    I drive the Trident, first Triumph I ever bought, 48 years of only Yamaha 38 of those on 1000 fours. I really like the Trident, nice smooth engine, have no problems with the throttle, suspension a bit hard but also very good roadholding. Comfortly on very long drives + 500km even with luggage. I am 65 years old, 68 kg and 1,67 m. Very bad right knee and shattered left wrist but still driving.

    I own a cb650r because of a number of factors. First it’s beautiful (the all bike if you discount the plate support). Then it’s a authentic 4 pot mid Honda which will be a rare classic in a couple of years. Is sounds marvelous and for a second bike to go around town or in weekend trips, it’s perfect, it’s nimble and small enough that I can move it around easily (it depends on what your used to, but comparing with my GS1200Adventure, it’s very light). I really dislike the new hornet looks (I know it’s a matter of esthetic likes or dislikes but that headlight and fairing…). It may be a very good bike but you have to “feel” something about our stuff, and the 2 cylinder mid capacity Hondas are not for me. If you talk about the Yamahas mt07, mp2 engine your talking about soul, the 4cyl Hondas 650, 750, Triumph 3cyl etc always had always owned there own charisma and factor of fun that’s characteristic and somewhat authentic. Changing that distinctive factor is a comercial mistake in my opinion. Honda should be smart enough to invest in there own clusters and not go with the general flow. The triumph is also lovely and exudes character. The hornet, in my (debatable) opinion, is bland and with no “taste”.

    @marcwelstand6791 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Goes to show how we all have different taste. I think the round head-light looks ugly, like theyre stuck in the 80's. There's probably a method to the madness with the shape of the headlight with the Hornet. Over and over again Hornet reviews say that at speed the Hornet (for a naked bike at least) has a smooth airflow round the rider. Perhaps this is why Honda styled it this way.

    I had a new 2021 CB650R and swapped it for a Triumph Street Twin 900 after 1 yr. CB is a lovely bike but have to rev too high, bars too low, seat height for me and average handling. Triumph twin torque with 5 speed is amazing, ride position better all round, leans in on corners so easy, exhaust with Vance and Hines cans is something else, looks better than the 3 tested IMO. Nearly bought a Trident, glad I didn’t. Enjoyed the vid 👍

    The CB650R was the only bike I've rode thus far that I was looking for the fastest loop back to the dealership. Just felt too bulky and didn't feel apart of me when I wanted to flick it around.... What I'd love to see is a comparison between the Hornet and two bikes in a different class, the Monster 937 and the Street Triple. Sure, they are more premium, but what percentage of thrills is one getting for the money in comparison?! Can the Hornet punch above it's weight? 🤔

    • @512460
      @512460 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lool funny explanation. I also agree with the comparison
      I've heard the triumph get a lot of praise for handling. However this is only word of mouth and haven't experienced it. Same with the MT line from yamaha word of mouth says suspension and brakes are awful.

    • @mindcave
      @mindcave ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@512460 yes, there's a rhetoric going around about the MT line about awful suspension. From what I can ascertain, that stems back from the MT-O7 several releases ago when it WAS awful and spongy. However, Yamaha have improved it since, albeit it still might not be perfect. It seems the rhetoric still continues from when it was worse though. I can attest that my MT-03 has better suspension than what the 07 had when it was underperforming. The Triumphs are fantastic to ride. As is the Monster 937 which is so easy to ride! My Hornet could arrive next week, so I'll soon get a taste comparatively. It seems to tick all the right boxes for me. Small, agile and fast acceleration. Basically what I wish my MT-03 was, as it only ticks 2 out of 3 of those boxes.

    I would rather see the Hornet compared to the new Zuzuki 2 cylinder and the Mt07. The hornet seems like a great bike but i dont like how it looks. And to me a motorcycles looks are important. Honda shouldve made it look more like the cb1000. I dont like all of the over angular naked bikes that keep coming out. With there rock hard passenger seats that are a mile high. And the red frame and forks dont do it for me either. And i dont like the tank with whatever you call those wings pointing out the front of it. I dont know who designs these bikes and thinks that looks good. And the headlight shape everyone is doing now sucks. At least the Honda 650 and Trident look nice. I test road the Honda 650 and didnt like its lack of low end power. I prefer the engine on the MT07. Why couldnt the Hornet look like the new red Triump 765 Street Tripple RS. I did my mod 1 on the 750 and mod 2 on the 650.. I found low speeds stuff was so much smoother on the 650.. I found the 750 very juddery low down.. it's not for me..

