What I don't get is why use a 18" rim then put 40 series tires on it......Come on Toyota this isn't a sports car.....It should have at least 55 series tires for a lot nicer ride and give it some more ground clearance for AWD models also.

Your title, affordable Prius, is an oxymoron. base Prius price with freight is 29k, Fuel savings on the Prius monroney sticker is $750 MORE savings than Corolla: OVER FIVE YEARS! But IF you can get a Prius at MSRP you still have to amortize that $4k more you paid for the Prius than the Corolla hybrid by only the $150/year savings from the Corolla fuel efficiency. That works out to 26+ YEARS to break even by buying the Prius vice the Corolla HB, ha ha. BTW was in the dealers today getting my Tundra (free) serviced, they had a new Prius...$39k, NOT 29K, and the dealer had added an additional dealer markup sticker Nitrogen filled tires $299, LIFETIME security etching $499. And that pregnant-roller-skate-with-NO-trunk Prius had a SOLD tag in the window! Pretty darned expensive payment to get economy.
