharmacist licensure exams this month, which is why I haven't been uploading as regularly as I have been. I've been studying and prepping majority of the time. Also, I will be getting married July 27th, which is fast approaching! Honeymoon is the first week of August. Therefore, while I'll still be uploading before the wedding, it will be sporadic (not on a set day and time), depending on what free time I am able to get. Continue to enjoy and be sure to check out any other videos you may have missed! More updates soon, follow me on Twitter @ Saabkyle04LLC and facebook (link on the channel) to stay in the know!
Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! TH-cam's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we'll take an up close and personal, in-depth look at this true time capsule into the late 1970s, the 1979 Ford Ranchero GT Brougham.
During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the vehicle is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth educational videos of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of TH-cam!

my dad had a 79 Ranchero when I was a kid, had a 351 Windsor and he drove that that truck through 6 diffrent states. seeing that truck really brings back some childhood memories.
My grandpa had a green with wood trim 73 ranchero with a 351 Cleveland V8 that was removed and sold to be put in a mustang
My dad had IT too when i was like 2-3 years old
same here bruh...drove it through half the states in the US.
Mathew Hastings ....*car, it's a car, not a truck...,
Just from the name and the styling this car could have been made by Rockstar. The Rancher GT in the middle of San Andreas
Watching this brings back memories of one of the best cars I've owned! - What a sweet ride on Norwegian roads! 💓 (Btw; Am I the only one missing the 'oldfashioned' floor dimmer switch for the headlights?.....) If given the oportunity, I'd buy another Ranhero GT 500 Brougham in the blink of an eye!) . . . . . . Thanks for a fine review of this awesome car Kyle! 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This version (1977-1979) was based on the LTD-II chassis which had a 302 V8, automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes which made for a nice package. This one is in excellent condition. Don't see many of them now and this GT model has to be quite rare now :)
i love this channel because kyle show us all cars style...modern and he don´t forget the classics.
Gotta love that "torque twist" ;D
Hey Kyle, My name is Jorge Palacio, you got fans here in Mexico City, let me tell you , that you have a very interesting Job with all of these cars in your TH-cam videos...Cogratulations! great Job. Ranchero is a great car! thanks for all these videos!
I miss my Ranchero. Got rear ended and they totaled it out in 1998.
Hey thanks for reviewing a ranchero!! These cars often get overlooked, but i think they are cool cars.
I'm a fan of both the Ranchero and El Camino. I drove a '79 El Camino from1989 to 2000. I put close to 100,000 miles on that baby and sold it when it had nearly 200,000 miles. I had good service out of her and hated to sell her. She was sold to an automotive enthusiast in Shreveport, LA and he assured me he it was getting a good home, in addition to a complete engine overhaul. The paint and interior was still nice. No rust.
My grandpa had a '57 Ranchero back in the day. First year.
I miss my 78. One of the best cars I've ever owned aside of the gas mileage. I went everywhere in that thing.
Beautiful vehicle, I wish they still made them. :-(
Love the old rancheros and el caminos. They've got such a presence.
Congratulations Kyle!!!!!! Now you can teach your sons and/or daughters the fascinating wonder of automobiles, past and present!
this has to be my all time 2nd favorite car right after the 96 impala ss. very good video! congrats on the marriage. one of the most beautiful things in life.
I love Ford Rancheros!
That thing is massive. I wish fords today looked this cool.
I know I have one ,I plan to put a thunder bird HESDER PANEL ON IT AND CALL IT A "THUNDERCHERO"
We need the El Camino and Ranchero back.
It was a 1979, from like 1975 to like 1988 or even a little later cars had NO power, due to pollution/emission restriction things.
Extraordinary!!!!!
Congrats on your wedding and good luck on your exams! Remember your education is the first priority, if people are demanding videos then they need to wait.
Love it.. my dad had one back in the day.. it moved pretty good
You really are missing a point of his videos. He is not trying to sell anything of cars that he is showing. I like the variety what he´s showing for us, and because many of these are hard or impossible find outside u.s, it makes me an european more interested to watch them. I hope Kyle keeps these great reviews as long as he can...
Kyle,
Best of luck with your wedding !
There are a couple of options that you may not be aware of with Fords that are hard to detect, unless you're old like me ;. One is intermittent wipers. They are not very intuitive on older Fords. You turn the wiper switch to the LEFT from the stop position. Kinda weird. Also, the tilt steering wheel. You push the turn signal stalk toward the instrument panel. Again, not very intuitive. I wager the Ranchero had these options. VERY nice example !
hi kyle congratulate for the marriage and I wish you a happy life and success in your exams You are a good man
Always loved the Ranchero - the 79 is great because it was the end of the line. I actually like every body style that Ford came out with on the Ranchero line over the years.
if you think about it, it kinda is the better gran torino/elite coupe. the intermediate coupes always had a shorter wheelbase which meant: crappy room in the back - but this one obviously skips that and just gives you a massive bed. but you can still carry 3 people in it and it weighs a bit less.
