Wastefuldragon If that is the one where you and your squad are thought dead, but come back as the black "ghost" squadron or whatever, I remember peeing my pants at how epic I felt in that game. But if that's not the one you're talking about, I still really enjoyed it. lol
You gotta try it. GameStop has it for under $20. I don't care too much for the missions being individually long but it holds a certain intensity about it. Multiplayer will frustrate you a bit while getting yourself used to it since most are already highly skilled due to the games age.
"The monotony of shooting little green squares in the distance." In the old Ace Combats, you actually would use your gun half the time. And there was a little bit of challenge in it too.
OMG i cant believe i have found this comment YOU ARE SO RIGHT, this game sucks, all the fun was to get behind an enemy and dfm ruins it, Assault Horizont is all about explosions, in air combat you allies dont do shit, and the enemy planes ignore them, its always the same, you getting 9 misiles and 3 planes in your tale, the enemy planes turning 180 degrees in 2 meters... The unsung war was incredible...totally agree
I agree although ace combat zero is a pretty close second in my book and horizons should have never been made like this it always felt like it was on rails to me
Its to hard for me to pick between Ace combat 5 or 6 the were both just so amazing. Now though they are terrible at least if the future ones are anything like Assault Horizon.
Ace combat 7 did amazing as well, but it was more oriented on story, and campaign mode rather than the smaller details and multiplayer, but definitely meant to bring in some support from the players of the older games.
"You get to see the planes up close. You almost never get to see that in a plane simulator". That's because modern jet simulators try and simulate actual air combat (which basically means firing air-to-air missiles at targets a long way away). This is a great fun game but in no way at all can it be considered a flight simulator. It's an action air combat game :)
+redcardinalist You sounded like those annoying children who think they know it all. "Hey there, Charlie! Oh, the stars are out, look at that star over there! - ACTUALLY THAT'S NOT A STAR, THAT'S SATURN. SATURN HAS RINGS AND OVER 60 MOONS ...".
+Stivsh He's still correct, and it's important to make the distinction. I love ace combat, but chasing a mouse cursor around the screen is not simulating air combat.
+redcardinalist Planes run out of missiles. It is why even today, fighter jets have a gun. Our kill ratio dropped in Vietnam after they made F-4 Phantoms without guns. They then started building them with gens again and our kill ratio went up. This fact was covered in the movie Top Gun, and was one of the few things in Top Gun that was accurate. It is why the actual Navy Fighter Weapons School (aka Top Gun) was created, and what the movie was based off of.
+Gary Phelps they do run out of missiles and rockets but in this day ,and age do you think one of our pilots could survive long enough .And that was vietnam we have far more powerful anti air defenses and even if they last that long they're going have to get pretty lucky and with all the rockets being fired at them it just not realistic
To all ye veteran/old Ace Combat fans, as its own game (Joe even says don't expect this to be the next Ace Combat game), without the Ace Combat title with it, just called Assault Horizon, how would this game still hold up? To me, it's a fun arcade flight sim, and maybe if it was its own game, it wouldn't get so much hate.
Dear Joe, Years ago when I was interested in aerial combat game, this video convinced me that this game is really good. I was really hyped about it until I realized the existence of older Ace Combat. And let me tell you several stuff from the standpoint of a newcomer in the series who finally get to play this one and the old-style one. One, DFM does bring the action closer. But this brings the dilemma against the supposedly more maneuverable enemies since it's either going to be too easy to kill them or just drags you around the map like a rabid squirrel. Also, older Ace Combat doesn't really have long engagement range too, not to mention there's more target to go in a single mission in older games, fighting close range is basically what you will do every single time, you'll get a hang of BFM(Basic Fighter Maneuver) and eventually you can pull "DFM" yourself against enemy AI, and Ace Combat AIs are damn good at dogfighting, they don't just fly around in circles and you can't beat them by flying around in circles. Each maneuver is carefully selected and feels like a dance instead of being pulled by a leashed rabid dog. Two, god the story here is WAY more awful than older Ace Combat. Like seriously. Three, while the song is here is good, the older ones are... It's hard to explain. You can get 80's style TopGun like song, or orchestra, or even flamenco. It's more diverse and have more character. Granted this is the area where ACAH is not bad at, it's just not up to the level of the old one. ACAH maybe is a good game(the game is barely playable for me, DFM shakes so bad and just drag me everywhere I don't want to go to.) But I can tell you older Ace Combat is WAAAAAAAY beyond this. You can have a little taste of that in Ace Combat Infinity which uses ACAH game engine but plays more like the old one. It's a BLAST and it's free to play too. Sincerely, an Ace Combat fan EDIT: This post was made before the shutdown of Ace Combat Infinity, Ace Combat Infinity is already dead now. No worries since Ace Combat 7 is coming.... Soon™
Good comment man. I only played Hawx 1 as my only Flying Jet Combat game and reviews said this one is better so I came to watch a video. Related Question: do you know if playing games like this will help me get better at flying a jet in Online Mode in GTA ONLINE? Because I Love playing that game and fighting other real players in Jets. Ariel Dog fights are very intense in GTA because of the walking on foot element of needing to obtain your Jet and Fly it to the enemy in an open world multiplayer. Any techniques you know? Or what's your all time ever favorite jet flying game and do you use a Flight Joystick or just a normal controller?
@@TheDissident this is simply objectively wrong, but speak for yourself man. I like AH, but I think "from those who brought you Ace Combat comes: Assault Horizon" would fit better than "Ace Combat: Assault Horizon". I look at it like DS2. You'll be disappointed if you go into this expecting the story of 5, the gameplay of Zero, or the fluidity of 4, but if you take it as this unique Call of Duty/Battlefield story from the air it's a lot of fun. Overall, this is the Dark Souls 2 of the Ace Combat series. Inventive, unique, brash even, but enough of a departure from the originals that you should absolutely try those too. Edit: typo
Razgriz, launch! I prefer Zero for the gameplay but the story of 3 and 5 are unbeatable (3 considering the JP version so 5 wins because we didnt have it T___T)
Yes it's an outstanding game....if you can put up with the team killing, ramming, enemy gang bang, and lousy matchmaking.....but seriously an outstanding game.
I loved ace combat 5....fitting out my whole squad with matching top-tier jets, the original squad leader going down, chopper's death, finally unlocking the laser-firing jet....good times. Ace combat Zero was hella fun too.... the final dogfight with pixy got my heart pumping!
This game actually got me into the Ace Combat series. Of course I had to do so studying from the previous games, but I quickly got hooked. Lemme say this though, it blew my mind that they used this game and made a Sim Pod arcade game out it. They didn't use the same name, but I was pretty damn sure that it was AC:AH.
