I checked a brazilian samba drummer masterclass where he explains that independent dynamics between each of the "instruments" (hands and feet on a drumkit) are very important for brazilian stuff, to the point where it is almost objectivelly wrong to play those rhythms without taking these dynamics into account. You can see Eloy clearly does this when he plays.
Hes also rather fit and works out clearly, if you put on enough muscle, hitting hard comes more natural, allowing u to be more dynamic too, as u wont have to try too hard to also hit hard.

@@MikJames-d1g I understand your point, but you seem to have misunderstood mine. I choose my words carefully. Note that I did not say "best", but instead I said "most impressive". As in, it's the 3-minute drum part that impressed me and moved me the most, probably ever. So it's a pretty personal remark (albeit an informed one, as I've watched countless drumming performances before). The last part of my comment still stands, though: Eloy composed this piece himself, and he plays it with a combination of technique, feeling and ferocity that's nearly impossible to match. If you have other examples of similar performances that are completely original, I'd be happy to watch and have myself proven wrong =)
Casagrande's performance of Resolution was mystical. I mean, you cannot express it otherwise. It's the kind of elevation you feel when entering a church you hear sacred music.
He's not only an amazing musician, but is also very humble. I love this guy ❤
Concordo totalmente!
He is simply the most complete drummer in the world, without a doubt. Extraordinary
Props to the interviewer for knowing his stuff! It's pretty clear he did a thourough research into Eloy's path as a musician. Vai Brazil!
Eloy is so versatile he could manage to play with Animals as Leaders, Foo Fighters, Vulfpeck, Slipknot and Sepultura with absolute ease.
Simultaneously!
Humble, he's a complete drummer. The best.
Simply outsized, Eloy is insane! Few drummers on the face of the earth come close to this level of precision, power, speed, control and perfection. This guy is absurd. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I've never cried listening to a drummer? I guess there's a first time for everything. Amazidade Amigo!!!
My mass respect for Eloy can't be put into words. What a humble amazing legend! Possibly the ,best drummer in the world! And he's a great person it seems. My fave
That first song is Fractured, the latest single from Casagrande & Hanysz! Didn't realize we already heard it 9 months before its official release 🤭
"Fracture"
Ohhh. My. Effing. Mind.
Resolution performance is just like from another world. The feel, precision, 👻 notes, clarity, creativity, power. Eloy is a complete package. Whoooooo! 🤘🤯
He is simply the most complete drummer in the world, without a doubt. Extraordinary
I've watched that performance like 50 times now. It's one of my all time favorite drum performances ever. Simply phenomenal. I really like the song too.
My favorite drummer indeed! A totally humble monster and master, thanks for representing Southamerica 💪🙌. Saludos desde Colombia!
What a monster of a drummer! I'm just speechless at how amazingly talented; the stamina, verstile, dynamic although hitting the drums hard and accentuating a lot, creative and mostly genuine and loyal to his cultural background. He has been one of my favourire drummers of all time since I knew him couple of years ago. Thank you Dtumeo for inviting this humble artist and Thank you Eloy for entertaining us!
I have an old dvd of when he was about 13 playing at the modern drummer festival as an up and comer he was fantastic then and i thought man when this kid actually grows up what the heck is he gonna be like........Well here you go just mind blowing!
By far one of the very best drummers/sessions on Drumeo. Eloy is such a pro! His power, precision, groove and dynamics are phenomenal! Please bring him on more often!
29:04 ohhh boy, that solo is AMAZING!!!!
This fuckin guy is ridiculous. Killer job Eloy. Your style is so unique. You're my favorite current drummer and probably of all time to be honest. I love the stuff with Sepultura and your other projects are incredible as well. Keep it up man! You inspire all of us!!
I love how he is anticipating/mimicking beats with his face. Adds another dimension :-)
26:08 - 26:11 might be the craziest fill I've ever heard
If this guy and Matt Garstka collaborated the world couldn't handle the amount of creativity
Exactly.
They did tour together for a while
this solo was something!
that was amazing!!!
I'm less than 2mins into this video and its already blown my mind
That smiling cameraman in the background at 28:47 having the time of his life seeing Eloy play 😆
This guy is just incredible. Jaw dropping skills and a humble and cool speech.
Means to an End is unbelievable piece of drumming. Nothing else in metal is this inspired and unique. Eloy nails it as if it was nothing.
GENIO DO CARRALHOO
Word! What a masterpiece! U guys should check this out if not yet the case...
Strength, speed, pace and accuracy. The greatest metal drummer of today. Simply the guy plays any rhythm and at any speed. It's a monster
Eloy - a true master: extraordinary skills but still so humble. Respect!
It's another level of drummer. Innovative, unique. From there, a wave of new drummers will be created, influenced by this new context, by this new rhythmic vanguard.
The whole video and performance is awesome but that groove at 38:54 makes me dance in my chair. Only another crazy Brazilian drummer like Eloy could replace Igor Cavalera so well I'm glad Sepultura knew that. They were one of my favorite bands as a teenager, the album Chaos AD was absolutely insane at the time it came out I went nuts in the school. I'm going to listen more work from this guy now. Big hugs from Portugal!