I had forgotten what a sheering looked like with a airbag.. How I miss my Pontiac Trans-Am 6.6 Litre.. Thanks for the trip down memoery lane and good luck with getting hitched..
That's very awesome to hear bro. I can definitely tell that you've been studying really hard & I wish you the best of luck on the NAPLEX Exam :)
- Michael Land
Stop asking this poor guy to review things. He does what he can get his hands on, and that's a lot more than most of us can do.
Engine swap with a 7.3 powerstroke V8 and you have yourself a very interesting vehicle.
I doing that whit my
Sory Kyle, there is no Panther Chassis down below, it's just plain Torino as introduced in 1972 as I remember, which is not that bad after all. If you take a closer look, the whole car is 1976 Ford Torino with cleaned up quarter panels and the LTD II front end. You will even notice that they used the Ford Elite Hood on the LTD II. But nonetheless a great Ranchero. I would take it, even if it's black.
I don't understand why all of these are so loud, unless the one that i had didn't have a stock exhaust, I always had to open my door to hear if it was still running...It was sooo quiet and idled so smoothly I could never tell if it was still running
What a beauty! The competitor to the Chevy El Camino.
you're getting married on my birthday Kyle :) it's going to be a tremendous marriage ;) All the best from London.
Es increíble, es realmente hermoso por fuera y por dentro, pero además el sonido de ese motor es musica celestial.
Cool Sport Truck!
IZE,
There were several American cars that had the "Brougham" option. The Pontiac Catalina/Bonneville, Chevy Caprice, Olds 88/98 Chrysler Newport/New Yorker, and Ford LTD/Crown Victoria/Torino just to name a few. It was an option that usually included the more "popular" options such as power windows/locks/seat(s), A/C, Deluxe interior, light group, ect.
Congrats on the wedding man... luv your videos keep em coming
These cars are so rare, no one drives these beasts.
Love your reviews! I hope you have a great wedding and honeymoon and best of luck with the exams!
For me, my favourite model ranchero is the seventh generation and my least favourite is the sixth generation based on the ford torino
+Ryan Rush I agree; Well half agree. I don't care much for the Sixth Generation (72-76) Rancheros but I still think the Fifth Generation (70-71) Rancheros were the best looking with the Seventh Generations (77-79) being my second favorite years.
Wow, That takes me back...great video as always Dr. Kyle.
Surprisingly nice car. Another good job Kyle. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.
Good luck on your exams and enjoy your wedding day. Thanks!
While I'm not much into Fords, I like many of the Classic ones, the Ranchero included :). BTW, great video, really enjoyed it :)
grats on getting married and career !
My dad had a '68 Country Squire. I remember him shoving 8 other people besides the two of us in it to head up to Ohio. I'm still amazed at how massive they were because it is longer and wider than a Chevy Suburban.
Cool too see. I had one of those about 22 yrs ago. Mine was white with a metallic blue hood and accents.
A friend of mine has A 79 Ranchero GT with A 429 police persecute in it and it only has
35.000 miles on it. He loves it
I really enjoy your videos!! I didnt like classic cars until I saw your reviews really enjoyable
If the Malaise Era could be contained I one word it would be "Brougham"
Truly the end of one great chapter in FoMoCo history that dated back to 1957. It was saddening to learn Ranchero would not return for 1980.
Congrats man and good luck on the exam.
Man!! Wish they bring it back!! I really like the bed, and the whole shape and the tail lights are just awesome. They don’t make that style of tail beds or light anymore! I’d pay right now 30 grand!! Thx for the view!!! Is their a 78, 76? 02/25/22.
Love the classic stuff more than the modern stuff
Thats a fantastic car
In this future I plan on making a cruiser build that could also daily drive. My plans are to gut the engine and interiors to do a restomod
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLE(:
ahh yes, my dad had a ranchero sort of like this, but blue and i believe it was a 78. beautiful vehicle
hey man thats awesome i hope youre wedding will be on good july 27 (which is my birthday) anyway awesome
That's normal in the winter, you can tell this video was shot in the winter by the trees and the fact that Kyle is wearing a jacket. Something you would never wear in North Carolina in July. He's probably just getting around to posting the video.
My Birthdays on the 27th too. I hope you have a long and happy marriage. :)
When I was a kid back in the 70's, my parents bought a 1977 LTD Country Squire wagon. That car shared a lot of the same sheetmetal as this car/truck. Also, the interior is very similar, although the wagon was less "sporty". However, the wagon had a 460 cubic inch v8 with a 4 barrel carb. The car was very heavy, so performance was not great. Also all the smog crap impeaded horsepower. Funny that this car only has 20 more hp than my Honda Civic I drive today. Nice review.
