I think the Corolla is a superb vehicle. It feels tight, it rides quite well, it's reasonably quiet and it just flat out works. The hybrid makes it even better.
Drive a German car and then you know what tight and solid feels like not too mention how a car is supposed to handle. I highly doubt that this 'superb vehicle' is on anyone's wish list or the vehicle they aspire too.
I purchased a 2022 Corolla Hybrid and I am regularly getting 60+ mpg. Changes were made to the motor on the 2023 to give it slightly more power at the cost of mpg. Some say this may have been done so the Prius would have the higher mpg number. Not sure why but I'm glad I got the 2022. Nevertheless the Corolla is an excellent vehicle and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for an efficient vehicle that is a practical everyday driver.
Same here..I got the 2022 corolla hybrid also...not sure why they reduced mpg...the reason people purchased this vehicle is because of mpg...not horsepower...and why did they eliminate the keyless ignition...and also the 7 in h multimedia display dash??.....so glad I got a 2022
I got 21 Corolla hybrid sedan still getting good 60+ mpg only thing potholes I gotta watch as suspension softer than my last car (Subaru Impreza) alignment
For the folks complaining about how there aren't any affordable cars left: quit looking at full size pickup trucks and SUVs, *this* is your answer. You don't need an expensive, inefficient, and oversized vehicle for the kids you *might* have. By the time they're too big to fit in the Corolla comfortably that SUV or full cab truck will be 12-16 years old and you're probably looking to replace it anyway. And with the money you save on the purchase and the fuel, you can pick up a used pickup truck for the handful of times a year you tow or hunt or need to haul mulch or impress the bros.
Toyota is killing it with the efficient vehicles this is like the perfect every day car really cannot get better than Toyota products Toyota knows exactly how to deliver the goods
I was thinking the same thing. But with near 200hp and 4 seconds faster to 60, the new Prius is the clear winner for me. Unless the Prius got way more expensive or the Corolla gets the new hybrid system I’m not sure why would pick the Corolla hybrid over the Prius.
@@slscamg the Prius will be more expensive. Rumors are the top of the line plug in Prius will top $40k, and it might start a little higher than the new Corolla too.
There’s really nothing to add here that you didn’t already cover in this episode. It’s a Corolla. It will get great gas mileage, last forever, and you can eventually give it to your kids and they can then give it to their grandkids (if there are still gas stations in 20 years). All that said, if I was looking at a daily that gets insane gas mileage, I’d also go for the next generation Prius over this version of Corolla.
I didn’t even know this car exist I have a Gen3 raptor I’d love to have one of these to drive everyday and run errands save gas and use my truck for fun living in Michigan for the snow the awd would be cool this seems like a cool car
Dear Toyota, If you haven’t heard, there are parts of the country that, in mid November, can allow you to showoff what your AWD can do. Signed, Minnesota.
This Corolla hybrid has an e-CVT which isn't really a CVT at all. As for the gasoline Corolla, it has a CVT with a physical first gear which gives it great off the line acceleration.
Amazing prices you're quoting. Friend just bought a gas corolla. $31k plus trade in. So the hybrid is $7k cheaper? That's awesome. I would have thought paying for 2 power systems and that Chinese battery would make it more expensive not cheaper.
I saw they were offering this car with an interior called almond which was a two tone tan color. However, I have yet been able to find the FWD LE model for less than $29k
The problem is the awd system isn't particularly good at what youll likely need it for: driving in the snow. The way the power gets delivered (or doesnt) to rear wheels or slipping wheels is almost useless. Its a shame because an AWD Hybrid corolla is such a friggin great idea.
Don't they make an SE version, which would give you a little more buttoned-down ride? I thought they also had some sort of infrared version that adds a little of the color you wanted in the interior? I suspect this car is everything many people need combined with Toyota reliability, a great price point, and superb mileage. They'll probably sell a ton.
If they made one that was just a tad bit more unlike every other corolla you see on the road, it would be a hybrid I'd consider. Just add some stylish alloy wheels, and add some color inside. If it stayed under say 28k I would say it would be a hit
Don’t buy awd! I see people in the south driving awd vehicles, not needed. Awd is $, heavy, less mpg, expensive to repair. Fwd is the way to go 90% of the time. Even if your in the snow ❄️ belt (I’m sorry for you) fwd and 2 snow tires are the way to go, otherwise you would need 4. Also, if you drive a bev, fwd is better at regen. Don’t let them sell you on this awd crap!
not surprised it's so cheap, i mean, the interior is Tesla cheap... i'm running a '15 Auris Euro hybrid, best mpg is 70.42, achieved 3 times at the pump. what would make me change it, would be a 2.0 hybrid hatch with the e-four awd that can shift from fw bias to a rw bias or 50/50 split. i mean, if i want fuel economy, i can always get the 1.8 hybrid. if they'll make a sportier version, then go all in.
The only thing separating me from something like this is just how bland and squishy it drives. I Have yet to try a hybrid Corolla, but I've driven a manual gas and a CVT gas one and...jeez even the manual one felt like a sponge. I know it's not supposed to be a sporty compact; it's target market wouldn't want that anyway. But as you've mentionned, a warmed up XRS one with near 200hp, steering that had a measurable amount of communication, and suspension that's eager to optimise the contact patch of the tire would go a long way. Have this available in the hatch? Or introduce a wagon for NA? (ok ok I'll stop) Everything else about this car is pretty great. But I do really despise CVTs. Kia mates their system to a 6-speed DCT and really changes the experience. I know we're looking at two extremes on the spectrum of long-term durability, but I'm definitely tempted by the Niro, especially in PHEV form.
the hybrid doesn't even have a traditional "CVT". its toyota's planetary gearset, so think electric motors linked to gears. Its super durable - look at all the old priuses running around.
I like Toyota's, but they're beginning to ask for way too much money for what they're selling. An all-wheel drive corolla in no way should be anywhere near 27 grand for a base model.
