So, if Japanese build quality and usability were your criteria for putting the Ninja above the CFmoto, then why are you elevating the Aprilia - an unproven entry with, as you stated, limited purpose and unknown reliability- above it?
The Aprillia is in his opinion a "track ready bike". You have to think about what his background is, and what he enjoys doing (which is track time), and take that to the equation. He's just giving his opinion on bikes, it's not the law. Aprillia build quality doesn't seem to be an issue. Reliability however... Different story. In which I feel does hurt it. In my opinion CFMoto at the bottom, 250 GSXR, KTM, CBR500, Aprillia, and then Ninja. But it's a close call for that number 1 spot as they both have their strong and weak points. The biggest weak points of the Ninja is it feels very mass produced and tries to appeal to company profit lines, and the awful sound of that 400-451cc engine with a slip on. Aprillia really needs to work on their electronics (as does every company that builds ANY vehicle in Italy) and reliability. Now I don't follow beginner bikes anymore and if someone ask me what I'd suggest to start on, I'm going to tell them a Ninja 400/500 just from my own personal experience with learning to ride on a 400.

Yammie, my 2024 CBR 500R is better than the Ninja 500 SE hands down. Honda quality, looks so much better not cheap like the 500 SE. Brake system better, display is great, 75 mpg and just all around better quality. You know when purchasing a Honda you won’t have to worry about braking down anytime soon. Yes, it weighs more than the Ninja 500 SE, Yes it costs more too. But in the end the 2024 Honda CBR 500R is worth the extra cost. As a beginner rider I’m not revving the hell out of my bike, I’m not going 100 mph, I’m not trying to show off… I’m learning to ride in a well built machine Honda . To my beginner thinking about what to pick… Honda is quality Change my mind
Honestly, you're buying reliability and quality when you buy Honda, not wrong at all. It's just that the bikes a bit out dated, like the 250 GSXR. I'm a firm believer that you ride what you like. I started with Kawasaki, and had great luck with them. They are a bit "mass produced" feeling, but in general, solid trust worth bikes. Now the GSX8R I replaced my Kawasaki's with, well, it feels better to me, love the styling, and it's provided me with great smiles. Sure I could have bought a few other bikes at the $8500 price range some used, some new. But something made me gravitate to the 8R. I only want to upgrade for something as capable every day, and a bit more comfortable for longer hauls and getting on the interstate for road trips. Now, if I take that same logic and apply it to cars, I stepped out of my comfort zone so to speak and bought a hybrid. 8 months in, I'm ready to get rid of it as it lacks that X factor that I need for the weekends. It's not a BAD car, in fact, it's actually really good. For a Hybrid. But it does lack somewhere. Maybe the CBR will become that to you over time, but for the time being, I'm glad you're enjoying it. Just know, in the world of petrol enthusiast, we'll all knock each other for buying something else. Be it Ford vs Chevy, Honda vs Toyota, V8 vs 4Cyl, Cruiser vs Sport Bike, 2cyl vs 4cyl. Whatever. The thing is not to get upset about it and just take the punches and roll with them. Most people (except harley owners) don't take it too serious.

Yamaha and suzuki are lacking in this category. The R3 refresh was unnecessary in my opinion. Instead they should’ve r&d a new powerful 399/450cc 270 cross plane parallel twin and it would sell like hot cakes and would rob all of cfmoto 450ss buyers and cross shoppers. Yamaha definitely knows its game over for ninja 500 if they ever release an R4/R5 to replace r3 with the specs I mentioned above. Suzuki just needs an amazing platform in this category instead of them sticking with the Gsxr 250 cuz merican roads are too fast for it.
I think as Americans we tend to think they need to design bikes just for us. But in reality, they are building these for most of the world. Take the Kawasaki Elminator. Essentially the Ninja 500 just slightly reworked. In America, not that big of a seller despite being a great learner bike and almost comfortable enough for a 2hr straight ride (depending on rider height). Now you look at sales in Asian markets, and they are buying this thing up like crazy. At least Japan is still producing 4cylinder liter bikes for the states despite having to drop them in Europe due to emissions. I guess someones gotta try to keep tabs on the BMW S1KR.
Was in my dealer yesterday and they had a Ninja 400, 500 and R3 sat beside each other. I'm considering my entry into the sport bike offering, R3 looked cool but the 400/500 felt more approachable and had the big bike look. Nice ergo's. Price wise, the 500 was a little over €100 more then the 400, new. There is a nice black 500 that I currently have in the lead.
For 30$ you can get a factory plug for the cfmoto450ss. The wiring is already there behind the cover where the plug goes. We got one and it worked perfectly. It's nice that cfmoto already had the bike set up for a charging port from factory. Sad they didn't include it tho.
Check the fine print on the swingarm of the Ninja 500. Betting it was made in Thailand, not Japan. So perhaps it doesn't have that highly-touted Japanese quality which makes you favor it over the CFMoto.
There is no "best" bike, or winner, of any class. The answer is always what is best for YOU. For me, in this class, the ninja 500 is not the best bike. In this class I wanted the best track bike and that is the Aprilia rs 457 by far.