I like both the Ford and Chevy designs
I saw another black one of these with a matching fiberglass camper shell.
I dubbed it the "sports hearse"!
My birthday was yesterday Kyle i am now 23 years old yep i am a 4th of July baby!
love the shake of the car when reving up love that torque! most newer cars don't do that
Congrats on the marriage Kyle! =)
Kyle you have some errors in this video. This car is absolutely not a Panther platform car, nor were any Gran Torinos. Panther's were "LTD Crown Victorias" (yes LTD's early on, but they looked like crown vics), and were much smaller than this car. This car is from the platform that Panthers replaced. Different engine options, and very few swappable parts.
If you ever write a book, you could entitle it "Without further adieu..."
LOL
And the sequel could be “Hi everyone, how’s it goin’?”
I'm so excited for you to do the M6 Gran coupe. It's my dream car and I can't wait for you to do a review on it.
When I was in a Fire academy, we went to a junk yard to practice using the jaws of life. We learned the difficulty of extricating people from old cars when we made short work of an 80's camaro then tried to destroy one of these. We eventually did but now I wish we hadn't. There's no chance of restoring that car.
Awesome pick up, i like the front, looks lite like Lincoln, fantastic sound, more power would be perfect
1:43
OH PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!
I'm Adam too and my birthday is today too, chers bro ! :D
awesome video i can tell this one is from the winter time too before you got the better anti wind camera mic.
Love my El Camino, but this Ranchero is pretty sweet. It sounds great!
Amazing man ...... congratulations and wishing for you all the best ..... A BIG FAN OF YOURS :)

**head explodes**
Dr Kyle ...... YOU ARE THE BEST AND THE BEAST :)
What a beauty!
Such a cool car. Keep the videos coming
Just bought my own 79 ranchero gt that i plan on restoring. can currently run but being in alaska it doesnt like the cold so for now im doing like work until snow melt
I would love to have this car, I freakin love the classic cars
A GT Brougham; the ultimate automotive paradox: could have only happened in 1970's North America. :o)
Wow great video and great car!
Nice shirt, Kyle! I have the same one! (white-ish one with black stripes and button up)
Congratulations Kyle! :D
The front bumper looks like it can be used as a bench
Hey Kyle your vids are awesome keep it going
Hope you the best!
Amazing video as usual
i wish they still made cars this good looking and outta metal instead of plastic except the vette
naterade21 Plastic is just cheaper to make and Corporations just want to save money like anyone else.
Good ole 5.8L 351W
That 5.8 makes the same horsepower as my 15 year old 4 cylinder Honda
+Steven Barnes kinda sad lol
+Steven Barnes Let's see that 4 cylinder Honda engine pull around a 6000 lb. truck on a daily basis for 300,000 miles and be able to tow 12,000 lbs. routinely. The 351W did/still does do that in millions of F-Series trucks. Advertised power isn't everything. Torque at low RPM's is what makes a good truck, or in this case, "TRAR"(Truck/Car) engine.
+Jim Garrison
Exactly! It pisses me off when people compare puny Honda and Toyota 4 cylinders to Ford and GM 8 cylinders... don't even try it. That's like comparing an ranger to a F250... they output two very different amounts of power and torque, and plus the Honda 4 cyl isn't built for speed or torque, it's made for gas mileage and efficiency.
+Steven Barnes If you like small Honda engines so much, then what are doing watching some guy reviewing a Ford truck and the engine in depth?? Isn't that a bit contradictory?
Outstanding review Kyle :)
I can definitely tell that particular kind of vehicle is very rare.
In addition, how have your exams been going for you?
- Michael Land
Holden and HSV are still strong with their utes!
recently got one of these through a trade, 79 gr8 model with the 351. how much is one worth in the conditions like the one in the video?
gt *
It was a funeral flower car in a small town so it's only got 28k on it. It was painted in 80 by the funeral home, it was originally burgundy but they had it painted white. It needs to be repainted. The interior is completely stock save the radio is missing (I believe they removed it and had a cb in it, but that's not there either)The engine and transmission are intact and running smooth. Some bushings in the front are needing preventative replacement but we'll do that as soon as we get the room in the shop to lift it. Rust is only a few thin veins starting to form along the rear window and along the sides where the screws for some old flower rack were. It was always parked under roof apparently so the bed has no rust. All the chrome trim pieces are present and accounted for.
Please, do me both the new Range Rover & the new Lexus LX 570. God bless u Kyle. Keep up the good work.
Gotta love Ford's crazy volt gauge.