He obviously never played the other ACs... if he had, he would have called this game shit just like everyone else. Oh, and it wouldn't even have been a bad game, if it was only called "Assault Horizon" without the Ace Combat title.
its just something new to the flying games genre. i have played previous Ace combat games and my favorite was Zero, but i also liked Assault Horizon. although due to the tighter turning its nearly impossible to shoot someone down without DFM, and everyone flies F-22s
For ace combat fans, after ace combat infinity, does anyone think that we could get back to classic ace combat? You know, back to stangreal, maybe bring back the old themes and storylines? Now all we got was a military shoot em up multiplayer, and a farmville type "free to play", I'm a bit worried that the series is coming to an end
It basically is ended. Namco said that they will only make another ace combat if Infinity does good. However, a lot of people are unhappy with infinity. By making AH and then going back on it completely they have split the fan base too much.
Whats sad is that the writer responsible for Assault Horizon had plans for a story set within Strangreal, and it sounded like he was looking forward to it too.
SPECTER6690 Yeah, I think it was a bit of a bad time to experiment here, especially in these cases. If we can't hope for a sequel, they can at least try to fix what already is, because in the current state, infinity seems to actively discourage gameplay itself along with basic communication (I can't even type my own messages!?), something that will really cause any new players to lose interest in the series.
Robert Cline As a player introduced to Ace Combat through Infinity, i can say that the game in no way makes new players lose interest. I became of fan of the series through infinity because i loved the gameplay. The only thing that would ever drive away new players is the stocked fuel system but even then they are usually feed new players with fuel because of the many tutorial missions and events you can do and you can even get fuel as drops if you and your team do particularly well in a mission. This keeps players who seem to have even an interest hooked . Infinity is by no means a bad game and i feel as though its not getting enough credit where credit is due (pun intended). If anything you are getting more people to become fans because there is no risk to trying out the genre because its free and if they like it, they'll stay for more games to come.
Ateh Ibemsi ah, how interesting, but what I'm referring to here is that there are a couple things here that restrict the gameplay a bit too much. By now, you may be familiar with the fuel system. It's ridiculous, right now, they give you 3 fuel to pay a maximum of 3 10-minute missions. Use that up, and you'll have to wait about 12 hours to resupply before you can do it again. Sure, you can do challenges to restock, but after you get passed the first challenges, you'll burn through your earnings pretty fast before you have to wait for new (now harder) challenges that will provide you with the same reward. Personally, if they're gonna go this route, I would set it so that you could have store at least 5 free fuel where you'd have to wait 2 hours to resupply, or at least have challenges/milestones that extend the supply limit, or shorten the time to resupply fuel down to a certain point. Also, for those who just want to buy pay time, I suggest there be a way to buy unlimited fuel, because apparently, infinity doesn't allow you to buy infinite gameplay. By the way, just wanted to ask, has this game gotten you interested in the rest of the games in the series?
Namco should remake AC3 into HD. DFM doesn't feel like playing a flight game, but rather a FPS on planes with aimbot or in fact: noob mode. I just read the article for it on the acecombat wikia. They ditched the AC universe and gave them real world examples.. What happened to the UPEO? SARF, NEU? its now america, russian blabla. In other words, AC:AH is just a generic flight game, which has nothing to do with AC except the name. Call of Duty on planes, as simple as that. Someone should donate Joe a copy of AC3.
I played every Ace Combat, even when it was Air Combat on the ps1, except for Fires Of Liberation. But I got to say, I really couldn't say this game gave me the AC feeling it was supposed to give me. First, the setting is not the great world full of lore like AC used to have. Second, the story is so cliché and done before (no spoilers, but see for yourself what I mean). Third the over the top combat and weapons, where AC is known for, are gone. Fourth, DFM, at first it gave me a fresh feeling but like Joe says, the scripted moments gave me a wow effect but also like WTF. You shoot almost all your missiles at the butt of the boss you try to gun down, it feels like they are gods. But it's not a bad game. The graphics, sounds and music are typical AC. I got to say the best soundtracks in games are to me those of Ace Combat, every game had his own unique set and you felt like a boss fighting with this soundtrack in the background. This game is, to the series, unique in it's own way. But I think it's good for people who never played the games. To me AC Zero: The Belkan War was the utmost best of the series and really gave me the badass feeling. Regrettably these games are on ps1,ps2 and psp, ofcourse Fires Of Liberation on Xbox 360. If they would ever make a collection of them that would be great. These games are a dying breed. But anyway this game is simple, you love it or you hate it.
I did and except for the gameplay we used to have, it's rubbish, matches are way to short, it costs you to much creds to play the stroyline and please micro transactions... sorry Namco but I expected more of you. Better they made this game like the originals it would be a hell lot more pleasing.
SOAPY 48 So true I would have gladly played $60 dollars for full finished Ace Combat rather than this Pay-2-Play cliffhanger ending BS. Although, I do appreciate the free DLC's. :)
After being an Ace Combat veteran for so long, I decided to give this game a chance when it came out. I played it on Elite difficulty and it wasn't too bad. But when I tried it on Ace difficulty yeah it kicked my ass and hurt my ego not because of the flight skills required but because of the stupid DFM mode. It was something that I had to master quickly and the skills that I used to have in the previous ace combat games seemed to go by the wasteland. The game isn't as great as I hoped it would be.
Dogfight Mode. It's basically activated when you press LB and RB together (if you have a PS3 its R1 and L1) and a large circle appears. It allows you to see the fighter jets up close and when you take them down, there is a small cut-scene of them blowing up to smithereens. The only problem with it is that it takes away the flight skills required for other flying games. If you want to try out an ace combat game go with AC6 or any of the PS2 ones. They are more fun and they actually improve your flight skills.
+Megalodon64 So because you refuse to learn and adapt the game is trash? Perhaps you should stick to Call of Duty so you never have to learn a new game. People like you are the reason why there is no innovation in gaming anymore.
i loved fires of liberation, it was fun, amazing graphics by the time (even to date), but i also loved assault horizon, as you say, you get to use the guns a lot, is more action oriented history, unlike the novel type in the 6th. both games are amazing, but as joe says, they are different animals.
asaeampan of course i did, but maybe is just me, because i love military fighter jets, and i like realistic flight sims but also arcade ones. but i must say, the one i liked the most is the Fires of liberation, i liked the story and the cinematics, and the jet rooster.
well i must say, i liked AH but i didnt played it as long as the others, AH is a pack of action, but last few hours. i played the others for months, but AH for like a week, and done with it
in the aspect of story, the original series is far better, there your right, but the DFM is a heck of fun. I want the next ace combat game set in the strangereal world with the DFM. and ace combat is the BEST DEAM BANDAI franchise and flight "simulator" ever
Yes! The AC5 gameplay is much more fair and the controls as well as the game mechanics work absolutely perfect. The DFM mode in Assault Horizon makes the game very repetitive since you have to use dogfight mode on almost every enemy target. Plus in previous Ace Combat games you can go through the stage in anyway you please. In Assault Horizon though, you have to go through it exactly how they tell you.
