    Great vid Rex. I might be wrong but I believe those limiter parts are for the rear arms. Im building mine now & looks like for Tamiya's standard build "MR" these limiters are on the rear arms. If your switching setups, in my case im building the "FR" setup. On the 2nd page of the "FR" manual there is a small section that says its recommended to switch wheel positions.
    For my "FR" setup, I have the limiters installed on the rear arms.
    Did i do this right?

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting, I just check the manual and I do see on the MR conversion that pictures show the limiter in the rear! Holy moly! More discovery due to my lack of comprehensive reading 🤣 . Thanks for the information. Although, why do we need them in the back Tamiya?

    • @mdomo1979
      @mdomo1979 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its really strange. Not sure if this was an oversight from Tamiya but I just noticed the box art shows MR with limiters on the back & then for FF & FR the limiters are on the front...I'm confused! I'm gonna leave mine on the rear for the FR setup. I can only guess its there to save the dogbones incase one of arm links pop off 🤷

    Great and honest video Rex. But in the end I would leave off tbe limiters and dual-rate the steering.

    These things happen, at least you found the issue, I am leaving my BT-01 as FR and used M03 stub axles that I had left over from back in the day. These don't have any drive cup to get in the way.

    I think steering limiters are kind of silly in general. Like, your EPA can more or less take care of that. Anyway… it’s always fun to have to break the manual back out and humble yourself. Keep it up. Perfect Tamiya platform to introduce the shirt!

      steering limitiers have one real use: if in a one off race class, make sure evryone has the same max steering.

    Hey Rex once the weight of the car is on the ground it will spin freely usually. Using after market shocks will further allow you to adjust the height of this.
    Ive just finished making mine 4WD super fun !

    • @schuttrostig5729
      @schuttrostig5729 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes but in a corner where the inside wheel comes up to max extend the inside will be slowed down trying to make the car spin out. so better use shorter screws there or leave the limiters away.

    Heh, my first thought was to check the manual for screw length, as that would be a bit of a lazy oversight by Tamiya :D Seems like a bit of superfluis part tho, if there already is a limiter on the upper arm. Nice shirts too btw :D

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, this isnt the first time I’ve done something wrong and wont be the last haha. Im curious why there is a steering limiter on both top and bottom, perhaps extra uneeded strength? Tamiya is funky. The shirts ship to your location as well, I have a supplier overseas 😉

    • @tm5123
      @tm5123 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I put the diffs in the wrong way on my first TT-02, and had the front and rear wheels spin in opposite directions, which was weird for a moment. 😆 I dunno why tamiya would reinforce that, maybe they've had some issue with previous models they've encountered, and done a fix for it. :) @@rexrcs

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting, once I switch back to FF (probably never) I will look into your curious thought and see what we find, perhaps youre right, extra protection so we don’t lose dogbones like on the base TT-02 models. Appreciate you stopping in the chat 🤘

  • @paulblack3608

    I'd guess the limiter is for dogbone preservation just like in the tt02 cars. If using rwd and no front bones, no need for the limiter at all. Also may turn sharper if wanted.
    Ugh! what is with Tamiya and those horrid friction 'dampers'? What a way to easily ruin a nice chassis design. What do plastic oil shocks add to the price? 50 cents? So weak. Tamiya come on!
    I have two tt02 cars and I love them but the shocks and bearings were the very first upgrade bought before ever even starting the build.
    Cheers. Nice T shirts. I'm definitely RWD and/or AWD. No use for FWD at all. Lot's of old ladies I know like it though. good in the rain and all that crap. :)

    • @rexrcs
      @rexrcs  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oil shocks would be pretty cool out of the box. I think they will make an S and R version though, like they usually do. Due to the chassis having holes for the suspension arms, I’m certain Tamiya will also offer a version with their TRF suspension setup much like the TT-02 S,SR, and SRX
