Very good video. The graphics are clear and helpful, the camera work is excellent. It is nice to listen to a narrator who has put thought into the narrative narrative beforehand. Thanks!
Nicely explained, Jeff. The clamping tool is my big takeaway from this - having non-heatsinking clamps for other purposes is a great idea - in my case, soldering on phosphor-bronze etched joint bar details.
Thank you! Not the most popular or widely used modeling project but when you need it, it's good to have a technique available. I still have a bunch of these transitions to do on the logging part of our layout. Should be fun!
Just what I needed - thank you. Have been trying to join Peco code 55 and Fleishmann Piccolo (N-scale), but found it virtually impossible to do with standard track joiners...
Hello Jeff! I have done the same as you for code 100 to code 83. Recently, I tried something new, converting a standard rail joiner to a transition rail joiner by cutting the sides out for a small distance in the middle and then bending it. I was amazed how well the rails mate up. If you are unsure what a transition rail joiner looks like......do a search on Google. What are you using for lacquer thinner? Jim K.
This is the kind of question that can be best answered by the railroad staff. Check their website for information, oregoncoastscenic.org. I was a video producer on site to witness the Heisler unloading but am not involved in the day-to-day operation of their shop.

Thanks Jeff. Always appreciate great tips to utilize on modeling issues with a MR layout.

I want to join peco flexi track to Tomix track. Any ideas. Tomix is similar to Kato in joining.
I believe that you can clean solder joints with a 50-50 mixture of acetone and isopropyl alcohol.
Is there a update about that engine 2 years earlier? If not can we get one?

Down vote for HO scale.