      I owned the cb. The midrange is annoyingly weak. I got tired of needing 8000rpm going into a corner just to get decent pull on the exit.

    Getting ready to take my bike test here. Would love to buy a hornet but the lack of weather protection means I will likely go for a Triumph 660 sport instead.

    Loved this video. I have a 650 V Strom which I love but the Hornet ticks all the boxes for me, this video has me almost convinced to order one. Just need a test ride but testing any Honda in my part of the world seems to be extremely frowned upon by the dealers in Aberdeen and Dundee (Eccosse Motorcycles) so I feel a nice ride to Glasgow coming up.

      it's just stupid that suzuki's 650's are priced so high now vstrom 650xt is more expensive than transalp 750 where I am, and the sv650 will probably be more expensive than the hornet, same with yamaha's mt07. honda will stomp on these bikes.

  • @filoIII
    @filoIII ปีที่แล้ว

    IDK if Honda needed a 750 parallel twin. 700 like the MT07 woulda been cool. MT anything SUCKS suspension-wise, so, Honda would eat Yamaha's lunch if they put out a proper handling 700cc p. twin.

    The cbr 650 to me, is nice looking and build quality is good, but that motor does need the higher revs before the sweet spot. The hornet, all round is clearly the better package and value for money. But! Yeah there is always a but! The hornet styling, as soon as I look away, I have no lasting impression, absolute vanilla, what a shame. Perhaps they will bring out a different different style bike like yamaha did with the mt07 and the xsr 700. So, that leaves the trident! Yeah bought one, hits all the right notes for me. No issue with the throttle. Would agree the rear shock, if I was heavier might be a problem, you can uprate, would cost you £300 odd quid tho'. Anyway! It doesn't bother me I,m chuffed to bits with this bike. 👍

  • @fukyu3739

    Also I completely disagree with the outdated and bulky CB beating out the Trident espescially considering price.

    2 cylinders are fun but the vibration, noise and engine braking combined are unbearable

  • @Tommy-Atkins

    Perhaps they’ll bring out a less angular round headlight styled bike like the CB650R but with the hornet engine?..call it the CD750!!👌

  • @aGentleUser

    I've ridden the CB650R and didn't like it that much. I remember it had for sure power but late, combined with vibrations. So you could cruise or race, but the transition between both felt a little long, while riding it over 8000 all time just sounds annoying for me. It looks however very nice!

    Great video review. You say the stock exhaust is better than the SC Project on the Hornet. Why is this? I was thinking of having the SC instead, now not so sure

      The standard is louder but the SC project helps it breath and looks better.

    Cool r3view. I found tne CB650R suspension a bit. Underdamped and felt cheap. Is the hornet better? Si ilar spec but longer travel.

      Hi Paul. The latest CB650R has the same as the Hornet. Weird the Hornet felt a touch better.

    • @paulconnell1309
      @paulconnell1309 ปีที่แล้ว

      In NZ the 650 has forks 108mm travel and shock 128mm. The 750 has 130mm and 150mm travel. So explains the difference. Any chance of a comparison with the Suzuki GSX 8G?

  • @AcmeRocket

    The hornet is clearly the most budget built of the 3

    • @marcwelstand6791
      @marcwelstand6791 ปีที่แล้ว

      Apart from the Hornet's swing-arm, which is definitely the least exciting looking, I'm not sure where the Hornet is actually "budget" compared to the other two. Twins are cheaper to make that triples or i4's. The CBR 650 is still about £700/800 more than Hornet and they share the same suspension. Triumphs are guaranteed to cost more coz they don't make the same quantity of bikes compared to Honda. Disregarding which dash any one may prefer the look of, the Hornet is the most comprehensive, it certainly looks more premium than the other two. I had the same dash on my 2023 CB500f as the CB650R and it was a bugger to read the chunky sized speedo in even moderate light, as for the rest of the smaller dash info, forget it. It was only visible at night.

    Why are hornet blinkers blinking all the time? is it camera or just a feature of the bike?
