      @@omp365 I'm saying let Camille Paglia respond to this video before you condemn her. Or is no one going to bother with that? With an extremely sensitive issue such as this, who the hell is going to discuss it? Middle aged women? They are not the prime suspects. The prime suspects are men. And men are scared of the fucking word. I don't blame them. That's one reason why we have pedophile hunters. Now they can't be at all suspect now can they? That's why I would rather listen to someone who has a vast knowledge and wants to put it out there to educate instead of being the typical dipshit who just accepts the bullshit that we have in every medium. No one gives a fuck about kids anyway. Adults can't even get their own lives in order. Me included. Fuck that snippet video and the narrator. They don't like Camille anyway. Now they have found something and boom. Let's condemn the bitch. Until she releases a book called how to be nonce for dummies, I'll keep checking her out.

      She used to use "alright" in the same way many years ago. I've noticed that she doesn't use it when she's speaking (as in narrating / presenting) but as an exclamation mark after she's made a point that she wants someone to take on board.
      I presume it comes from her lecturing.

      What was her point? I mean the question was about her thoughts on Jordan Peterson, and she basically went on a rant about how women in France and Mexico are more respected because of their monikers... Okay I see her point but that has nothing to do with Jordan Peterson, and his concerns with forcing people to use new pronouns.

    • @randomwindowsstuffz
      @randomwindowsstuffz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Her rant about French and Spanish was to make her position on linguistics clear. She uses French and Spanish to show her support of incorporation of words into languages for more cultured exchange of ideas. But although incorporation of new words is progress, forcing them onto people by law is regressive. So by talking about French and Spanish, we see that her problem is not with making new words, but with imposing those words on everyday language. Instead, new words should be adopted by choice of individuals, which is why the most brilliant of English literary figures which she mentioned have contributed to the language. Not because those people forced their ideas upon others, but because they were powerful enough for people to willingly adopt them. That's the idea behind language arts anyway

    I've heard Camille speak in person, and it's an experience I recommend. She machine-guns ideas faster than you can keep up, dropping half constructed but very interesting notions and moving on to the next thing in a single breath. If there's any drawback to that approach it's that her mouth can get in front of her brain at times... Def worth the listen though.
    And she'll definitely find points of agreement with Peterson, since she could find points of agreement with William F. Buckley and Angela Davis! She'll find points of disagreement too, which will be the more interesting phenom by far, to those with a brain...

    • @Ignasimp
      @Ignasimp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@childeharoldskillgrimage2652 because what Plato said is different to what Jung said, or at least I see it slightly different. For Plato the ideas were what was real, the world we sense is just a projection of those ideas in an imperfect manner. But what I understand from Jung is that tendencies or patterns in real life are as real if not more than the physical manifestation of it. The physical world is real. But fenomena is real as a change of something, not as a physical object. So, a succession of events that repete itself in different physical places and times is more real that a specific place and time where that succession of events occurred. The physicalllity is still equally real, but the fenomena of it is what isn't.
      I'm still trying to find a way to explain this, since this is the first time that I tried to explain this.

    • @childeharoldskillgrimage2652
      @childeharoldskillgrimage2652 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ignasimp I understand what you're saying, but I think you haven't totally followed through on either line of reasoning. If Platonic forms "exist" in the way he/Socrates described them, they do so at a level wherein the distinction between an 'object' and a 'process' doesn't exist. Namely, infinitude/timelessness. So the patterns of human behavior and belief, as noted by Jung despite manifold variations therein, would just be an extension of Platonic forms.

      She is an Aries born in the Year of the Fire Pig/Boar. Pigs are the domesticated version; angry wild boars are famous for charging and gorging with their tusks. And of course, Aries is ruled by the planet Mars, the god of war.

    I don't know why people worship Peterson. He is so conventional. Paglia (pronounced pay-LEE-a) is so much more original.

      What is the problem with being conventional? If at least some of the most conventional ideas in our culture weren't in fact great, you and I probably wouldn't be around, and, if at all, probably not enjoying such quality of life as the one it has granted us. Also, amid so many people who, like you, love novelty, perhaps Peterson's message is made all the more valuable, so that we may not forget what is most important by attempting to embrace all the shiny, original and untested ideas, which can become quite dangerous when taken too seriously.

      I agree with your sentiment, but don't you think being "conventional" in thought like Peterson is now more eccentric and controversial a position than being otherwise? I mean, just look at the backlash the man is getting.

    "What about music? It's like everyone loves it or almost everyone...In most cultures music plays a very central role in identity formation..." Why does islamic ideology deny muslims the joy of music?

    What a bunch of bull. "You're favourite music will be the music you've listened to between the age of 16 and 20" Where does he get this crap from? Like Paglia tho...