I wrote a review for my small town magazine where I maintained that it was a good game with things to bring to its own kind of experience, however due to its name it had to be compared to the other Ace Combat games and that's where it fell short. This is Assault Horizon, but this is not Ace Combat.
I gotta say I disagree joe. Particularly about the dfm. IMO, dfm was more distracting and actually took me out of the game. It felt jarring whenever it happened and I ended up trying my best to avoid it. I can understand why the devs tried it. They were trying to add something new to their established gameplay formula and trying to make it appeal to more fast-paced, action oriented players. However, the previous games didn’t have this and they were all great. I can appreciate them for trying but for those of us who played the previous games (or at least, me in particular) it was mostly an unwelcome change that really seemed to take away control. Also, in regards to what you said about shooting at far away dots and chasing each other in circles. . . Well, yes and no. The former games were meant to, more or less, accurately portray real modern air combat. Most conflicts take place further away. When it comes to the circling: I only ever felt that way on the easier difficulties. On the harder difficulties, I absolutely had try more varied tactics to outmaneuver my opposition. Especially when I was outnumbered. In any case, I understand that you never played the previous games before this. I highly recommend that you go and try them out if you want to get more insight as to why they’re so beloved and to why this one gets such a bad rap. My personal favorite is Ace Combat Zero: The Belken War.
That "annoying" dance with the enemy ace is a good thing precisely because of the elements that are criticized in this video. Hope They come out with a more traditional AC sometime.
Ace Combat: On Rails Shooter. Come on, my favourite memories from AC:4 was twisting my way around and through Megalith on the final mission. All AH was was fancy graphics and a dumbass story. NAMCO, GIVE US AN ACE COMBAT HD COLLECTION ON PS4/XBONE!
ValtonGamers If your talking about the DFM it's not on-rails really. As he said you still have control of your plane and if you don't stay locked on and banking with the enemy plane you're gonna lose DFM and he'll pull a counter-manuever on you (on higher difficulties). This is set in the real world (Which was a nice change for me) so there's none of that in this game however it's a fun game regardless. You can unlock the sharks plane which I thought was cool so there's a lot to like. Also aren't the re-makes for anniversary releases?
Oh please, stop acting like scripted events weren't present in previous Ace Combats. If they weren't, how come you can't save Chopper in "The Journey Home"? Or how you couldn't shoot down Hamilton because he was SCRIPTED to follow you into the tunnels and get killed by a collision? What about those poor rookies who are SCRIPTED to get killed by Scinfaxi burst missiles?
At least *every individual dogfight* wasn't scripted. In AH, you can barely kill five planes before running into another scripted section, which doesn't even serve any narrative or emotional purpose beyond giving you a pretty, scenic view for a few seconds.
This game was actually fun, But AC Zero is still the best in my opinion. DFM just made it fun but too easy (also scripted DFM is annoying) the turret sections... well its stupid helicopter missions were a bit meh
I was fan since the phenomenal Ace Combat 3 on PS1, the PS2 titles rocked too, I was not disappointed by Assault Horizon but I felt something was lost in the transition to this generation.
"The Demon of Razgriz" (the Demon from the North Sea) When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself ,first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land ,and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light. Amidst the eternal waves of time From a ripple of change shall the storm rise Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath The demon soars through the dark skies Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain As the demon sleeps, man turns on man. Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth. From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz. The Demon of the world of Fairytales The Demon from the North Sea"
what makes this game good for people that have never played ace combat before is what makes it terrible for those of us who have played a REAL ace combat before. disappointed with this game
I am a huge Ace Combat fan since Ace Combat 2 and I adore this game. The only Ace Combat game that is total shit is 3, all the other ones are incredible.

''Amidst the blue skies, a link from past to future. The sheltering wings of the protector... The flames of hatred scorch the skies, igniting Gaia's funeral pyre...''
Well for me Ace Combat 4 is a winner, don't really know but the fact that you never even hear your own voice just adds mystery and intrige to the game which I really liked. Also the constant in game jokes such as teammates yelling Radio Failure! Through the radio.
virgilio moncada It was one of the few Modern Aircraft flight sims that do it great, and it's story told in pictures is amazingly told, along with that because you never hear yourself, you feel like YOUR the badass that the entire opposing air force has nightmares about, YOUR the one that won the war for your country. You stopped the superweapon, so on and so forth.
DFM felt like the game was taking away the actual dogfight from me, and expecting me to be satisfied with dramatic visuals and a glorified yet dumbed down set of mechanics where I felt more than ever like I was just pushing button instead of executing actual maneuvers. That's not to say it wasn't without fun, but it got old fast when the game forced its use upon the player... and that's not even addressing the helicopter segments and their ridiculous scripted dodging mechanics.
Assault Horizon is kinda fun. But it just ain't an Ace Combat game. Also, outperformed? Joe, a real AC player can cherry tap PIxy riding a Tomcat in Ace. By the by, if you suffer from the "going around flying in circles nonstop" problem in the middle of a dogfight... you've got brakes, use them you fool.
I'm an old player and a huge fan over the years. I have played and beat nearly ALL ace combat games. I love the ridiculous final bosses, nuclear explosions, rail guns, satellite destruction, insane fighter jets with on-board super weapons, Yellow Squadron and then B7R The Round Table. This one is AMAZING and intense! I bought it a few days ago and am NOT disappointed yet. It seemingly did away with the crazy super weapons. Haven't beaten it yet.. NO ONE SPOIL IT FOR ME! Love the game overall.
Ace combat has this unique sense of intensity that most fighter pilot games. Shattered skies had some of the best balance of story telling and game play of the series.
One thing that surprised me was that the f35 could out perform and out turn the su 35, even though the su 35 is far superior in dog fights and can fly circles around the f 35
***** because its a american game how could you actually think a "Russian jet" could out perform a "modern american jet" i know it would in real life but its an american game sooo, lol
I actually downloaded and tried out this game just recently just because I really enjoyed playing Ace Combat 2 on my emulator. It's by no means a bad game, it's pretty well-made actually and it can be really fun a times, though also VERY frustrating, especially with those annoying cut-aways and some really arbitrary time limits. I'd give it a solid 6.5/10, but the DLC is absurdly overpriced and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so make it a 5.5.
