I just changed my grips from some thick foam grips to more of a standard thickness gel grips, needless to say it felt so weird. Little changes like that can throw you off if you a beginner like me
Helpful video, thanks! I'll be putting these ProGrip 719s on my Ninja 1000 soon. I'm hoping I don't have to cut/shorten the throttle side as some guys have done here on YT. Also, are you convinced going with the alcohol versus an adhesive (like hairspray) is the way to go? Appreciate your advice...
Great detailed instructions. People talk about grip glue for the grips. I like your method of install, use alcohol and let it dry for a day before you ride. Glue is messy. Can't wait to install mine. By the way on the throttle side you always turn the grip forward while installing right?
I'm glad it helped you out! I always try to install the driver side facing down to rotate it forward into place at the end like you're saying. Happy riding!
stick an air hose under the grip when you blow air the grip will swell and pull right off need a nozzle on airhose that is pointed to get under the grip but it will take seconds when done right give it a try next time I know this is older vid but to anyone who just see's this doing a search as I did
I've heard some people say over time the hairspray breaks down and ends up making the grips break loose from the bar but I know a lot of people still use it. I used to use it on my dirt bikes a long time ago and I remember using grip wire and the spray and still had issues with the grips twisting on me.
Everyones bike always comes with rubber grips and they just have to cut it off. Mine came with aftermarket plastic grips and i can't just cut it off unless I use a dremel tool. Is there any other way I can do it WITHOUT cutting it off? It's not coming off.
Im just wondering. Using the alcohol, they slide on but the alcohol will dry even tho there is no air for it to evaporate? I did it and its a tight seal, wont the alcohol not evaporate and dry cuz the rubber is keeping it from evaporating?
You'd be surprised how much water will evaporate from other things that are "air tight." 24hrs is enough time to keep the grips from slipping and one day out in the sun is more than enough heat to dry them out. The alcohol definitely speeds up the process and eliminates the possibility of any residue being left over.
Awesome video thanks I had order new grips for my R6 and was trying to figure how to install them before they arrive that solve all my questions
Heck yeah glad I could help out!
Good looking install and installer. Thank you for the help.
Glad it helped!

Like it no messing around just cut them off your changing them anyway, great video man
That's right, time is money haha
Hi just to clarify with the rubbing alcohol there’s no need for grip glue right? Thanks for the video
Nope! Once the alcohol dries the grip is stuck solid. Glad it helped!
Thanks for the reply all the best
I heard you should Use hairspray if you don’t like glue because when it gets hot your grips are going to loosen up and spin
You shouldn't have to use glue at all. Hairspray will make the grips spin more because the residue will eventually break down with heat.
At our shop we use hair spray works very well

use a chain saw.

Could just hit it with a heat gun if you want to ride within the day
That might work!
Thanks bud, all the other vids talk about grip glue etc, where the hell I'm gonna get that🥴
Glad it helped!
thanks for the informative video
No problem! Thanks for watching!
WD40🤦🏼♂️😂 otherwise great video
WD40 for what?
@Bakers DIY Lifestyle in the video.. says wd40 to remove old grips.. not a good idea.
I honestly haven't watched the video in a long time but I'm pretty sure I agree that it's stupid and just cut em off
If you have to be shown how to change bar grips, you should not be allowed within a mile of a toolbox
You mad bro?
Where's your how to vids?