I think it’s all just down to the highway speeds. In California, people are often easily over 80mph on the freeways, so you need a bit more power than a 300 can make if you want to go in the highway without trucks and SUVs constantly brushing past you
@@slightlyenlightenedlayman yeah no kidding. I hated taking a Ninja 400 on the interstate doing 70ish miles per hour (110-125Ks for your euros). Even a small pick up from the 90's going by you doing 80 would kick up enough wind turbulence to blow you around in the lane. Terrible experience. I did it once, and never took that bike back on the interstates again. Thankfully my 8R is happy and comfortable doing 100mph down the interstate so no worries there!
Interesting, that's why I pray that I will ride in the US one day, personally I have never been on or owned a bike that goes beyond 90ish mph. But as a beginner I think that if I was in the US I would probably be avoiding highways and freeways a lot.

@@MrKillervincentbut the 400/500 platform would be so much more lively if they’d get it up to the 70 hp mark. 650 is an extremely dull and weighty bike.

In my country we barely have roads actually if you get above about 85mph here that is described as overspending.
I just started riding again after 20 years (got re-ended badly and wrecked my spine). Finally back at it. On a beginner bike that no one knows, but its pretty big in Asia and particularly India - the Zontes R350. This is is a cool naked bike with a bunch of tech for the price point. Also great for slow speed controlled moves (though I still hate figure 8). Any experience with this bike?
The question I still have is how close can the Ninja 500 get to the 650 before they are essentially the same choice
As close as it is now, the 400/500 can't make any more power or it won't be a2 legal, the 650 needs a restrictor to be a2
@@MrKillervincentbut the 400/500 platform would be so much more lively if they’d get it up to the 70 hp mark. 650 is an extremely dull and weighty bike.
The 500 is already a better motorcycle, if you weigh under 160 may as well get the 500
The irony of these videos after he's been shitting all over the Ninja 500 for the longest time...
Hoping they overhaul the RC soon.
Don't want a Ninja 500. Not because I think they are bad, just because I don't want one. I didn't win the RS 457 so now I'll wait until you have another Tuono 660 Factory or a 2025 Triumph Trident 660. Word is the Taureg 457 is a real thing so that should be interesting. I'd be willing to get a Tuono 457 if they made one but I've heard nothing on that.
owning a cbr 500r makes me feel daddy yam is ashamed of me
You made a smart decision.
as my first bike I really like the zx-4rr.
Yam! Where would you put the KLX300sm in the lineup? I know it's kind of a different class but I'd still consider it a beginner sport bike. Surely it's better than the gsxr250
The RC 390 is amazing on track. Add some Dunlop Tyres and it's perfect out of the box.
Does the Slipper Assist Clutch, on the 2025 R3, make it more fun to ride? All the other updates on it seem superficial to me. 🤔🤷😉
Easier and smoother clutch engagement. Easier to ride, so i would say more fun yes. At least it looks like an R bike now. Gonna get smoked when someone tries to race you though, but still a great bike to learn on👍🏼
Ninja 1100sx review when?
Would you say RS457 beats the Ninja 400 also?
I'm curious as to which bike actually tracks better between the Ninja 400 & 500
New R7 with the gold forks or new Mt-o7 in Ice blue color? 🤔 i only ride on the street, but will be a weekend toy
Lol cf Moto loses for Chinese build quality, aprilia wins for Italian/indian build quality. It's takes like this that keep me watching 😂
Waiting for the 2025 R3 to hit the showroom, can't wait to get mine♥
Its the same engine, but new stying with looks good and no more pumpkin blinkers. Needs a new twin though
Hi, can you compare Ninja500 to Ninja650 please?
Just go sit on them, I sat on a 650 and it felt to small to me and I'm only 5,10 and 140 pounds
Hi!!, I was thinking about getting a Zontes GK-350, what do you think of it and the whole Zontes brand??
I live in Spain and Zontes has gain a lot of popularity, the only thing is that is a chinese bike.
All this 400-500cc should cost like 5-6k out the door, kinda stupid for a beginner you have to pay near 10k for that garbage parallel twin sound
Cfmoto 450 uses 270 degrees crankshaft