+Friendly yoyo Bingo. This game introduced me to AC, and I think that's how it's intended to be enjoyed; if this is the worst game in the series, and it's _this_ fun, the other games must be masterpieces, and they are.
Honestly, I liked the overall concept of DFM, with the idea of tossing you right in there and letting you see the damage up close, but at the same time, I felt it was very resritctive and rails-y.
ace combat 6 was a bit meh. Too much talk of angels, not fond of the character development, and it was literally Air to Ground Combat 2.0 now including extra missile smoke that will make you hit a Mountain.
As a pilot, I can say with certainty that this was one of the worst flight simulator/fighter games ever. I've never managed to feel like I'm on a rail shooter without really being on one.
This Acecombat dosen't even follow the Acecombat cannon. It uses real world places and countries when AC zero, AC4, AC 5 and AC6 all use Strangereal witch is the made up map for AC. they don't mention Osea, Yuktobania, Anea, Usea, Belka etc...
As someone who played every ace combat before this one, I have to say my main issue with this game is not DFM (well I do hate it but only because it's forced rather than just a cool new alternative) but with the fact this game is in the boring, shity real world rather than in......you know.....THE COOL UNIVERSE YOU SPENT EVERY PAST GAME BUILDING?! The only theory I have for why in the mother of fuck they would throw strangereal away like that is because of how close the timeline was getting to finally returning to ace combat 3's time period. For anyone who played the original, Not horribly gutted JP version of that game there was quite an.....um.....interesting story there that I have been wanting to see a sequel to for awhile now (In addition to a translation or remake of 3 so I don't have to read external sources just to know wtf was going on.) But unfortunately they probably never will because from what I heard the japanese fanbase hated AC3 and liked 2 alot better. My theory here is that because they were about to have no other choice but to make a sequal to 3 they chickened out and are now trying to burn the universe they created instead.....such a shame, 3 would have easily been my favorite instead of 5 if they haden half assed the us version and taken out pretty much the entire plot and branching paths.
They need to remake the series for next gen consoles (both, because no one deserves to be screwed out of these games) DFM could be improved a lot if it was only done on aces or was a once a mission "easy kill" sort of deal. Should they also add a multiplayer (I think a B7R last man standing thing would be cool to add, just as a extra thought), have servers that allow DFM, and servers that don't.
I've played some of the earlier AC as far back as electrosphere (number 3), I love the franchise but I gotta say I disagree with most other fans, I think DFM really adds something, the action becomes more intense and fast-paced, you see more planes close-up. I think it was a good way to appeal to a wider audience with more action, most flight sims are an acquired taste I think because you have to be patient a lot and not everyone's used to a game that takes place entirely in three dimensions, it's very different to fps stuff so I think DFM made it more accesible.
Honestly I liked the levels in AC:AH with the exception of the helicopter missions and the AC-130 mission(didn't buy it for $60 for that). What pissed me off the most wasn't the DFM although it got annoying as hell after the first 2 missions. It was the fact that whenever you're fighting the Russian Ace(didn't give shit #1 about him) it wasn't about using the skills you've gathered throughout the game but instead it became a contest of seeing who can break the laws of physics better than the other. The Cobra maneuver(along with the other ones in the game) isn't really a viable option in an arial battle, you lose all the energy built up and it take seconds to build it back up...most dogfights last less than 20 seconds. In other words, the idiot who pulled that stunt is either dead or pulling the ejection lever. Arcade or not this is ridiculous. Ace Combat Assult Horizon? Please more like Ace Combat Breaking Physics. Don't even get me started on the final mission, actual flying 30%, following a scripted path of breaking physics and an indestructible plane 70%. Alright that's my rant for the week, I'm done.
Excellent game. I'd say many fans of this game have too high expectations. Its an arcade fighter game and it succeeds in what it sets out to do. People saying this game sucks is just ignorant.
Ace combat fans aren't really mad because the game itself is bad. It's more that at this point Project Aces had proven themselves capable of so much better with the previous games in the series, in particular the PS2 games
Hey Joe! You should play "ACE COMBAT 7 SKIES UNKNOWN" when the game comes out on January 18. Get the game when it gets release. Beat the game and do a review about it. us and the fans will like to see you do a reviews about the game. Thanks! :D
Don't you just love fanboys? They always complain no matter what. Whether they get something new or experimental they complain, and if they get another copy/paste they complain. I'm pretty sure if they took off their rose-tinted glasses they'd see that the old Ace Combat games are pretty boring and repetitive.
Stephen Shoap DFM turned the game into more or less an on-rails shooter. The entire architecture was designed to force the player to use it for those scripted events. Not only that, but the story was just derivative, REALLY copy-and-paste, and just poor all around. One of the strongest elements of the AC series was actually its story. AC4 was beautiful in its soft-spoken, underhanded narrative and the form of its delivery only made it better. AC5 was an awesome, soaring epic with characters whose voices, faces, and personalities I remember clear as day even a decade later. AC Zero again had an interesting, unusual approach to telling its story. And as far as the gameplay goes, I like having freedom of movement. I like it when my enemy tries on his own to get on my tail by performing the maneuvers that would get him there instead of us reaching some scripted point where he magically teleports behind me if I don't complete a QTE. The whole point of the AC games was the grace and elegance of dogfighting. Everything about the series up until Assault Horizon was distinctly anti-war, and focused on the characters and how the war changed them and the civilians on the ground. AH was just Michael Bay, Call of Duty, MURICA FUCK YEAH bullshit. It was really, truly terrible compared to all of the games before it.
WHAT?! We never complained for another copy/paste.Hell us fans much prefer to have a HD collection than this sadness. The Ace Combat games were loved for their storytelling and characters. Here its just COD in the skies. Not to mention the absolute blandness that is Bishop and Markov.
It's not a bad game. It just doesn't feel as good as its predecessors. I like it, but in my opinion DFM was excessively scripted, and the storyline is terrible compared to the predecessors.
I absolutely loved the old Ace Combat games. I wanted to love this one, too. Bought it on release, played it a bit, hated it. I dusted it off and gave it a second try now, years later. Yep, hate it. The flight control and combat system they put in here are soooo annoying, they destroy the game.
