    Thanks for your work and analysis. Eye opening for sure. Now, I'm sure you'll get lots of push-back from the haters on this, but facts are facts and what better way to do your comparative analysis than based on pricing a basket of products. The thing that I checked back in 2007 when I started looking into the forex market was broker registration (which you mandated), and company capitalization (which turned out to be key in 2015 with the Swiss crisis). Just those 2 requirements left me with just a handful of brokers I thought I could trust from a stability standpoint, and that made it easy to select one based on products, spreads, platform, funding requirements, and a chat with one of their brokers.

    Tom’s a legend and while the sentiment behind this video is valid in reality it’s flawed. He’s comparing quotes, he needs to compare fills.
    None of these CFD or spread bet guys are real brokers, they are betting shops. They set the price and they are the counter party for the ‘bet’. If a market gets volatile they are not going to take a loss on your bet, they will slip the price you get ‘filled’ at, or worse, you simply won’t get a fill on a limit order.
    For an FX broker get one that offers direct market access to good liquidity. For other instruments get direct access to the exchange it is traded on. You will need to pay a commission but it’s a lot less than paying an artificial spread even if it’s ‘fixed’.

    There is of course a huge "gotcha". In order to trade on TD365 with fixed spreads you're forced to use their cloudtrade platform. The only other option is MT4 but you're stuck with variable spreads. Cloudtrade is, by a very large margin (pardon the pun), the worst trading platform known to man. I'd suggest it's probably why this otherwise fantastic broker is relatively unknown. If they offered the same rate fixed spreads using MT4, or cTrader, I think they'd have vastly more traders on board. I could live with the inferior charting experience, but the order management on cloudtrade is unacceptable.

      I used their cloudtrade platform and I still had variable spreads on top of the "fixed" spreads so the price we pay is variable and looked about the same as IG to me, slightly better but this whole "TD365 has fixed spreads" is a lie. It has fixed spreads and then other dynamic spreads on top. It is making me doubt Tom tbh.

    The real market doesn't have fixed spreads only fixed commissions. These retail brokers have low liquidity and sometimes fictitious prices. If you are a highstakes trader why don't you trade with a prime of prime broker?

    • @TraderTom
      @TraderTom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tom, that requires an explanation. I am allowed to trade the equivalent of 30 contracts (£300 a point) at a 0.4 spread. The book itself will probably have 10 lots on either side of a bid-ask of a minimum of a half on FTSE. In addition to that I am not paying commission nor do I pay exchange fees. That is an enormous edge in my scalping that no prime broker would ever offer. In the Nasdaq I can trade £200 a point at 0.8. That is just damn outright the tightest spread on God's green earth. I want you to contact me if I can 35 nasdaq lots at 0.8 with no commission or exchange fee anywhere, and no slip, no partial fill...challenge over to you.!!!!!

    • @tomsaywer8403
      @tomsaywer8403 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TraderTom I understand that you are getting a good deal with that retail broker and that suits well your lot size and trading style but when you are trading big size the quality of the fills are more important than the spread+commission. What's the maximum lot size of your broker on the major FX pairs? Rakuten Australia competes with TD365 in the same fixed spread market niche.

  • @jasondoesinternet
    @jasondoesinternet 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One thing you failed to mentioned was how brokers, particular 'free' brokers, use delaying tactics to leverage spreads in their favor, essentially if you hold a position and it jumps up 10%, it's treated as volatility and the sell price lags behind the stock price, not offering a fair share of the profit, so you have to wait longer for the stock to settle to make it worthwhile, but if the stock falls, the sell price reflects this instantly and drops much further and faster. This hedges the system against the trader, making them more likely to lose money than make money as they either have to hold a position for longer or sell at a much lower price. When they say 76% of CFD traders lose money, that 26% above the 50/50 chance is likely the amount the system is leverage against them.

    • @LennieClausen_dk
