  • Well if you are following along on this 1953 Chevy Truck project truck there are some big scary parts ahead and we handle the biggest one in this episode, dropping the cab back on the new frame! As you hopefully saw in previous episodes there were some complications due to the nose and cab being seam welded and painted so, getting it back on the frame was more than a little scary!
    As for the Code 504 frame swap kit, and the engine relocation plates, we are extremely impressed! All the fitment and production is top notch and ready to bolt together on the S-10 chassis, it's honestly a shape all this awesome frame stuff will be completely hidden by the 53 Chevy Truck Body!
    As we finish off mounting up brake lines, doing the engine relocation plates, and dropping the cab back on the chassis we are still struggling to find a set of headers that will work for our setup. Unfortunately this is proving to be a more and more complicated repair! But, big progress made in this episode!
    Lucore Automotive is a small family owned independent business in Central Ohio just outside the Columbus / Dublin Metro area, our main business is in maintaining daily drivers and work vehicles but as you can see we get our hands on more than a few toys as well. Classic cars, muscle cars, muscle trucks, we have seen a wide range of them over the years and are always here to help!
    As always thank you to all of our friends, family, fans, supporters, subscribers, and most of all our customers! Without whom we wouldn't be able to be here doing what we love to do! We hope you enjoy this video, more on this and other projects coming soon!

    You would never believe the amount of trouble your keeping my husband out of.
    At least until football season.
    Thank you for standing up and admitting your mistakes.
    It's the best part of the video.

      Thanks for watching, it's definitely been a process! Hopefully you are learning some things from what we have run into along the way that will help make your project smoother and faster!

    Saying we are excited to see this project "close" to completed is SUCH a huge rush for us! It's been a pretty long involved process getting this thing done, and done right, but we think our customer will ultimately REALLY be happy with the end product! Hope you all have enjoyed this series so far, just a few more nuts and bolts!

    I just did a code 504 s 10 frame swap on my 51 chevy 5 window cab. very nice kit , I used the set back plates and cast iron manifolds from a 92 chevy truck. cleared but very close to steering linkage and control arms. I have the truck running and driving now but still working on small stuff. very glad I did it, lots of work but worth it.

      We HAD been curious and kicked around doing the same sort of exhaust set up, but we really wanted to make a set of headers work for this thing. How did your whole experience with the kit go? And major headaches? What were your biggest hurdles and fitment issues? Oh and thanks for watching!

    You can build your own drive shaft if you can weld . I swing your old shaft . then have it balanced been there done that . for less than $ 100.00

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly possible to build your own if you can weld and purchase the materials. Professionally for us, it's not worth the time/energy/effort to do so then have the assembly balanced. In our world it's best to leave that to our driveshaft builders so it comes to us perfect and balanced in a day or so.

    Is that the original 4.3L s10 engine. I have a 1947 3600, I want to do the same thing. I understand an extracab long bed is just about the same wheel base. Great information, thanks.

    Did you look at the serpentine belt systems?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have done them in the past and it's definitely a great conversion though can get pretty pricey! On this project we are trying to keep costs down for the customer so reusing as much of their original stuff that wss in the truck as possible.
      There's a chance that not far down the line the motor may get swapped out for something a bit more modern and punchy but for now, she'll be back on the road with her old heart.

    Did not see the set back plates on the website. Did you just call and ask for them?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the kit is www.code504.com/grand-slam-motor-mounts/
      They WILL split the kit up and sell you just the plates but you have to call them. Hope that helps!

    What oil pan did you end up going with? Also I read that the hooker black hearts work really well on the S10 frame.

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The oil pan is the stock one off an early 80s 2nd Gen Camaro. The headers question is... complicated. Because of our setup there really isn't a great "off the shelf" solution that worked. We'll be covering some of that in the next video that will be coming very soon.

    I’m doing the same build with the 504 kit but I’m using a 6.0, has anyone done this swap or have any pointers?

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly an LS should be a pretty smooth swap as far as fitment, they make all the correct pieces as long as you order the kit with the LS and proper transmission in mind. Best pointer we can give is spend time on PREP! Make sure your donor frame is straight and true, measure and cut carefully. Spending the extra time on the naked frame will save you a TON of headaches down the road.

    • @Dfull3r
      @Dfull3r 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lucore Auto and LucoreRacing thanks for the advice it’s greatly appreciated, was thinking of using a 4l60e or 4l80 as my transmission. I’m just trying to decide if I wanna use the factory ecu or go with a stand alone.

    • @richardlucore6813
      @richardlucore6813 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Dfull3r cheaper to run an unlocked factory PCM and harness. Use the 4l60E unless you are shooting for more than 500hp the 4L80e consumes alot more HP and consumes alot more space.

    • @richardlucore6813

      @@Dfull3r I would use this set if I was putting an LS in it. Hooker Blackheart Exhaust Manifolds 71223026HKR. there are also stainless headers out there that will work for the S10 platform