It's not that bad it's meant to break up the long range stuff and introduce new players to the series. I played AC 0 and it was soooooo repetitive really u should try something new
+Stealthy Death 101 He obviously did since he bought and played AH. I have and played it as well. I hate it. It isn't a bad game, it just isn't ace combat.
2:29 Um, a question for any pilot or aeronautical engineer, but would that pilot flying out of the damaged aircraft be dead already by a strong blow to the head due to the explosion, or still conscious to be flying out of the cockpit? Just a fellow aviation fan asking.
Depends on the distance from the aircraft. If its close, its more of a chance of death by fire explosion or aircraft debris. If further, he could live, but if his body can avoid the incoming aircraft bullets, aircraft itself, or exaust blow.
For me Joe gets one thing wrong. In this game i did not feel like the ace i was supposed to be. there was no one calling me "demon lord",no chatter about how tanks became metal coffin while i was there and no fear and respect around my name from both enemies and allies. In other AC games you felt almost like a mythical creature. And as cool as DFM can be in small doses, it's not half as cool as bringing down giant airbourne fortresses or flying through tunnels to destroy nuclear missiles or assaulting giant superweapons. And Markov is no Yellow 13 or pixy or Pasternak. AH is not a bad game by any means, but it lacks the magic that allows me to turn on my ps2 even to this day and still feel awesome. Joe you should reeeeeally play AC4,5,0 and 6. they are in my humble opinion masterpieces
its not based on alternate worlds like the previous ones. its more realistic in the sense its american and its allies vs russian forces dont really think they would say anything like that
yeah i know, and if someone prefer it this way there's really nothing wrong, personally i prefer the older ones set in strangereal, especially for the story, tough i think that the other AC are superior gameplay-wise too (especially 6) i'm curious to find out how the hybrid storyline from infinity is gonna turn out
I really wish the new AC games played more like the older ones... All I want is a simplified combat flight sim with a cool story and sci-fi elements, which the older games provided beautifully... It also sucks that I can't use my very expensive joystick for games like Assault Horizon, all because they had to put in the dogfighting mode.
I just played this game... The DFM was lame... Forcing me to use that crap over and over again. The camera angle is too close to plane... The story was boring at best. AC6 was so much better. Useless freaking AI. "We'll cover you while attack the ground targets." Bull crap. I had 3/4 of the enemies chasing while I was supposed to take down ground targets.
Ya im in agreement where the mechanics where awesome with graphics but you were forced into DFM just to take on target leaders and bosses you couldnt stay out of it without loosing. fun game but also boring.
Torente32 Yeah. Just played co-op with friend and thought that the DFM should be called Lazy F*cker Mode cause at some point I got pretty lazy chasing down the enemy when I realised it was just too much effort and worse when after firing a few missiles I find out I was supposed to engage DFM... I guess I would have had a higher impression of it had I not played AC6 first - I just rewatched the 3rd trailer for AC6 and oh the feels come back...
Yukishiro Honoka Ya its retarded that your forced into LFM jsut to take out some target, now if it were a boss sure it'll be fun going through some in game cinema but going into DFM over an over jsut wears you out. I miss the ace combat style i played on the psp forget which one but you could customize your performance on all yoru planes. I like that plus creating your own paint job which this game provides.
AC5 was my favorite. It had the most planes, and the best story. However, AC 6 does have the high-G turns, and the Norstafue's weapons. I don't like how the new AC games take place on Earth instead of Strangereal.
Jason Dendy I did not know about the Strangereal thing... But yeah, putting it on Earth makes the storyline very boring. I'm not sure about others but what I liked about AC6 was the way it was directed allowed me to really feel like I'm the pilot. All the emotions I just kept flowing in...
DFS? what happened to timing missle shots? now its just spiting bullets everywhere. hold on guys, I think this is a DFS review. I know you want an unbias opinion, but Ace Combat is one of those series where you HAVE to play the old ones. you know, with Mobius 1 and everything, this just seems kind of, well, meh. and the music may be kinda "epic" if I want an epic soundtrack, I listen to Ace Combat 4 or Team Fortress 2, you know why? because it builds pressure, it makes you want to play the game, it gets you hyped up. and to God I pray, that this is NOT the future of all Ace Combat games. -T.R.P. Over and Out.
I just didnt like how you couldnt shoot shit unless you did the 'lock on and follow the enemy through obsolesces' mode. If you shot them normally they would be immune to damage, Forcing you to use it.
+Voss2120 Not really, if that happens to you a lot on every enemy, then you just suck. However I really hate it that the game needs you to do the DFM to advance the mission. Game is still good, but not a great ace combat game. I get the feeling they did this as a way to get COD fans into ace combat and to compete against HAWX
This along with Ace Combat 3 is one of my favorite ACs. The soundtrack is amazing and the DFM was a good welcome. It broke the repetitiveness of the old ACs...
+Larry Belenossi Assault Horizon would've been a better game if and only if they removed "Ace Combat" from the title. It's a decent game, but it is NOT an Ace Combat
+Andrew Rogers Not alot of people outside Japan played the "real" Ace Combat 3. The export version is a watered down version of the japanese version, which Japan for some reason didn't enjoy as much as Ace Combat 2.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was one of the best flight-simulator games I've ever played!!!! I'm just left with the realization that I'll will never to play it no more 😢
Joe, if you've never played any other ace combat, ID severely recommend Ace Combat 6:Fires of Liberation. The story in it will tear at your heart a bit. Some of the speaches will give you chills too.
Ace Combat 5: the unsung war was epic
Wastefuldragon How did you pass escorting that GD helicopter?
Rev It try and try agian.
Mike Mac Not working. After clearing the first wave of enemies, the second only seem to target the chopper & none else.
Rev It do you use the special weapons that target multiple planes?
Wastefuldragon If that is the one where you and your squad are thought dead, but come back as the black "ghost" squadron or whatever, I remember peeing my pants at how epic I felt in that game. But if that's not the one you're talking about, I still really enjoyed it. lol
Can we all just agree that the Ace Combat franchise has some of the best soundtracks ever? I love the Zero and AH soundtracks.
Rodney 2x4 You heard the 04 soundtrack? Best. Thing. Ever.
Yat Nami Just did. It is indeed awesome.

You gotta try it. GameStop has it for under $20. I don't care too much for the missions being individually long but it holds a certain intensity about it. Multiplayer will frustrate you a bit while getting yourself used to it since most are already highly skilled due to the games age.
DimSum9685 but is the multiplayer still populated?
This was the call of duty of airplanes..
Pretty much but it was a good one

I still like it because of the metal carnage and soundtrack, still love the originals more

Did he just call this a flight simulator?