Im 6’4” and want a ninja 400 or 500. Can anyone tell me if its a good option for my first bike as a tall guy?
Considering your height, I would look into the sports adventure segment.
Your video was post today and you show a picture on an older model r3?
Jak by zrobili taka z większym silnikiem i bakiem paliwa w tej cenie z szerszym kołem to by im się świetnie sprzedawało
They will update the r3 what do you think of it?
ahh..
I am/was looking at the 2025 R3 and the Ninja 500 as a beginner rider idk.. was going to go used originally but no bikes literally in my area :(
Sat on both and the 2024 R3 it kinda felt like home now I am worried if I should go with the Ninja 500 based off this.
@Yammie Noob any suggestions going off a baby rider with just msf course under her belt? I got my M class license literally yesterday :)
Honda - the motorcycle for riders who aren't really into bikes.
What a dumb opinion lol
Abysmal take
If Toyota made a motorcycle, it would be a Honda.
@@williamdavis4809 Exactly
Only because Honda wants that mass market $$$$$, euro is getting a 10k £ cb1000 hornet sp ..... Now north America.... They remember Hiroshima
I wouldn't recommend any of these bikes. Go bigger. These are a waste of money and time.
Am I crazy? Why is Yam not showing the new r3 this is a new video they already showed the new r3 a month ago I know they didn't update anything other than the new one looks like a tiny r1 😁
For a 6'3 man is Aprilia better than Ninja 500?
Yammie, have you had "experiences" or adventures with Booktok girls.😂
He's been married for a long while and with her even longer. I think he was off the market when booktok hit 😆
@@wlt3585 thanks for telling me. I didn't knew that yammie is married. His woman got to be pretty chill to let him do what he does. My uncle's Son-in-law didn't had that luck🤣, because his girl made him sell his bike after they married.
He had a real classy hornet gas tank.
Hope I win would really make my day
Don't forget......CFmoto makes a 300 too.
😂😂😂😂
Its kind of a meh 300, but the price in SEA destroys the 150cc CBR and R15.
How about best 2025 600cc inline 4? How about the real bikes?
Will be buying a motorcycle in the next couple weeks. I’m not sure if I’m going for a RC390 or ninja 500
i was thinking like you,and buyed ninja.....i love it
@@TommyMakalele nice. The biggest thing for me is, I’m a little “older” lol starting out. So I’m not to worried about the being bored eventually or it being small. More the price point, and getting the wife on board by buying something smaller that could be used for other purposes later on.
Ninja will end up being cheaper to own and better resale.
price aside where would you place the zx4rr on this list?
Do you have to be a member to join the discord?
Wait so you have to pay for access to the discord?
Give me the ninjah 500❤😊
Can you talk about cbr250rr
what a better way to do this than to actually physically compare them 🤷♂️ click baiting ahhh💀
NB4 CBR 500 giveaway 😅
Here in the Louisville KY area CF Moto is no where, which is disappointing because it does seem like a cool brand
I fucking love my clx700. I sold my ninja 400 for one and I'm so fucking happy. With a tune and an exhaust , it is a pretty fucking amazing bike if you don't need to go above 100mph
They sell them at a dealership up in Covington. It's the nearest one to me here Dayton Ohio.
@@teej1987 Mine goes 130+ with my 210lbs on board. I have the sport model but I dont think that matters.
Yamaha needs to do a r5/mt05 . The r3/mt03 is absolutey obsolete at this point
How is it obsolete? Poor countries love this "obsolete" motorcycle
Should I get a ninja 500 if I am 6 foot and 235 pounds?
Go sit on it. I was interested in a rebel 1100 when they were announced and went to sit on one.... I was on and off in 30 seconds and have never paid it any attention since, it was single handedly the most uncomfortable motorcycle I've ever sat on - you have to go see yourself.
I'm 5'11 inches 70 yrs old and drive a kawasaki z400 2022 which is same as ninja 400cc and new 500. After riding for a hour I'd get leg cramps. Step up to kawasaki 650 versys.
The Ninja 500 is redundant and so is this video.
I FOUND OUT I CAN TURBO + NITROUS MY 2022 DUCATI STREETFIGHTER 2022 V4 SP(2)
I really can't believe the CFMoto hype.... Here it's just a crap Chinese brand.
They are decent bikes. I have one. Just as good as most other budget bikes and the ones made in India/Indonesia
