I worked at Tesla starting in July of 2017 as an Operations Analyst out of the Bethlehem, PA distribution center facility and left as a Program Manager based out of Austin, TX as of September 2021. I spent most of my time in the distribution and supply chain organizations.
Before Tesla, I was a Director of Business Intelligence and Pricing at the largest Pet Food & Supply distributor in the US, Phillips Pet Food & Supplies based out of Easton, PA. My wife and I also owned a small business in Bethlehem, PA between 2016 and 2019.
I have been a shareholder of Tesla since 2012 and currently own Tesla stock. Nothing I say constitutes as investment or financial advice.

As a former rideshert driver, I can confirm 95%+ of my rides were 2 or fewer people.
I'm disabled so having a fully self driving car would absolutely change my life in so many ways.
Same. 8/8 can't come quick enough!
Transportation independence for the disabled, elderly, and young will be transformative.
Yeah don't hold your breath Musk told us in 2019 that he'd have 1 million Robotaxis on the road by 2020. He has history on this, the cybertruck was promised in 2021 and a $25,000 car for 2022. The cybertruck was late and its future looking bleak and the affordable car is a long way off if it's going to happen at all.
Before the pandemic, I traveled 45 weeks a year for 20 years -- sometimes flying, sometimes driving. I don't even care about the Cybercab earning a paycheck when I'm not using it. I just want my own private cab to drop me off and pick me up at client offices, restaurants, hotels, train stations, and airports.
I'm disabled and work online it would absolutely change my life if we had this.
You are not going to get our personal Teslcab t with the existing FSD software with isn't Full Self Driving and hardware. Perhaps, One day, One year, One Decade. Tesla Vision is quite susceptible to weather, and I suspect you'll see a robocab with something other than "Tesla Vision" FSD still isn't on the Cyberthud,
Ok, so you just want you own car with real FSD, not the fake one from Tesla.
@ConstellationMushrooms That would be really nice for you but that is more than 5 years away maybe more
@@ConstellationMushrooms You just opened my eyes. Imagine if a Model X had front and back seats removed on one side and a wheelchair lift installed (❁◡❁)
That’s the front of the cyber cab 💯
Yuppp
Couldn’t be the back maybe it’s pretty boxy for the front doesn’t seem very aerodynamic
@@zandercerlong7238 it needs to be more pointy - Gen. Aladeen
@@zandercerlong7238 it’s more less aerodynamic if that’s the back end. You need some kind of slope for a rear diffuser. Even a Corolla’s rear bumper sweeps upward.
💯
Genius! Tesla takes the 1-2 passenger riders. We as Tesla owners take the 3/4 riders with existing fleet. 🇺🇸💪✌️
Great idea
Ok that makes sense
Need to solve the problem of a rider grabbing the steering wheel or otherwise interfering with the vehicle operation. There's a mechanical connection between steering wheel and front tires in the existing fleet.
@bobwallace9753 Tesla's use steer-by-wire. They can electronically disconnect the steering wheel and it doesn't do anything when not in use.
@@bobwallace9753 good point. Software could detect the input on the steering wheel and intervene somehow
Two additional items:
1) the end view also showed a sharp, angular side panel seen only in Cybertruck, and
2) just before the seat view, there was a frame that said, "Can you really balance your checkbook?" indicating expansion of the X apps -- 'One app to rule them all'.
“One app to rule them all” is begging for FTC intervention 😂 can’t happen in the states
It’s a good day for Tesla 🥲
Thanks for interpreting the ''breadcrums''.Can't wait for August 8th.
The 1-2 passenger vehicles are for daily driving to work/supermarket/... , the 5 passenger vehicles are for families/long trips.
Need more than 2 seats? Order two 👍
Or request a model 3 or Y. I'm sure Tesla is expecting a lot of current tesla owners to put their vehicles to work
And if your partner is disabled? Tow the wheelchair?
smh
App gonna work with all tesla cars, should not be an issue 😊
😂
@@rogerstarkey5390So since there is no robotaxi solution right now and disabled people couldn’t get around we should all wait.