OutLawOwl but it's not
It actually is. It is in the Action and Combat Flight Simulator genres.
Lokiallen action combat sure, but there is nothing simulator about it though which is why that's strange to me.
Not sure what to tell you then. It certainly doesn't act like a flight simulator, but it's classified as such...
Lokiallen ...only by those who never tried actual simulator.

Best Ace Combat for me was Ace Combat 5 The Unsung War, THAT WAS the BEST ONE in my opinion
I agree although ace combat zero is a pretty close second in my book and horizons should have never been made like this it always felt like it was on rails to me
i totally agree
Its to hard for me to pick between Ace combat 5 or 6 the were both just so amazing. Now though they are terrible at least if the future ones are anything like Assault Horizon.
I hope they are not
Ace combat 7 did amazing as well, but it was more oriented on story, and campaign mode rather than the smaller details and multiplayer, but definitely meant to bring in some support from the players of the older games.
+redcardinalist yeah, A.H is a arcade type game =)
Dear Joe,
Years ago when I was interested in aerial combat game, this video convinced me that this game is really good.
Sincerely, an Ace Combat fan
EDIT: This post was made before the shutdown of Ace Combat Infinity, Ace Combat Infinity is already dead now.
"older Ace Combat is WAAAAAAAY beyond this."
Opinion invalid, sorry.
Edit: typo
Ace Combat 5. Enough Said
Razgriz, launch!

Hahaha that intro "This is your flight simulator...this is your flight simulator...on drugs"

This review introduced me to the Ace Combat series and this is my favourite out of the whole series
"Everyone Else"
You speak for us now?
Patrick Sewell Doesn't speak for me.
There are a lot of people who like the game. We just get shouted down for liking it. Apparently we are not "true" fans.
I wonder if he's even played Joint Assault?..... :D
One little point: Ace Combat is not a simulator. It is a game. There is a difference.
SPECTER6690
Yeah, I think it was a bit of a bad time to experiment here, especially in these cases.

Remaster AC4-6 first. THEN make something new.
***** well not all of us have reserves of $200 dollars
asaeampan am telling you they added the ideas from the ace combat 3 series, even the flight and fight mode in this new f2p game
Agreed. Have you played Ace Combat Infinity?
I did and except for the gameplay we used to have, it's rubbish, matches are way to short, it costs you to much creds to play the stroyline and please micro transactions... sorry Namco but I expected more of you. Better they made this game like the originals it would be a hell lot more pleasing.
SOAPY 48 So true I would have gladly played $60 dollars for full finished Ace Combat rather than this Pay-2-Play cliffhanger ending BS. Although, I do appreciate the free DLC's. :)
Yeah well that's true, but hey Ace Combat is a kickass series, so just keep it alive.
SOAPY 48 True that we can't let the series die like this.
Megalodon64 At least you're not circling another enemy endlessly for 10 minutes to get owned by another person coming out of nowhere.
Megalodon64 I think this game is more for the casual players.
EqDF Yoshi never happened to me, and I rarely used DFM. Taking risks is always a huge thing, and knowing your plane inside and out went a long way.
+Megalodon64 So because you refuse to learn and adapt the game is trash? Perhaps you should stick to Call of Duty so you never have to learn a new game. People like you are the reason why there is no innovation in gaming anymore.
ANGRY JOE...YOU..HAVE TO..REVIEW ACE COMBAT INFINITY!
ace combat 5 and 6 was better.... but i did get to use my guns more in this game
i loved fires of liberation, it was fun, amazing graphics by the time (even to date), but i also loved assault horizon, as you say, you get to use the guns a lot, is more action oriented history, unlike the novel type in the 6th. both games are amazing, but as joe says, they are different animals.
asaeampan of course i did, but maybe is just me, because i love military fighter jets, and i like realistic flight sims but also arcade ones. but i must say, the one i liked the most is the Fires of liberation, i liked the story and the cinematics, and the jet rooster.
well i must say, i liked AH but i didnt played it as long as the others, AH is a pack of action, but last few hours. i played the others for months, but AH for like a week, and done with it
in the aspect of story, the original series is far better, there your right, but the DFM is a heck of fun.
I want the next ace combat game set in the strangereal world with the DFM.
and ace combat is the BEST DEAM BANDAI franchise and flight "simulator" ever
asaeampan thats sad. I liked it. but thanks for telling. I hope at least the NEXT AC game (after infinity) takes place once again in strangereal.
Funny thing is, when you get used to the game you actually use all of the HUD.
Anybody miss Ace Combat 5 Ace difficulty With Realistic controls?
assault horizon does have the ace difficulty and you unlock it by completing the elit diff (as in the other ace combat games)
Megalodon64 unfortunately
Ace Combat: The Belkan War is easily my favourite. The soundtrack out of any one of the games is amazing!
NZdude Really loved AC5 soundtrack the most.
That "annoying" dance with the enemy ace is a good thing precisely because of the elements that are criticized in this video. Hope They come out with a more traditional AC sometime.
Look up Ace Combat Infinity
thanks.
Mobius 1 masterrace
ValtonGamers If your talking about the DFM it's not on-rails really. As he said you still have control of your plane and if you don't stay locked on and banking with the enemy plane you're gonna lose DFM and he'll pull a counter-manuever on you (on higher difficulties).
This is set in the real world (Which was a nice change for me) so there's none of that in this game however it's a fun game regardless. You can unlock the sharks plane which I thought was cool so there's a lot to like. Also aren't the re-makes for anniversary releases?
knightace2002 On the highest difficulty, I put my controller down, and stayed in DFM. That's what I call on-rails.
ValtonGamers Did you turn flight assist off? Also you still have control of it.
knightace2002 Who the hell plays with flight assist? Yeah, you have control, but you don't have to control to stay behind the other fighters in DFM.
Actually, *EVERY* flying game that follows some story or historical event is heavily scripted.
But you just dont simply scripted the FUCKING FINAL BOSS amirite?
You can totally shoot down Hamilton before going into the tunnels.
At least *every individual dogfight* wasn't scripted. In AH, you can barely kill five planes before running into another scripted section, which doesn't even serve any narrative or emotional purpose beyond giving you a pretty, scenic view for a few seconds.
@@JaelinBezel and he reappears again after you went to the tunnel
I love how they have it kind of chaotic and like you can have an experience as if it was real.
This game was actually fun,
But AC Zero is still the best in my opinion.
DFM just made it fun but too easy (also scripted DFM is annoying)
the turret sections... well its stupid
helicopter missions were a bit meh
Agreed.
