Eloy came up with that intro/or most of the drum parts(not sure) and they wrote the song over it. I think this was one of the first of Eloy's compositions to make it into a Sepultura album.
He is an athlete but he’s got a great touch and groove too. Just the full package drummer. You just wonder if he can maintain this playing when he gets older
Dallas a few years ago with Sepultura they had to stop the show at least twice to replace a snare and cymbal. Cymbal looked like someone ran over it with a semi truck. Ruthless.
He’s a different level. Not that he’s the best in the world or whatever, it’s the combination that he brings, it’s very unique in ways, it’s inspiring just to watch him play a song without music its like its own unique drum solo.
What do you mean you can’t believe the power he has? can you not see the size of his arms😂 I remember watching him when he was 13 years old and a drumming contest, and they were all saying at that contest that he would be the worlds greatest drummer one day soon it’s crazy to see him then and see him now! Him and Captain El will be the best drummers in the world for a long time! They need each other to go to the top and stay there!
don't miss out on Bruno Valverde, and Greyson Nekrutman, though. THey both are REALLY good and have more time to get better on the drums. (they're younger).
It’s almost until Sepultura last album they were kinda hiding his ability from me at least. That man is a machine and perfect for slipknot…. Now if they would only remove the other percussionists from the band to let this man solely shine. Sorry clown, and others, play a real instrument.
these guys reached a point where it doesn't make sense to compare them... it's like they got to God Mode on the drums, they keep getting better, but not better than eachother per se...
I personally think that Bobby Jarzombek could play this just as clean and every bit as powerful. Check him out. Enough of Eloy & Dr El for a while. PS. We all hear a mixed version, so how hard is he really hitting them ?..Take Care
Just check Sepultura live fancams and you'll see he hits very hard. As for Bobby, I'd love to see him playing in a thrash metal band like Sepultura, but Eloy was the better fit here as he knew how to apply the Brazilian rhythms to Metal - something Igor Cavalera started, of course.

Nah he was showing his chops since his joining. Mediator and Machine Messiah are almost as good as Quadra.

Austin Archey uses Heel-toe technique with triggers so no. Matt Garstka is the Best Drummer in the world in this generation.
Amizing player and certainly capable by far. However I personally dont like him as a fit in Slipknot.
Eloy is awesome, but he needs to leave some parts simple so people can bang their heads around it, there's no need to add fills to everything.
