@@samschossig334 Same here! Always loved "old man cars" lol. They offer luxury and comfort you just can't get with "sporty" cars that are extremely uncomfortable. Plus, to me, "old man cars" are just absolutely beautiful!
I have one of these, I bought it in 1992 with 5000 miles. Mine is dark blue with more options. It now has 29,200 miles and I call it my "good car", and I just love it.
One day I would love to be able to find an original low mileage, big American car (or truck!) that was driven to church and the grocery store once a week. A few years ago I saw a 1978 Impala on a used car lot and I had to have a closer look. It had about 21,000 miles on it and had plastic covers on the seats and the carpeting. It was like it was time warped from a showroom in '78 to that used car lot. They wanted $8,000. It had to have been the cleanest, most perfectly preserved specimen on the planet, short of anything GM is storing in their basement. It was like a brand new car... light metallic green exterior, avocado interior, seats and carpet both :) A show winner for sure. Original tires, too... no dry rot!
Codey Van Ourkerk No, my locks work. I did have to replace the nylon things in the drivers door window gear, it took the better part of a day, a lot of things to take off the inside door cover, best of luck. I'm up to 29,900 mi..
+José Magalhães no, just a fan! the write police doesn't mean nothing in here... it is legal. So I have a police car, without being a cop. You can have italian police car in your country on couterpart...Peace!
I also have a LTD Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I live in Germany. You can see a demonstration video on my channel. Also have a 78 Caprice Classic. Love those old boxy american sedans
I'm 34 and I WOULD!!!! buy that, their sooooo comfy and ride like a dream, just enough power and we'll enough comfy, love these old cars, easy to work on,and just all around wonderful car
Great car! My stepfather had a '91 that was maroon. It looked like a giant brick! I took my road test to get my license in that car and passed with flying colors the very first try. The instructor actually told me he was very impressed that I was able to parallel park that car with no problem. It was actually the first time I had actually driven the car. I was taking lessons from school on a Nissan NX.
Two years ago I found a 98 Cadillac DeVille for 6k. Was an old man's church car, immaculately taken care of with only 51k miles. Most comfy car I've ever driven. It's enormy, insane trunk room and being 6'3" 225lbs, I can set the driver's seat where I like it, then go sir in the back behind my driver's seat. My knees don't touch the seat back. I grew up with this generation of big, American made cars and I miss them. Crown Vic, Caprice, olds, Lincoln, Cadillac, doesn't matter to me. I love em
what i loved about these cars besides the size . was that it made all of its available power and torque usable at levels that people would be driving at
man, i need to tell you something: If I lived in the USA (I live in Brazil) I would definitely think about having one, but now while I was watching the video, and you tuned in to a radio that played "man in the box - AIC" I was still more convinced buy a. Thank you so much for the video!
they were pretty shit, did'n last long. modern crown victorias have the same luxury, comfort, and feel offered. But also work like a rented mule, they last long and cost very little to maintain, they'r something that american car manufacturing should be proud of.
LionFreedom Gaming The only exception maybe a Lexus but those a jam packed with safety equipment. A honda civic? Yeah it will be shattered into a million pieces and the driver prays the airbags save him or her but usually dead lol.
I have this car but it's the rare two tone brown, dark brown vinyl, brown plush interior with leather driver's seat. Bought it 4 years ago. Still only 80.000 miles on it right now. Beautiful perfect car I love.
My first car was a 1989 LTD black on grey with about 200xxxkm. It was super easy to drive and was very smooth. It was maintained religiously by the previous owner but when I got the car it fell apart within 2 years. The frame on these rot out even if you oil spray them. I used to be able to take chunks out of my frame. I had power steering issues constantly, alternator, power window motors all failed around the same time, I destroyed the trans on it though but had it rebuilt. One day I came out it was -22 or so I cranked her over and I heard a lout pop. Cracked the block somewhere just saw coolant everywhere. I had the car towed to my new place and it sat there until one day the springs failed and it lowered itself to the ground like a low rider. I don't even know what happened to the car because I came out one day and she was gone. Probably stolen not even sure. Sometimes I feel like getting another mint shape one to take care of since I actually know how to fix most things on cars now.