I was fan since the phenomenal Ace Combat 3 on PS1, the PS2 titles rocked too, I was not disappointed by Assault Horizon but I felt something was lost in the transition to this generation.
I frakking miss Ace Combat 5...
Does anyone else or am I alone in the world?
"The Demon of Razgriz"
(the Demon from the North Sea)
When history witnesses a great change Razgriz reveals itself ,first as a dark demon. As a demon it uses it power to rain death upon the land ,and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
The Demon of the world of Fairytales
The Demon from the North Sea"

you brought a tear to my eye.
:')
i feel you i miss it so much
Never forget the Razgriz Squadron.
Still have it lol never getting rid of it.
what makes this game good for people that have never played ace combat before is what makes it terrible for those of us who have played a REAL ace combat before. disappointed with this game
good for you
an old ghost of razgriz + UPEO pilot aproves your coment
OH My GOD THAT MISSION IN THE ICE, demons of razgriz, fucking perfect nostalgic feelings right now
I am a huge Ace Combat fan since Ace Combat 2 and I adore this game. The only Ace Combat game that is total shit is 3, all the other ones are incredible.
I am a huge Ace Combat fan since Ace Combat 2 and I adore this game. The only Ace Combat game that is total shit is 3, all the other ones are incredible.
Ace Combat 4 was my favorite. Just saying.

''Amidst the blue skies, a link from past to future. The sheltering wings of the protector... The flames of hatred scorch the skies, igniting Gaia's funeral pyre...''
Atl essa Isn't that from AC5?
I think you have the most mature comment on this video.
fuck brakes, dude! full speed all the way!
But how you gonna turn fast?!?!?!
Or disengage when you are in a energy fighter such as the F-14 and the Mig 31 and reengage once you can take them out with out getting in the loop.
So yes, instead of turning around in circle for 10 minutes now we follow invisible tracks for 10 minutes. Wow..
Call me crazy, but I actually like the first Hawx game better than this. In fact, I still play the first Hawx game - although I don't play Hawx 2.
my thoughts exactly, hawx 1 was better than this, but HAWX 2 seems too bottleneck on the controls, not the same feels as HAWX 1 (based on demo)
HAWX? Where you circle around waiting to get a view or how about just generally avoiding crash when attacking ground units.
HAWX 2 sucks ass for it's own reasons. I can find at least 5 flight sims better than HAWX 2.
"Flight simulator on drugs""""
Ace combat has this unique sense of intensity that most fighter pilot games. Shattered skies had some of the best balance of story telling and game play of the series.
Ace combat 5 was my favorite.
Unsung War FTW
Anglo Varangoi The Belkan War is my fav, only just beating out The Unsung War by a photo-finish.
One thing that surprised me was that the f35 could out perform and out turn the su 35, even though the su 35 is far superior in dog fights and can fly circles around the f 35
That's because the F35 is a fifth generation fighter and the su-35 is a fourth generation fighter
Ross RKP99 doesn't mean that the f35 has better performance
***** because its a american game
how could you actually think a "Russian jet" could out perform a "modern american jet"
i know it would in real life but its an american game sooo, lol
Its an arcade game not a full sim.
alberto viernes Ace Combat is a japanese franchise.
This game really sucked for me. The older games had better soundtrack and story. It had better combat system.
Indeed,i bought Assault Horizon thinking it would be like the old Ace Combats...and then that DFM crap shows up
+César Felipe refund
+BattlefireTV Yeah, my favourite was Skies of Deception, literally was the best PSP game that I owned.
Even Andy Mine was Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.
+BattlefireTV Oh the memories...
Damn,I'll have to get my old PS2 now XD
Can't wait for Ace Combat 7 Angry review
I actually downloaded and tried out this game just recently just because I really enjoyed playing Ace Combat 2 on my emulator. It's by no means a bad game, it's pretty well-made actually and it can be really fun a times, though also VERY frustrating, especially with those annoying cut-aways and some really arbitrary time limits. I'd give it a solid 6.5/10, but the DLC is absurdly overpriced and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so make it a 5.5.
That why u should have keeper an eye out for the enhanced edition. Free DLC YYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYYYY
This game was awesome, but I have to say that my favorite is still Ace Combat 5.
I'll drink to that!
if they combined the fight system with ace 5's in depth storyline, plus the awesome music they continue to use...it could be one epic game...
Amen to that!
No love for AC0: The Belkan war? :(
Never played it :S
I can't take any review seriously of anyone who hasn't played any other ace combat
Well its set in Strangereal...
+Friendly yoyo Bingo. This game introduced me to AC, and I think that's how it's intended to be enjoyed; if this is the worst game in the series, and it's _this_ fun, the other games must be masterpieces, and they are.
I can't but agree. This is actually my first try of AC game.
Kroposman 230 yeah this was my first ACE combat then I tried 5
Honestly, I liked the overall concept of DFM, with the idea of tossing you right in there and letting you see the damage up close, but at the same time, I felt it was very resritctive and rails-y.
If he thinks this game is good he should play ace combat 6, that was amazing
ace combat 6 was a bit meh. Too much talk of angels, not fond of the character development, and it was literally Air to Ground Combat 2.0 now including extra missile smoke that will make you hit a Mountain.
Kidapollo18 ace combat zero is the best in my opinion.
As a pilot, I can say with certainty that this was one of the worst flight simulator/fighter games ever. I've never managed to feel like I'm on a rail shooter without really being on one.
it's an arcade game.
Yea, but I've played previous Ace Combats, and this one was an embarrassment from the past.
TheSwedishAssassin Ace Combat 4 was the best
Just turn it off. I keep it on the classic settings. Love ACE COMBAT ZERO!!!
KaiserToons Studios Y'know? I actually tried to figure out which is worse. This or Joint Assault.
I personaly love ace combat..... but with DFM I had so much truble counter-maneuvering that I always got blown out of the sky with a "wtf" feeling....
yeah, I ment with AI bombers while fighters circled around you
well thanks
:D
?
Have you played Ace Combat Infinity yet? You might like it since it doesn't have DFM
I'd take my flight sim to rehab, he just hasn't been the same...
Did you even watch the review? He clearly mentions that.
Watching this review makes me wanna replay the game again
As someone who played every ace combat before this one, I have to say my main issue with this game is not DFM (well I do hate it but only because it's forced rather than just a cool new alternative) but with the fact this game is in the boring, shity real world rather than in......you know.....THE COOL UNIVERSE YOU SPENT EVERY PAST GAME BUILDING?!