Try harder
If Elon Musk is thinking so far ahead of time that he introduced the Cybertruck to accustom people to sharp angles to prepare them for the Cybercab - is this 4D chess?
Why are you stating the obvious? It is well known, the 48V architecture, the steer by wire, all of these are the preparation for the Cybercab.
It wont be made of same stainless steel. It will be same as Model 3 type build with simpler lines on the body.
@@1flash3571 yeah probably not simply because you can make it more aerodynamic since stamped pieces can have more curvature and smoother lines. For cost savings, not having to have a paint shop I’m sure they wish they could do stainless for cyber cab aerodynamics, and the most range possible with the most efficiency possible at the end Product is probably more important.
The Cybertruck is - just as the Model 2 - only one draw in his 4D Chess play. And we all are still stuck on his first master plan. Or do you know any other man, woman, sheman or company who has built a Model S equivalent?
@@1flash3571 Yes, and it will have a 12V lead acid battery, stalks for windscreen wipers and is made of cheap stamed steel.
Don’t forget the new model 3 camera pics without mirrors line up exactly with the structure of the cardboard mockup for the robotaxi.
We (future Robotaxi fleet owners) have an opportunity to change human behavior for the better, with one simple rule - "When you vandalize the car (i.e. slash the interior, write graffiti, damage the screen, key or kick the exterior) YOU SHALL BE BANNED FOR LIFE." For the network to maintain easy, fun, affordable, safe & reliable cybercabs we must never compromise on justice. Choosing bad behavior will result in spending more money (in a Yellow cab) or more time (public transit). FAFO!
Jail AND restitution would be nice.
Curious about trunk size for luggage for airport or shopping bags for errands.
This is some Tesla Daily level shizz, Farzad! Great sleuthing and vid!
In the black and white photo of the two seater, it seemed to have only three wheels like an Aptera.
I agree. I think this is huge !!! Another innovation on the order of steer-by-wire, and transition to 48V. Look at the new view of the rear. It has the single bump in the middle, also pointing to one wheel in the rear.
Also imagine the space savings for our European friends that have to navigate narrow streets.
Wondering also of it will be a 3 wheeler.
Fwiw, this will exempt it from us auto safety and emissions regulations, fwiw. It will doubtless be safer than reg requirements for cars, and emissions are n/a, but maybe it will make it exempt too from other regs i am not aware of. In the US, any 3 wheel vehicle is considered a “motorcycle” and regulated as such
@@johnanon658agreed. But it also opens the vehicle up to helmet laws per state too.
Quick Google search turned up article from HowStuffWorks website titled "How Three-Wheel Car Work" with good information.
Advantages:
1. Less parts.
a. One less wheel.
b. Steering uses only the rear wheel. Rack and pinion may not be needed.
2. It's function as cybercab means speed, agility, and instability are not so much issues. Also it only needs limited cargo. So drawbacks of 3-wheeled car are obviated.
3. Side camera have increased view of the back if back is narrower than front--thus the change in camera placement.
With such ample leg room and looking at the seat shape on the rendering, I wouldn’t be surprised if the seats can slide down to become a bed. Or something like a very cozy armchair.
I think, "Arm Holder", was the highlight of this video :)
If it's a two-seater I hope they make it so the front seat can slide all the way forward and lay the back all the way down into the other seat to just make one really big seat to lay down in for longer trips...
It would just require that the headrest would be retractable...
@@AquarianSoulTimeTraveler ...............
Think about the two-seater as the first robotaxi product. Go for the largest market which is 1-2 riders in urban, short distance trips. Later on we should see other options such as vehicles designed for long trips and larger occupancy.