I'm fainting watching this video!! This is the car of my dream, and I don't know if I will ever be so lucky to drive or even own one!!! :( I'd love to live in the USA just for this car!!!
Seeing a car like that still on the road is a refreshing sight. Now I'd like to get behind the wheel and experience it. A 1980s-1990s body on frame, rear wheel drive car is on my bucket list.
absolutely!!!, these are cars,I drove one for about a month,insane,sooo comfortable inside,rode like a cloud,just enough power,these aren't hot rods,their cruisers,love these old ones,so much style and taste,I'm 34 and I'd buy one
Yes, I would buy one for myself. I've been looking at the Crown Vic and the Merc Grand Marquis because they were the last true body on frame cars available from any manufacturer. The MGM lasted all the way until 2010 and the discontinuance of Mercury, so that is the one I would get. The Buick Roadmaster is a good one too, but they are getting a bit scarce and the newest ones are 20 years old. So, rear drive full size cars all the way!
good to see someone else remembers the ESS trim package. I painted the trim on this CV. at one time i had owned a '79 pinto wagon with a factory blacked out grill . i bought used trim pieces to do this. all can be changed back stock in an afternoon. the blue oval stands out much better. i remember how glad i was to see the factory position the oval in the center grill location . the 1979-1987 grill on the CV had the oval in the lower corner just like many other ford products of the period.
its always great to see that older cars preserved and cared for as nicely as this one still exist, unlike cars that are driven into the ground by their DOUCHEBAG abusive owners! It sounds great too; I like the rumbling sound of the V8 during the test drive at the 14 minute mark.
My father almost gotten a 1985 Lincoln Town Car in silver grey in the late 1980’s. He had it for a week. It kind of reminded me of the 1988 Ford Taurus that he had for driving back and forth. He had a 1982 Ford van but, it was traded on a 1989 Dodge Grand Caravan in silver grey. My mother ended up driving that mini van. Both of my parents shared their vehicles over the years. The mini van was great with my grandparents to ride in.
my grandfather had one of these things. When i was a kid i use to try and rip that leather handle off the door when I rode behind him in the backseat haha thanks for the memory refresher.
I'M MORE OF A GM, CAPRICE TYPE OF GUY BUT THIS IS THE MOST CLEANEST AND SHARPIEST 89 CROWN VIC I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME AND IT'S IN MY FAVORITE COLOR FOR ANY AUTOMOBILE, GRAY, GOT TO LOVE IT!!!!!!

@MrPronchik Very few if any cars had cup holders in 1990, American or not. Cup holders didn't come around until like 94 or 95 when they started to become common.
Yes but that wasn't the point. The car didn't need to have tons of horsepower, it was designed to be smooth and comfortable. They do have more torque than many modern cars do today. I own a 1991 LTD Crown Vic 5.0 and trust me, it is incredibly powerful. Not to mention the 5.0 is the best motor Ford ever built, and one of the best motors ever put into a car.
@FrontalTraction It was designed that way on purpose. The low horsepower means that the torque it makes is delivered smoothly and over a wide range of RPMs. And, since its making such little power, the engine components are under light strain and will last a very long time. Large, old american V8s that make very little power are known to last as many miles as you are willing to regularly change the oil.
Made back when gas was still cheap and as much as I recall this being my first car/first love, the engine was always having problems from bad alternator, bad radiator, transmission, brakes. It felt that for a car I literally got for free, I was putting more money into fixing it rather than making monthly payments.
@metalmaniac622 nope, they used regular chrome grilles on the police package until 1999, thats the first year they started blacking out the trim and grilles. The last owner just painted the grille on this one black.
Yes, the 302 Windsor and in fact most of the Windsor engines were Pushrod, or Overhead Valve engines. The new Coyote 5.0 on the other hand is a Double Overhead Camshaft engine.
The shifter changed in 90, despite the design changing slightly in 1988. I wonder if they did that when the Towncar was updated, because their shifters are the same.
This seriously was my dream car when I was a little kid. Yes, I was odd, but I still love these big cars to this day.