The only theory I have for why in the mother of fuck they would throw strangereal away like that is because of how close the timeline was getting to finally returning to ace combat 3's time period. For anyone who played the original, Not horribly gutted JP version of that game there was quite an.....um.....interesting story there that I have been wanting to see a sequel to for awhile now (In addition to a translation or remake of 3 so I don't have to read external sources just to know wtf was going on.)
But unfortunately they probably never will because from what I heard the japanese fanbase hated AC3 and liked 2 alot better.
SkyEye approves this claim!
They need to remake the series for next gen consoles (both, because no one deserves to be screwed out of these games)
DFM could be improved a lot if it was only done on aces or was a once a mission "easy kill" sort of deal. Should they also add a multiplayer (I think a B7R last man standing thing would be cool to add, just as a extra thought), have servers that allow DFM, and servers that don't.
2017 and i miss playing this game. When i can find it imma buy it
I've played some of the earlier AC as far back as electrosphere (number 3), I love the franchise but I gotta say I disagree with most other fans, I think DFM really adds something, the action becomes more intense and fast-paced, you see more planes close-up.
Alright that's my rant for the week, I'm done.
was shitty game made for newfags
Well IGN said:
"Its Call of Duty in the air."
***** i cant even call it that, CoD was great source of memes and has a nice tactile feedback when you shoot ppl, this game dont have that
Well Project Aces said that this game was an experiment though that doesn't excuse the shit story
***** EXPERIMENT: FAILED
It's the kind of game you play for the fun, not story. It wasn't that bad
and as for it being "Scripted," pretty much *EVERY* combat flight game with some kind of story is considerably scripted.
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation was WAY better then this game.
Hey Joe! You should play "ACE COMBAT 7 SKIES UNKNOWN" when the game comes out on January 18. Get the game when it gets release. Beat the game and do a review about it. us and the fans will like to see you do a reviews about the game. Thanks! :D
Random Angry Review Playthrough Review 11 /180 November 26 2019
Nice one AJ good job mate
Not to mention the absolute blandness that is Bishop and Markov.
demonfikry Well said.
demonfikry you are just a fanboy
It's not a bad game. It just doesn't feel as good as its predecessors. I like it, but in my opinion DFM was excessively scripted, and the storyline is terrible compared to the predecessors.
PS and always in my humble opinion the final boss fight from Belkan War is the best final boss in history
I hate it. It isn't a bad game, it just isn't ace combat.
the New modes of game... alternative
the New modes of game... is alternative
+Alejandro ZP As in you don't have to activate them but it's almost impossible to take down anyone outside of DFM? Yeah, sure.
2:29 Um, a question for any pilot or aeronautical engineer, but would that pilot flying out of the damaged aircraft be dead already by a strong blow to the head due to the explosion, or still conscious to be flying out of the cockpit? Just a fellow aviation fan asking.
It is possible for him to be still alive if he ejected from the aircraft.
Joe you should reeeeeally play AC4,5,0 and 6. they are in my humble opinion masterpieces
its not based on alternate worlds like the previous ones. its more realistic in the sense its american and its allies vs russian forces dont really think they would say anything like that
yeah i know, and if someone prefer it this way there's really nothing wrong, personally i prefer the older ones set in strangereal, especially for the story, tough i think that the other AC are superior gameplay-wise too (especially 6)
i'm curious to find out how the hybrid storyline from infinity is gonna turn out
miss ace combat 4 aw man tanks are just steel cofins when hes around
Explained that perfectly lol couldnt have said it better myself!
I'd love to see a battlestar galactica game with a lot of these mechanics
I hope Ace combat 7 will show Joe what a real ace combat game is about. :D
-T.R.P. Over and Out.
go back to watching your cartoons, kid.
chris deyoung You play TF2 rofl lmao.
yeah, you got a problem with that?
AC4 Was ther best
Rigby So do I, its better than any first person shooter out there too, you know why, little boy?
Because it takes SKILL.
I just didnt like how you couldnt shoot shit unless you did the 'lock on and follow the enemy through obsolesces' mode. If you shot them normally they would be immune to damage, Forcing you to use it.
That was annoying but have u heard AC7 is using dfm 2.0. U know what they called it. D.I.Y dfm, u learn to do epic manoeuvres on ur own
+Voss2120
Not really, if that happens to you a lot on every enemy, then you just suck. However I really hate it that the game needs you to do the DFM to advance the mission.
Game is still good, but not a great ace combat game. I get the feeling they did this as a way to get COD fans into ace combat and to compete against HAWX
+RazgrizOne I agree still I think the game is more for fun and trust me playing this will help on AC7
ElectricPyroclast Your opinion...
Ace Combat 5 > Ace Combat 4 > Ace Combat Zero > Ace Combat X > (Every remaining game in the franchise that I'm forgetting) > Ace Combat AH
How is five above 3?
+Andrew Rogers Not alot of people outside Japan played the "real" Ace Combat 3. The export version is a watered down version of the japanese version, which Japan for some reason didn't enjoy as much as Ace Combat 2.
+Console_Pheasant Gameplay wise it's a downgrade, storywise best in the series cause it was written by anime writers.
Lol 8/10. Maybe for new players. Actual fans of the ac series would say 2/10 with a burn it in your backyard seal of approval 🤣🤣
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was one of the best flight-simulator games I've ever played!!!!
I'm just left with the realization that I'll will never to play it no more 😢
Worst ace combat game and not a sim
Joe, if you've never played any other ace combat, ID severely recommend Ace Combat 6:Fires of Liberation. The story in it will tear at your heart a bit. Some of the speaches will give you chills too.
I'd rather play Ace Combat 6 than Ace Combat: Assault Horizon.
There is only one Ace Combat in my life and thats Unsung War.
+Solaris 4 is worth a shot
+Solaris zero is the best. but razgriz, galm team, they make assault horizon character look like cardboard. the cut scene in 4 ought to win an oscar
Whats the song at 0:12 !? That shit crazy!!
Dean Murphy It's called "Keep Alive" from the Ace Combat: Assault Horizon OST. :D
Gundamhalo Mkay. Thanks bro :)
Dean Murphy The dude on drums was killing it. Lol.
I wonder if the guy that he blew out of the enemy jet actually hit joe's wing
i think if you are new to the game series you like it but if your an AC vet and played 3,4,5,6 you will hate it
i played 2,4,5,0, and 6 and think this one is the best of the series.
Yeah fair enough I was just basing this on I and my friends opinion not everyone will agree with it
Corey Barthlett Ace Combat Zero for meh
Really liked 4 for how the story was told but 5 was allround best
i like multiplayer in ACAH. And I wasn't annoyed by anti war pilots or dance with the angels lol.
