A few tips: (1) Car roof awning with walls: this gives you privacy, a place to sit outside incase it rains, and an easier place to change clothes. (2) rooftop cargo: extra storage space.

Glad to see you're out camping! That's the spirit! Maybe you could look at a teardrop to pull behind your car for more comfortable sleeping, a small kitchen and additional space. Just a thought.

I have a diffuser to use on the camp stove and the cook top in the trailer. They're both hard to throttle down enough for things like eggs and rice.

We camped in a Yurt in CT several years ago when we were in between campers and it was a rainy cold Labor Day weekend and we froze the first night. We learned from the office the next day that they had heaters to rent and our next two nights were better. We now have a TT. Great video David.

Great to see you back out there! As someone else here said, you should get a roof cargo box since you have roof rails. I have an old Thule Cascade XT for my Mazda (along with Thule roof rails) hatch and it holds a LOT of gear for more space in the car. Since you're in the PNW, I'm sure you can find a used one without any problem. Can't wait to see more of your upcoming adventures!

Last comment tonight and a question. Check out a channel called " Dome Life". I'd call it an extreme car camping channel. They sleep in a ground tent but pull a small trailer with all their toys in it. Kelly is what I'd call a gourmet camp chef. And now the question. What other channels can you recommend that are similar to your channel? Thanks for sharing your car camping adventures with us.

Glad you're back out there, David! Just wondering ... have you ever considered a SUV tent? Yesterday, the TH-cam algorithm led me to a bunch of Japanese videos where solo campers sit up tents and cook great meals while it's raining. Millions of views for many of them. I did not know that "camping in the rain" was a thing. Apparently, it is. LOL Anyway, I watched a couple and immediately thought of you and your camp cooking!! One especially -- SUV similar to yours with cool connecting tent set-up and such mouth-watering recipes. Great video!

Glad to see your back out and about. That breakfast looked yummy as does all of the food you cook. Is it just me or is that one of the most isolated camp sites that you've been to? That area is beautiful and that water so clear and clean looking. Looking forward to your next adventure.

I see you're car camping. I was thinking maybe try out a minivan. Maybe a minivan is low stress and low profile enough to satisfy the wanderlust yet not be the responsibility of a giant vehicle at the same time.
I am watching hoping you'll do something cool and I'll get some ideas...lol.

Very glad you are back. So sorry about the RV. Car camping is fun too, We did the entire west coast in a car and tent. Then we moved up to a Ram Promaster Van for the 2 of us. Just left the Seattle area. Be sure and put Salmon La Sac on your bucket list. It is amazing.

@@RVJedeye Oh we love it!! We have already put almost 10,000 miles on it. Best thing we EVER did. The RV now sits hooked up for Bills "man cave". We only use the van. Love boondocking in it. Going EAST in sept.
Salmon La Sac is very nice, but also very rustic. No power, water from hand pumps, pit toilets. But it is a great location to look at the night sky and see all the stars as there is virtually no light pollution.
Sorry to hear about your RV. Glad it's not getting you down. The park is beautiful. How far in advance did you have to make the reservation?

I'm always amazed at the meals other campers make. As long as I have hot water for coffee I'm happy with eating a sleeve of Ritz crackers for dinner and an apple for breakfast. LOL

Pan… a little butter then turn the stove off, it’s already hot and sop up the butter and flavor left over in the pan😉

Hey Dave, when you car camp do you book a tent site or do you have to tell them your using your car ?
I usually book a tent site that I can drive a car to. Some of the systems have asked about camping in your car which surprised me, but I like😊
Getting ready to try car camping myself. Since you have done a few trips; is there any helpful tips as to what to look for on the campsites regarding car camping. Obviously a tent site. Does the campground state whether or not you park at the site or walk-in and will it also state whether or not car camping is allowed? I have looked at some sites in my area and the issues weren't addressed. Thanks!
Anne most of the state and county parks I’ve hit up allow car camping. I get spots that are tent camping spots that you can park a vehicle in so that doesn’t seem to be an issue as long as you find a tent spot. Some places will even put you in an RV spot I just feel bad when I’m there because as an RVer I know how precious those spots can be. Hope it helps😊
It’s time to consider a short wheelbase high roof class “b”. Easy to get around in and can park in a normal parking space. Even though they’re less expensive stay away from the ProMaster, cheaply built, terrible traction issues (ask any delivery man), too little ground clearance… Good luck

Hello David, approximately how much does it cost to camp per night for a pitch? It seems to be around £40 per night where I am in the UK.
Two nights at this spot was $25 per night😊
