Yep! Seattle is some tough driving. I was born there, at Harborview and lived there til 2007 when I moved to Portland, Oregon. I remember when they put in I-5! Crazy to think of it now! Anyway, I really enjoy your videos, and hope to enjoy many more!
I have lived in the suburbs of Chicago for my whole life. Over the years it’s taken longer and longer to escape the traffic if we leave on a Friday. I’m glad you have such a nice rig to hibernate in on the rainy days. When the kids were younger I always researched a plan B of venues in case of rain. Camping is fun, even in the rain!
You just look so chill when you are cooking at camp! I don't carry bear spray, did meet one face to face and it was not interested in me... but make sure to carry tick spray!

I was surprised that you hadn’t yet reached that mark, bec your channel was so good (and you had a beautiful Class C)…cheers to you 🍻 Second, I’ve never ventured too far off the beaten path to ever need Bear Spray, or Wasp Spray, so I don’t know what to say about that stuff! I used to love rainy day camping in my Roadtrek back in the day. I had such a sense of security being outta the elements with my Class B - I would binge watch Star Trek VHS tapes on my VCR (ah, those were the days lol)
This was the kind of weather that makes you glad you have an RV with heat and room to do indoor activities. Have you considered taking your Mom out for a weekend on the water? You’d have to sleep in the “attic” but she might enjoy it.

They irritate skin like poison ivy. The Cougars around here are generally nocturnal so you would not likely see one a day light. The bear around here are black bear and they are mostly out at night until fall when the eat black berries and salmon berries. They usually stick to eating and I give them a big circle circle
I would carry small air horn instead. I've seen videos of people spraying them and wind blows it back on them. Also, I've seen people drop bear spray and shoots off

Come east, so many parks on the dry side of the state to visit, and we have water here, too. You should try out Steamboat Rock state park. There is water, hiking and blue skies. And nearby is Sun-Lakes Dry Falls state park. Plus Grand Coulee Dam is not far away and is an impressive visit.
I could tell you where its beautiful to hike its beautiful people hike there a the time and handglide off the mountain I live on. I have cougars and bears and stuff all the time on the homestead..im so used to it it doesn't even bother me anymore. You just have to carry protection. Rain is typically for the PNW its gets old fast.

If you hear the birds all of a sudden go silent is a very good indication that something is around. Trust me I live on a mountain in bow wash nothing around but the forest and the wildlife you definitely get to know your surroundings when you live the way I do. Been living off grid on the homestead for years I have seen it all. The wildlife here is a daily. Also a good thing to carry is a whistle. If something comes running blow the heck out of that thing. Please don't walk the trails without protection especially if you dont know the area. Also you should always carry water and something to eat and a pocket emergency kit and water proof matches. I teach people about survival and edible plants and stuff Incase something ever happens. I know from watching a few of your videos you have been mostly going to parks but still its a good thing to do even of it's just a park. Take good care stay safe.

Traffic is a problem getting to a lot of places...but even then... you should keep an eye open for cougars 🤔 I'm always looking for the quickest route...my worries are not about kayaking or hiking but the commute.
Google maps will take you all the way around the world and across state lines just to go down the street. I use the trucker’s road atlas to plan my routes to the city I’m going to. Then, I use google maps to take me to my specific destination. The Cougars at the Applebees. Better watch out. 😂
As a newbie FT travel trailer puller, I have learned to look at my route on Google Maps/Directions first on my PC before travel day. I too was sent on side road hell while blindly following Google map directions. I was new to towing and in a different area and just learning to use Google maps. THAT scared me enough to take precautions! I still do not understand the weird directions. I will sometimes pin a fake stop to get the route I want.
Hey David! Another great video... "The force is strong within you!" LOL! Nice County Park and rec area. What fee (if any) did you pay to camp? Always love to see the accessibility-- ramps and handrails to access the pier and boat dock. I know some people argue these structures take away from the nature beauty of the area, but I like the thought/ effort to provide access for different levels of abilities. Thanks!
**Bear spray alternative?** I carry a can of wasp / hornet spray. Bear spray is more expensive. Yup..it's a bigger can, but it shoots 25-30 feet same as bear spray. I keep it in my rv driver's door along with a small but LOUD air horn. Sadly I did have to use the airhorn...once... ON AN OLDER MAN. I had just shopped at Walmart one sunny afternoon and was sitting at the far edge of the lot near a pond in the shade, minding my own business. He came up 3xs to my rv, hanging on my mirror, trying to pull himself up to look inside my rv & insist I take his religious literature. I warned him to go away but the 3rd time he got about 4ft away I blasted it and he fell back on his 🍑. Told him bear spray ( wasp) was next if he didnt go away & that I would call police. They say wasp spray isn't for self defense & doesn't really work, but as an older woman who travels fulltime alone, I feel safer for having it, along with the airhorn. I have also learned to only put my steps out when I actually need to go in & out of the rv. I even pull them in at night in campgrounds after seeing raccoon footprints on them in the morning. If my steps had been down I believe he would have tried to open the door and let himself in. I am going to get another small airhorn for when I am outside to have at hand for animals or other human pests when needed.

bear spray not needed there you may run into a black bear but I never did living there over 15 years and going down trails all over western WA and if you do see one they will run.
Seattle area SUCKS! It is so beautiful there, but you couldn't pay me enough to live there and have to deal with the traffic and all the people. Im living in north central Washington now (originally from SE Washington) and love it.
Man keep bear spray on you all times and remember cougars are above you to the side they usually attack by downward attack so keep spray cap off attacked to wrist band. But I’m snooping now for an RV Widowed in 2021. It’s time to do what you do. I’m just not as confident as you. Do you do join me groups? I carry a spray jell. The jell doesn’t blow back on you in the wind. Can you imagine spraying the bear and you get instead of the bear?
Not only does it not blow back. It sticks, meaning it gets smeared when they try to brush it away.

Disagree.. stay away from all seed “oils.” Go with tallow, butter or praise the lord! Bacon grease. All of these are better for you.

We fry with peanut oil. Saute and grill with good olive oil, not regular off the shelf. Butter is added if or as needed.
Seattle area SUCKS! It is so beautiful there, but you couldn't pay me enough to live there and have to deal with the traffic and all the people. Im living in north central Washington now (originally from SE Washington) and love it.
I get it, but for me right now it’s home and I just have to get better getting out of town😁

@@RVJedeyeWhidbey is lovely. I grew up over there. It tends to experience a rain shadow effect and gets less rain than the mainland. Avoid weekends, plan well with the ferries, or drive around over Deception Pass. Gorgeous up there! I’m enjoying your adventures.
