I really want to like the Hornet, but I don’t. Honda is trying to compete with Yamaha and keep costs down… In the end we all have different boxes to tick and it’s awesome that there is so much to choose from. My 2023 CB650R fits me greatly. Im not a tall person so Im never cramped. I love the looks of it. It’s fast when I want it to be and smooth and docile when wanting as well. It feels premium, making me feel I own something with value. Yes, it’s not perfect, but what is? There would be nothing left after perfection… In the end we could own 100s of motorcycles in a lifetime and they would all have different characteristics. The important thing is to CHOOSE THE BIKE YOU LIKE! KEEP RIDING! BE SAFE!
All the reviews frown on the Cb650r but anyone who rides them loves them, that’s why I bought one. You gotta keep the revs high and stay in the power band. It’s a different riding style than the 2 cylinder bikes where you have less room to the redline and lots of torque down low. But I don’t want low down torque in the city bc it’s too jerky.

Owned the 650. The midrange was infuriatingly gutless. Yes it's fun revving the crap out of it, but it gets old when every time you pin the throttle under 8000rpm you get nothing and feel like you're waiting for the power. I now own an older Er6f/Ninja 650 and I honestly MUCH prefer the Kawi motor.
the cb650R on the other hand.... a masterpiece. I don't think the hornet is horribly ugly, but it does look like a.. hornet. Not my first choice of design.
Haha so you only look at the bike then, they're meant to be ridden and the Hornet kicks ass, that unicam set up like the CR's will make you forget its looks! Which isn't that ugly as you want it to be.

I owned 2 CB650R and 2 CB750 Hornet. Aesthetically I prefer the CB650 but when it comes to riding for fun and even short to medium distancie trips I'll take the Hornet any day.
Haha, that naming is awful from my point of view. I know it comes after generations of small differences but it's mad when you consider CB750, CB650R, and even CBR650R and CBR600RR are all current models!
Same here, albeit the CBR650R. I will admit though that at 6'4, the cramped knee angle and bent forward sporty riding position has me looking to change it for something larger with a more upright position. I will state that the 650 is a high quality machine and the engine is a class act. New models get the TFT, too.
For future reference please refer to these bikes as 650 (six fifty) and 750 (seven fifty). NOT six hundred and fifty and seven hundred and fifty, there is no need to keep mentioning hundred as it was grating and irritating and takes to long to annunciate when it's perfectly obvious which model you are referring to.
If only the 750 would look like the 650😅 I really want a CB1000R but way to expensive. The 650 is not powerfull enough and the 750 doesn’t look that good.
@@danniedwards5750it’s a cool bike! But for a naked it is simply too powerfull. It has more power than you can put on the road, and topspeed is way higher than you can use because the air drag will pull you of the bike😅 but when you don’t drive like a hooligan it’s a very smooth and civil bike. It’s very nimble for a liter bike, seating position is very good and it all feels very balanced. But my dream bike would be this bike, with this looks and handling, but with the V4 engine from the VFR800. It sounds way better and has more torque in the lower revs.
Good review and video over all but the narrator should practice reading manuscript with a bit more flow. All the praise of the Hornet is probably correct but redundant since it is so ugly I would not be caught dead on it. Cheers
I prefer the tourquee twin in the 750 . I own the 500 twin version and low to medium range rocks. it's quick not fast and can't imagine what the 750 feels like with almost double the power. 650 is for your what the neighbor thinks. i could careless what it sounds like or if it looks beefer . most will replace the exhaust with aftermarket anyways. I still have the stock pipe and will stay with it because i don't like overly loud bikes plus it keeps it's value with original parts.
Hornet 750 would be an absolute gem if they had squeezed 650's four cylinder engine in it, and honda would make a killing. I personally consider hornet 750, but I can't live with a parallel twin and would definitely chose 650R even if it is more expensive.

The Hornet is about being fun, cheap and accessible. What’s „fun” changes, and I agree with the direction they’ve chosen. I see why you might want to call the CB650r a real H. Hornet, but none said that 4 cylinders and a round headlight is what constitutes the Hornet.
@@redminute6605 what about the multiple Hornets with round headlights and four cylinder engines 😂?There is also a new hornet coming out with a 1000 cc's and four cylinders. No round headlights though.
