    I love the colored seem. Do you put it on both edges of the image?

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Valerie! You don’t have to, but I often find myself simplifying the layer, the duplicating and rotating the duplicated layer horizontally and sliding over to the other side IF I’m using a drop shadow. That gives a]the same shadow to both edges. And I make the seam on the right side just a tad wider, since a tiny bit of the edge will overlap. I have another video detailing the process a little more. th-cam.com/video/NdPoK3I4xTM/w-d-xo.html Thanks so much for watching!

      Dawn, my measurements are 9-1/4” x 8-1/8”. I cut about an eighth of an inch off from either side. That’s for the tumblers I get now. I’ve had different measurements for other tumblers I’ve gotten in the past.

    I have watched all of your videos and used all of the tips and tricks to no avail. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. It's so discouraging. I bought the Eenour press, A-sub paper, and Hiipoo ink. I get good results where I get a good press but the top and bottom never turn out. Blacks are never fully black. Don't even get me started on the mugs. They are even worse. Ready to throw in the towel after wasting 8 tumblers, 6 mugs, and 4 glasses.

      Hey, Alma, I usually use a press at 365° and start at 50 seconds, rotate 180°, another 50 seconds, rotate 90°, 25 seconds, rotate 180° for a final 25 seconds. So I end up doing 4 rotations for a total of 150 seconds. I always use light pressure. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    Maybe I need the wider tape.. No matter what I do I still get a little triangle of ghosting at the top and bottom. I've pushed it down, taped it heavily, etc. Most recently I bought the clear heat tape. I've always worried about my center seam not looking perfect. I switched to an overlap and it's a little better. But no matter how much attention I give it, it's still almost always visible. I use a scraper tool but I usually have at least a few spots at the top and bottle.

    • @industrialfringe953

      Yeah, the top and bottom are the trickier spots! If you have a minute take a look at this video. I show a little more about how I push the tape down and get it really close against the seam and edges. th-cam.com/video/7ih7ZYQ4s_Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LQD33DTou5e5fxng

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I’m glad you happened upon this! Different people sublimate for different reasons. A lot of people get into sublimation as a hobby with the hopes of turning it into a business. And some just do it as a hobby. Then there are those that start out with the sole intention of building it into a business, or to add additional products to an existing business. My girlfriend and I are have an extremely hard time to get the ghosting to go away. We’ve watched a ton of different videos with no luck, could it be we’re using a mug press instead of a tumbler press? I have a tumbler press on the way but if it’s not going to make a difference I’d return it. Thanks

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Caleb! Im going to say yes, I believe a tumbler press with make a lot of issues go away that could be caused by trying to press a tumbler in a mug press. That said, there are a lot of cheap tumbler presses from eBay, Amazon and Alibaba that are hit or miss and sometimes make me nervous. So yes, a tumbler press will alleviate a lot of issues, but there could be additional or other issues with a tumbler press. I press at 365 degrees with the seam at the 9 o’clock position (looking at the bottom) for 50 seconds, rotate 180 degrees (seam at 3 o’clock position) for 50 seconds, rotate 90 degrees (seam at 6 o’clock position) for 25 seconds, rotate 180 degrees (seam at 12 o’clock position) for a final 25 seconds. If you get a chance, check out some of my other videos. I go over the process in at least one other video! Thanks for watching!

    Hey I am new to crafting, we have a cup press. I was told to use butcher paper to wrap the cup before you put it in the press, is there a reason you don't?

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! I always suggest to use some sort of blowout paper (butcher paper, computer pater, etc.), and I do on coffee mugs, but I don’t with tumblers! When I first started, I forgot, I never had any issues, so I just kept making them without the blowout paper! I think the type of sublimation paper you use can help or hurt. I use HTVRONT and don’t have any issues. But if you ask me, I would suggest, out of an abundance of caution to use it! Thanks for watching!

    I'm so sorry do you have a video hiw your measuring and cutting your wraps. I think my problem is I either have too much over lap or cut the top and bottom short to avoid the edges from ghosting

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ll definitely work on trying to add a video (or maybe a short) on measuring, cutting a d wrapping the paper. In a nutshell, my top is flush with the top of the cup, my bottom is long enough to just start curving on the bottom, and my paper overlap is about 1/8” total (1/16” image and 1/16” blank paper). Sometimes that 1/16” is more like 1/8”, but I try to keep it at 1/16”.

      Thank you! My prints are 9-1/4” by 8-1/8”. There is about 1/16 - 1/32” design overlap and just under 1/8” white paper overlap. The hope is the total overlap, design and white paper is around 1/8”.

      Blacks coming out brown is an indication of too much time and/or a temperature too high. Funny you should ask! For coffee mugs, I add a piece of copy paper, but for tumblers I do not! Don’t ask me why, I don’t know! Well, truthfully I do know, i]but it’s a little embarrassing! When I first started using a press, I was doing coffee mugs and began using blowout paper. When I did my first few tumblers, I forgot to add it, and then just kept going with that process! But I do suggest people use some sort of blowout paper, just to make sure no ink gets on their press!

I press at 365 degrees for 50 seconds, rotate 180 degrees and press another 50 seconds, rotate 90 degrees and press for 20 seconds, and finally rotate 180 degrees and press for 20 seconds.I haven’t had any issues regarding tape residue. How do you create a seam

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  ปีที่แล้ว

      I create in Photoshop. Sometimes I’ll add a rectangle shape that’s the color of part of the design and shade it. Sometimes I copy a piece of the design and paste it and duplicate it until it’s long enough, then I sometimes add a shadow. If I do add a shadow, I’ll often do a seam on both sides so when it’s pressed, the shadow is on both edges of the seam. Thanks for watching!

    What is the measurement of your image/paper? Or do you cut the paper to the size of tumbler? (Example my paper is 8.5x11 so when I print 9.3 by 8.1 there is a lot of white I have to cut off… I’m never sure of what size I should make the paper to wrap around the tumbler) I’m the video it wrapped around perfectly and I didn’t see you trim off anything….. also should the image overlap at the seem?

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Crystal! I print on 8-1/2” x 11” paper as well. My image is 9-1/4” x 8-1/8”. Once I print the image, I trim the top, bottom and right side right on the edge of the design, cutting off a super small amount (like 1/64”), just enough to make sure there’s no white. I leave a small bit of white on the left side. That will end up being the top of the overlap. My overlap is between 1/8” and 1/4”. I try to stay closer to only 1/8”. Thanks for watching!

    What size do you print your design and do you Trim off all white to edge of the design before sublimating. One last question. Whe wrapping do you have any overlay or does the paper but up end to end because depending on each shipment I get from my supplier the circumference of the tumbler may be different per each case
    Thanks
    Vicki

    • @industrialfringe953
      @industrialfringe953  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Vicki! Great questions! I print my design 9-1/4” by just under 8-1/8”. I completely trim 3 of the sides and leave about 1/16” on the side that will overlap. When I wrap, I overlap anywhere between 1/16” and 3/16”, usually closer to 1/8”. I’ve gone as much as 1/4” overlap, depending on the circumference of the tumbler. Because, yes, I’ve had sizing differences as well! I hope that makes sense! Thanks so much for watching!