@@bobwallace9753 able to fill the rest of the market up to four or more occupants... steer my wire means they will be able to disable the steering function once the Tesla taxi is active... I'm just saying it would make sense because if they're designing it for a pod then that's meant for a couple and if the couples together they're probably wanting to do couples stuff which is BJ's... that means the headrest should retract inwards and the front seat should slide forward and lay back all the way down to flat... if nobody is driving why not do human stuff?
@@AquarianSoulTimeTraveler
Tesla models S, X, 3, and Y do not have steering by wire. There is a mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and front tires.
Perhaps your desire for a humpmobile will come with a later product.
I do think more than 2 seats will be required down the line, especially if we talk about people replacing their personal car ownership with using Robotaxi's at some point in the future. Need to accomdate families in a single taxi ideally.
I’m sure that robotaxis will come in different sizes - 2, 4 and 6 at least. It would be nice if they offered ride sharing option to reduce costs.
Thanks for this man !, Completely missed this while watching the video, And I appreciate your Content ❤
NV93 might mean New Vehicle 9 version 3.
Thanks for the analysis bro and for ALL your great work. Appreciate you!
Love how you do these in depth deep dives. Very thorough and illuminating! Use of the picture captures to make your analysis is well thought out! Bravo!
They will likely need Robotaxi options with more than 2 seats for families with children. This is particularly true for non-Western markets, e.g., South America, Africa, Middle East, India, South East Asia, Polynesia, Melanesia,, and much of the Middle East.
Tesla Model 3/Y with no steering wheel. Will be more expensive a trip.
kids and familes? This is obsolete now, who is having them?
Great breakdown! Thanks.
Great finds.
My thoughts is that Tesla will initially offer the robotaxi with a supervised driver in existing model 3’s. This will enable them to enter the marketplace with thier app and network to get people used to using it similar to Uber. The supervised driver will supervise FSD allowing Tesla to collect data. When FSD is level 4-5 they will mass produce a new model on existing assembly lines. What do you think?
Awsome analysis.
Thanks for drilling down into the details, Farzad.
Good update
If you are a longtime investor, you are changing our world. Go the revolution.
Troll
I thought this shit was coming out 2017 💀
Picture at 00:43 looks more like the front and making a 2-seater makes much more sense for a robottaxi. Why build four doors and four seats when >90% of trips are 1-person?!
First principles...
So exciting, thanks Farzad
It looks like a 3-wheeler.
Yes it does. Funny how no one talks about this. “The best part is no part”
Looks like it has four wheels - The rear wheels are more recessed into the body with fairing covers, like the Gen 1 Honda insight, or the original Citroen DS.
That would make it a motorcycle in most of the US. That has some benefits regarding license and registration. But would additionally require helmets in some states.
I bet it's 4 wheel
I hope it has four wheels. Tesla has stated safety is their number one priority and three-wheelers aren’t safe in crashes.
I wanna see Cyber truck implemented as the Tesla Vehicle Delivery for Astronauts to The Space X launch pads.
I also wanna see Cyber Truck Lunar Mobile
I think Tesla will pull a Rivian move and not only reveal the cyber cab (2 seater) but also, a multi passenger cyber minivan/minibus with at least 9-11 passengers. Think airport transport van or a Sprinter type vehicle.
Thank you Farzad.
FARZAD!! Great breaking information!! Elon will surprise us for the next 10 years!! He is the "VISIONARY" of our lifetime!! He will make his followers rich beyond belief!! I cannot wait as I "drank" the KOOLAID 6 years ago!! Greetings from the beautiful shores of Lake Huron!! Giddy up!! ALL THE BEST TO YOU AND PW!!
This is mind blowing. Imagine robotaxi working around the clock in a big airport. They will need thousands of cybercars, this will be a money-making machine like no other.
Millions
25,000 a piece, 1 million of these costs $25 billion. If they each make on average $10 a day, $3,560 a year. $3.5 billion a year for $25 billion.
So if one of these things can make $10 a day net profit, thats a 14% return on their investment.
Maybe a better way to look at it is $1 an hour net profit, maybe 12 to 16 hour uptime.
