SNOWDON | A Solo Circular Hike via the Rhyd Ddu & Snowdon Ranger Path | Snowdonia

- Join me for my first solo climb of Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) , the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085m, along this beautiful 9 mile circular hike ascending via the Rhyd Ddu Path and descending via the Snowdon Ranger Path. This is a fantastic option for those, like me, who wish to climb Snowdon along a slightly quieter route - the ridge section isn't too challenging, requires some hands to climb up but nothing technical!

Hi Christine. First of all huge congratulations on getting to 1000 Subscribers. You must be thrilled but your videos are always such a pleasure to watch 😊 I was so pleased when I saw you had done the Rhyd Ddu route. It was even quiet when we went up last July in gorgeous weather which made it so much more enjoyable. I also like that you can see nearly all the route up from the Car Park. Really glad you enjoyed your first hike up to Snowdon and a brilliant video once again. Thankyou for taking us along with you and so much looking forward to many more adventures in the future 💕

@@shefreelyroams There was still cloud about it the valleys even though it was a beautiful day. At least we got a few nice views from the ridge. 3rd time lucky as the first 2 ascents we did were a wash out and no views at all 😒 Enjoy your weekend Christine

Aw I could happily film the autumn colours all day! & yes, think I got lucky with the crowds, was pleasantly surprised with how few people I met 😊🙌🏻 ooo that's exciting for you, can definitely recommend this route or just avoid Snowdon if don't want lots of people around you, plenty of other beautiful mountains to climb! Thank you for sharing this beautiful adventure with us. I have missed your videos so such a treat to see this pop up today. I climbed Snowdon last year by myself. I took the Miners track. I was lucky with both the weather and lack of people. It is incredibly beautiful there and I look forward to revisiting one day via the Watkin path as I understand there are a few waterfalls on that route so I would like to see those 😊

@@shefreelyroams I think I've done most routes except from Llanberis. If I could stitch one more Snowdon walk together then it would be: Pen-y-Pass > Miner's Track > turn off to Y Lliwedd (quieter and views of distant people on Crib Goch) > Snowdon (summit optional) > Watkin Path (I remember the tempting pools at the waterfalls > Return via Llyn Gwynant. I used a bus stop after the Watkin Path (was returning to Betws y Coed after a wild camp) but there is a path to explore. Perhaps easier parking in Nantgwynant. I would happily watch if you beat me to this, or anything with you on the less well trodden paths. Thanks for what you do.

@@shefreelyroams Well, that's good because I genuinely like the videos. I appreciated the captions on the adjacent hills as this gives the mind a taster of other possibilities (or links to your other videos). Your softly spoken nature brings a tranquillity and sense of isolation to your videos, rather than death defying drama of some others! Balancing the audio in wind is a nightmare for everyone. You must have more routes than time allows, so all in good time! I'm not sure of your aims for the channel but filming and sharing when YOU enjoy it feels authentic.
@@JasonSays good to know, thought it was a good opportunity to point out the surrounding area as often overlooked for Snowdon! Aw nice of you to say, want to bring a sense of calmness in the videos I share! But yes definitely, wind will always pose problems as want to be as authentic as possible and you lose some of that wildness and sounds of the outdoors with a mic! Thank you, no rush as you say and aim is just to share my love for the outdoors in the hope to inspire and encourage others to enjoy the outdoors too! 🫶🏻
Ahhh, what a delight to see you on your hikes again, such a calming energy that shines through on your videos, what stunning footage you captured too, I have yet to climb anywhere in snowdon, drove through last year after a visit to Anglesey though totally felt the emotion of the area, Herieth as my Welsh friend tells me as my grandfather was from the valleys so in my blood, thank you for sharing and I hope you are doing well ☺️

Yes I was expecting to see hordes of people, but only met a few, very lucky! Definitely recommend this route though if you dare make another visit as I've heard it's generally quite a bit quieter than the main routes up & thanks for watching Rob 🫶🏻😊

What a wonderful day you managed to pick fantastic views apart from at the top. I once waited camera poised for about 20 minutes that's a long time with crowds. By the time I clambered back to the café the clouds parted so I dashed up again and got some great shots. Amazing how quiet it was, and lovely to see you skipping back down. Are you completely back to normal now?

Thank you for another awesome video, avoided Snowdon for the same reasons but first time i did it was this way and never saw anyone at all until the summit 😃but its an awesome and very underused route thankfully, i did like the little ridge bit before the last hill climb to summit. looking forward to your next adventure 😊

What a superb video. I've been looking for a route for my first trip up Snowdon and wanted a circular one as opposed to 'up and down' - you've made my mind up for me! How long did it take to complete?
Thank you Andrew, pleased to hear you enjoyed the video 😊 It took me just under 5 hours to complete this, but bear in mind I am filming so going back and forth with the camera quite a bit! If using the Sherpa bus service between start and end points, definitely able to do in around 4 hours I'd say!

I’m staying at Snowdon base camp in a few weeks and I will be walking the rangers path. How long did it take you to complete the rangers path roughly? Thanks
I ascended via the Rhyd Ddu path so won't be able to say the time for an up and down on the Rangers Path, it took me just over an hour and a half to descend via the Rangers Path from the summit though - hope that helps somewhat! Enjoy 😊
