We live in a world where a Toyota Prius is quicker than sport compact cars like a Civic Si or VW GLI and it gets 50+ MPG. It’s also cheaper than both to start. Bravo, Toyota! 👏🏼👏🏼
If you compare them to the FWD Prius though, the Civic Si and GLI are a little quicker. But still great to see the Prius finally get a little hair on the chest.
@@lennygarrison6836Toyota tends to understate their 0-60 times for their hybrids, they seem to end up being quicker real world RAV4 and Camry hybrids are the same way.
Got one! An AWD XLE Black! and I'm telling you, I feel as smug as I'd feel for someone in 1953 loving a new Corvette! This car! It's all drive-by-wire, powerful, sporty car drivability, high-tech, comfortable, and a design that wows!
I'm excited to see Toyota's new design language here. This is a preview of what we will see on their future product, at least the sedans (excuse them for the Crown). It's time to move away from big-mouths on the front. I would prefer a high-roof car or wagon body but this car is tempting. As an aside, Sofyan Bey generally has excellent reviews: careful presentations, hits the details (sometimes with just a passing remark} and full pricing. Sofyan has a good presentation script, which is efficient. This is the third review I've watched of this vehicle and it's the best.
@Redline Reviews, DAMMIT. As a devoted manual transmission stick shift lover, this new Prius is looking sooo freakin nice and checkmarks a LOT of positive things. I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm really wanting the Prime version now. Hopefully the reviews come soon!! 👍👍
Whenever I see Sofyan uploaded a new video, I stop scrolling and immediately click to watch. His way of compressing a lot of information, deliver it in a fast pace, is so underrated. 💯
Really a great reviewer. I'm admiring how he talks smoothly and for such a long time with no apparent cuts (after a potential blooper) very very good job!
I bought a Prius Limited and absolutely love it. Upgraded my 2010 Prius. It's got almost safety feature imaginable (most standard) and worth the premium price for the limited I think. It's really a looker too. Cutting edge is the best color I think! Great review as always BTW
I remember a lot of people were questioning the Prius' longevity given that the Corolla and Camy hybrid for example are available, but I'm glad Toyota is sticking with the new model, and I do think these new updates will make it a decent buy.
We love our two Rav 4 Primes. We drive in EV 85% of the time and go 6 months on one tank of gasoline. On vacation we get 42 mpg on the freeway if we keep it under 80 mph. The PHEV Prius would be a good choice if the price isn’t over MSRP but that is wishful thinking. Plan on $5k over MSRP.
I would get this in a heartbeat if I needed a fun track car and this as a daily driver. I’m still surprised with how good this Prius looks on the inside and out. Honda are you watching?
Just rented one for Vegas. My fiance and I were pretty surprised how low they made the car, hit my head first few times getting in and out and Im 5'10 lol but other than that, it is a great car, looks really good and has all the tech you really need. I was impressed!
Sofyan, This new Prius is great for those 'built low to the ground' but dropping the headroom by several inches forces taller drivers into a CUV that burns far more gas.
The Corolla Hybrid and Camry Hybrid also get pretty similar MPG and have more headroom inside. Toyota has lots of hybrid options if you need that head space.
Awesome review! I'm very excited to see how the public will respond to the redesign and the bump in power. I think Toyota bet wisely that folks are not yet ready for 100% EV life, especially when you consider the messy state of our national charger network. We still have a long way to go infrastructure-wise.
You are an excellent and a professional automotive journalist. And focus on details such as ingress/egress that others don't. Many other reviewers these days on YT, sound like bad new car salesmen, trying to be funny. But they really don't know how to seriously review vehicles. I used to belong to the Motor Press Guild (MPG).
This thing looks really good. The tech and power increase is a nice upgrade. Although, I'm surprised that Toyota didn't put turn signals on the side mirrors. That seems like a weird omission.
They are saving that for a 2nd year model. And 3rd year will have legit fog lights. Then the 4th year will bring back the rear windshield wiper. Then full electric. Lol.
i have a 22 Tucson hybrid, which does 0-60 in 6.8. nice to see this doing the same. in 2024 ill prob ditch my Tucson and get one of these, but i want the prime limited. air cooled seats in vegas are a necessity.
The EV mode has been around for a while. I use it in my 4th-gen Prius for driving around parking lots. You can slowly(!) accelerate in EV mode to somewhere around 20 mpg without EV mode getting disabled. My 4th-gen Prius also has an actual color head-up display, which I think was an option. I would miss that along with my car's opening sunroof. But in just about every other way, this new Prius is much better.
Love the looks (coming from a Tacoma owner lol). Two questions: does it have a heated wheel, and is that awful front, squared off license plate mount removable? I surely hope it's not molded into the front bumper, especially on a car so concerned with aero.
I like the styling and features a lot, but I'm worried about the lowered roof, apparently reduced headroom (with panoramic roof at least), and H-point. I don't want a CUV, but I don't want a very low car like an older Civic.
Looks fantastic! With what happened over the summer with gas prices I’m definitely considering Prius! HOWEVER!!! WHY OH WHY DON’T THEY OFFER A SPARE WHEEL ON THE HIGHER TRIM!! Absolutely stupid
How is the visibility from left to right at the windshield with the pillars so far forward? I have a Honda Fit and hate the blind spot from left to right at these same forward style pillars .
The 101 between Carlsbad and Encinitas is a strange choice for Toyota to have the press test out the new Prius. They should have done it up by Palomar mountain if they wanted to show off the whole performance thing they are pushing. I guess at least it's better than doing the test on the 5 just on the other side of the bay by tamarack where there is Perma traffic haha
Fabulous review! I've always wanted a Prius - and now may be the time...love the new looks and tech. I have a question though... is it difficult getting used to the digital review mirror? Or is it a pretty easy to get used to?
I figured Toyota would be cancelling the Prius after after the current model run was done but instead they do the impossible and make a Prius sexy and exciting! And yeah a GR Prius would be on my short list to replace my TDI Golf.
Great review! I'm really excited to test drive one, but there seems to be ZERO availability. What's going on? How long is the wait for inventory or do I need to pre-order? First time buying a new car. TIA.
Auto manufacturers do know that mother nature hasn't done away with FOG, dont they?? Because when its really foggy at night, fog lights are definitely very helpful...except for that, this is definitely the best looking Prius I've ever seen.
The blue exterior is the best. The light grey seats look bigger and more expensive than the dark black. Id rather have the smaller rims because the prius is meant to be a daily driver that will hit a lot of of potholes and curbs.
Overall, the design looks good. However, I think the two screens should have been placed side by side rather than separately. It just looks a bit unbalanced and odd to me that way.
“This is all happening very quickly” LMFAOOOO I said the same thing. They want the old model GONE asap. I can’t believe they allowed a review out already without the embargo.

One of the best things Toyota has done in ages!👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
The non-flat rear floor adds rigidity to the floorboard (less noise transmission too) and a passage for the exhaust.
This is a classic example of someone saying, "hold my beer".
Toyota has a homerun with the new Prius.
I would get the smaller rimmed model with front wheel drive only. This thing is beautiful!

👏🏾
Honda needs to answer with the I insight. The last generation was far more stylish and faster than the equivalent Prius.
If the new Accord is any sign of that, they won’t. They are watering down their line up.
Honda still in a styling slump. Sad to say, the HRV is their best looking vehicle.