Massively profitable, 2 doors, i seat, 48V, SBW, no steering wheel, no pedals, modular build with structural battery pack with seats installed on top, front and rear castings, stamped body, painted seperately and just put on the castings....
This is the end game for legacy auto
Umm, well, the taxi/uber etc economy is really not that large…. I mean, how many dollars do i soend a yr on ubers, subways etc?
@@johnanon658 it is. Because it will change the way we travel
Thank you 😊
Farzad, that first pic I think is the output for an HVAC system, in the background I think is a persons head, so it is not at ground level. I think it is sitting on top of a table. I have been wanting Tesla to come out with HVAC even before CT or other vehicle products !! Thanks for sharing your thoughts !!
definitely possible this is not the outside of a car
Thank you !🚗👍
For those who are unaware, chances are the robotaxi won't be available for purchase. Tesla will just use it to provide a service, just like Uber.
the summon app, is for your own car most likely or? love your content
So is that high floor in the luggage area for battery storage since the floor space is so short?
They're putting the cart before the horse (pun intended) with this concept robotaxi. They need to get Level 4/5 autonomous approved by regulators.
lol, no.
They will slap a wheel and peddles on it and sell/lease them first. This way, they can get the consumer to pay for the vehicles. They will be able to gather data for training the AI from the early fleet and only once things are solid and safety metrics are established will they target lawmakers. When they do it will be impossible for the lawmakers to say no IMO.
Great job farzad.
wow this is an exciting video!
The Model 3 Y and Cybertruck who do go onto the RoboTaxi service can handle 3 or more people. Those car buyer were told they could rent out their cars to the service too.
It looks like the Cyber cab we'll have more visual complexity than the cybertruck which to some will make it look more appealing and less polarizing
Oh my gosh! This is so MASSIVE...
It is almost seems like there is SHOCKING, AMAZING, and HUGE news coming out of Tesla every single day of every single year of the last decade. That truly is ASTOUNDING how it is possible.
that is the rear of the cybercab, which Elon has said in the past will look "Cyberesque." Black square is the bumper, bottom black portion is the rear diffuser to create low pressure zone for the air coming out from under the car to reduce drag and help with downforce without creating drag.
You can also see the same image of the robotaxi on the screen between Hanz and the other engineer's head in the image where they are looking at the seats
I’m sure you’ll be able to stream your own music through the Robo Taxi, which will be super cool… so when you get in, you’ll have your own environment, probably lighting to0?
Is this a 3 wheeler?
Cheers Farzad
The reason some of the settings are missing right after summon, is that more options become available to you once yoi get in the robotaxi. Why'd you be able to set the volume when you aren't inside?
About the 2 seater comment... Musk said that he will allow current owners to add themselves to the network and I imagine they will do the additional passenger rides. They will have Y's and S's etc...
For the RoboTaxi image you were referring to, it looks like the front splitter of the 2 seater.
I wonder about long trips; 100 to 200 miles? Looks like a luggage area behind the seats? Awesome!
You win the Easter Egg of the Year award Farzad. New callsign: Hawkeye. Peace out brother.
Makes sense that robotaxi is small (energy efficient) because Musk has said that electricity will be a limiting factor in the future. Also the cars structure could be a single casting which would grease production rate.
You’re 100% spot on! Thanks!! Not sure, but that side mirrorless Model 3 test mule had mirrors set up that would fit the Robotaxi. The cameras mounted in the rear windows would be in the right spot for a B pillar on a 2-seater vehicle. Right?
I have always thought having many two person , cheap efficient vehicles is the answer to robo taxis . You don’t need huge acceleration or massive top speed , so you can make something ultra efficient and perfect for the job in hand.
This will drive costs right down and help the goal of fares cheaper than a bus.
Having many vehicles will bring waiting times down to very little.
It is a genius idea ,I can’t wait.