Am blown away
My mind went to the space
Eloy thank you so much for your existence and for all this Brazilian rhythms that you putting here n there
The energy, the drumming and all this groove and technique that he has it’s fantastic man
Wow
Can’t express correctly my feelings for what I saw and heard in this video because am so blown away that it gonna took me lot of time to understand what I watched
Drumeo thank you so much for everything you do to the drum community and the motivation 🤘🏽🤘🏽🥁🥁
It means a lot. Thank you so much. All the best to you.
@@eloycasagrandee 🙏🏽🤘🏽🥁
He is simply the most complete drummer in the world, without a doubt. Extraordinary
He's incredible and it's more incredible that he doesn't use any triggers on the kit, and this is the thing that i love the most. Amazing
Agora sim.
❤️
Eloy is brazilian metal's pride!! Is awesome to see the recognition and admiration he's receiving, he deserve it all, and even more!
Eloy is one of the most versatile drummer ever!
It brings tears of joy to my eyes, as a brazilian, hearing this big idol of mine bringing the brazilian music to the spotlight! Thank you Eloy and thank you Drumeo! Thats AMAZING ❤❤❤
toma vergonha nessa cara rapaz..
Less man, much less 😂
I was not ready for that intro song. I don't know what I was expecting but the complexity and dynamics totally caught me off guard. Now I rewatch over and over. Even making my friends watch it! Haha
I do the same thing, I force my non drummer friends to watch this and anyone who loves music should be able to enjoy Eloy. Truly amazing man.
The simple fact is that neither Joey nor Jay could have ever pulled off anything close to this level of talent, and i hope Slipknot puts it to use
The people who put #1 Joey #2 Eloy are so damn clueless
@@ramironetto2797 trying to rank them in the first place is clueless, can't we just enjoy these amazing drummers equally, why must we always compare, so annoying
@@ramironetto2797i both agree and disagree. Joey helped make Slipknot what they are today so for that he is a legend. Jay was always mediocre in my opinion and not the right fit for SK but got the gig because of his Dad I always felt, could be wrong but that's how it seemed. Eloy is a powerhouse and has some insane chops, poly rythm ability and groove that should make for some awesome new music.
Don't even try to compare all the drummers, they're have they own legacy. So respect it
@@AdamTrautmanBowling I remember KRIMH was the popular choice to replace Jordison a decade ago but to everyone's surprise Jay got the gig.
ELOY ES MI SALVADOR. Watching this from Torreón, México
I remember back in time watching his video when he was a kid playing on festivals. Look at him now, he's a beast🤘
Seen him live last year and he’s beyond belief. The power is inhuman. He’s the greatest drummer in the world and for me, the greatest metal drummer of all time. He’s an animal.
Blown away. This guy is an absolute MONSTER
I learned some very valuable drumming and psychological lessons from Eloy in this video
I like how humble and respectful he is for his influences.
This guy is unbelievable. He is actually too good for slipknot. How’s it even possible to be noticeably better than Jordison and Weinberg combined?!
Actually i kinda agree with u, even if im a br guy, but joe e fully fast, weinberg pure technical but eloy, no way, complete
He is better in every aspect, technical, creative, etc. But Joey wrote all those songs and has influenced Eloy. He walked so Eloy could fly. It's more a matter of respect than anything else.
This guy seems great, possibly better technically speaking. But, Joey is still my favorite drummer of all time, personally. RIP.
@@marcelrenoit’s like you listen but you don’t hear what the man says: his traditional music was with him from the very beginning. And then he started to look into Black Sabbath. And then he named at least dozen of artists he admired. Where’s that primitive rhythms of slip knot that presumably somehow “lead him”? 🤔
So goood! Brazilian music makes people feel like dancing! Super good vibe! Maracatu Chico Science
Maracatu veio antes do science fi rs
Incredible drummer! Once I sit in the first line chair in his workshop… I feel the sound and air waves in my body. Was a crazy experience saw him playing so near. Powerful!
One of the best drummers ever.
He is exceptional at Brazilian rhythms and incorporating them in his heavy metal playing. He says he is not the best at it, but to me, this is the area where he shines and shows his true potential. I wished there was such a video with him for so long and now we got it.
I don’t play drums but Eloy is so inspiring. Absolutely love the rhythms, the passion and his whole attitude.
Sepultura is amazing also. His drumming on Manipulation of Tragedy is absolutely phenomenal
Man, I get emotional seeing a simple guy who really appreciates music from its roots and beautifully transforms it into something so heavy and complex. Congratulations Eloy, certainly the pride of being brazilian and that goes in the guts!
Resoluton is a drumming masterpiece!, Eloy is from another world.
27:30 - 30:30
Saw him a couple weeks ago on the sepultura kreator tour and he’s easily the best drummer I’ve ever seen in play in person
Continue assim, bicho! Muito orgulho.
One of the most creative and powerfull Metal drummer of all time. The man who saved Sepultura. Fantastic musician. Already a legend.
Goddamn....even by the celestial standards of drumeo masterclasses...that was remarkable. 👏 👏 👏
Eloy is amazing. I remember seeing him live with andre matos when I was 15yo and him was 16 i think. I couldn't believe how good he was.
I love it when drummers have a unique set layout that is not standard, different tom or ride or hihat placement. It really shows the artistry that is percussion, that percussion is not just a boring and fixed instrument.
I love this guy. Such an amazing drummer
Im sure drumeo is about to see an uptick in eloy videos over the next couple of weeks, so to the newcomers, enjoy the unmatched drumming abilities of eloy...
Eloy, Brazil is really proud of you! You are definitely one of the most talented musical souls we have!