I'm getting more and more comfortable with the idea of a two-seater version, since it's just a Robotaxi and for more than 2 people, or if you need more space for something, they also have Model 3 and Y for that in the fleet :)
(I have long suspected that Robotaxi and the compact car have the same dimensions because it could be built in a larger volume, which I no longer believe)
There is no compact car as far as we can tell.
Looking forward to johhny cab!
Great info buddy, do you think a coin like Fourprime token could move in a similar direction to Aero?
That image of the app may be part of the X app that does everything.
Whatever it will be, I am so excited!
CyberCab - Definitely Stainless Steel skin - for so many obvious reasons.
Cargo space for groceries, luggage for airport and school kit room.
Large vents in dash and seat slits for heating, cooling and post ride BLAST for cleaning into a seperate bag for emptying later.
AND a momentary UV lighting system for sanitizing the cab between riders.
Farzad, compare the model 3 robo taxi test mule passenger door camera shape, to the space behind the driver's head on the robotaxi. Similar correct?
This is great
Just wondering how they resolve the autonomous charging. As far as i know the Supercharchers are not fited with an inductive floor installation..
Superchargers will have Optimus attendants for charging, cleaning and security. Public restrooms actually are nice if cleaned every few hours. Anyone defiling a Tesla restroom could not avoid the detection and identification by Optimus. Optimus would know you are a tesla owner as your app would be required to open the restroom.
0:15 I believe that's the front; bumper and splitter.
Thanks Farzad, what do you think the chances are the cyber taxi will be stainless? It could help very much with branding as well as maintenance (no paint)
My 2018 Model 3 has rear seats for which heating was enabled via software a couple years ago.
Looks to me that the body could be SMC-glass. A link to the cybertrucks bed of SMC-CF. This is potentially something that could be solarized also that might give some usable range. Take a look at Aptera [the body is mostly SMC, white is glass, black is carbon fiber]. The glass is low impact resistant, an evolution from what Saturn bodies had, and easily repaired if cracked. High impact and your into aluminum and/or carbon. You can ask Sandy M why he thinks it is the future of mobility. All of your reckoning on average number of passengers is spot on.
These cars will have wings in 20 years
FSD doesn't even work in parking lots. How is it supposed to be ready for robo taxi?
Is that a single rear wheel ?
OOOOOO! ROBOTAXI HUH? WOWZAHS! SQUARE IT UP! SO VERY COOL. I AM BLESSED TO BE ABLE TO FOLLOW THIS!
This is already gonna change the world as we know it, then there'll be Optimus. Then I'll feel ready for Mars.
Look at the still at 4 secs, the B post could be supporting the bench seat. I wonder if the B post is part of the large rear casting running behind the seat.
Ohh man. Im getting crazy excited!
If you get that excited in a CyberCAB you'll get billed for the cleanup 😉
also why is there a model y covered like they covered the m3+ 👀
that would be cool AF 🤩💪🏻
Standard Shopping Center is in Palo Alto, near Stanford University :). So yeah, in California.
Don’t forget the cup holders in the cybercab !
Petition to rename "armrest" to "armholder" 😉
Cardboard mockup is 4 wheeler. The spot behind the seat is a square box, not tapered
And?
Im thinking this could be the model 2 too and robotaxi.
very good
That picture looks like the front corner.
What is that slope in the picture of the rear or front of the new two seater. Did you notice the slope?
Farzad using the words “blown up” lol
Can we just set robo taxi to pickup the driver only so it can only pick one person up (driver of the car) when you go to an event with your own tesla, but also want to ride it back?
We are puumpppping!!! BTC,ETH,SOL next fourprime listing. We gonna remember this week for a long time
If a vehicle is needed for a city trip vs a highway trip, I assume a different vehicle could be used that would be optimized for each specific trip. A smaller battery, with a lower top speed of 45mph for 10 mile trips might not need to be as heavy as something that needs to travel 70mph for 50 miles. Lower speed tires, smaller battery, etc would all do fine for in city rides.
