I’ve played bass for decades and made a decent living at it until Covid struck, I had to turn to acoustic to get more work, your videos were invaluable in getting me to where I could strum out chords and learn songs quickly. Thank you so very much 🙏 Keep er lit as we say here in Ireland.. happy Christmas to you and yours 🎄🎄🎄oh and my favorite is I’m a believer hands down 😅
Andy thank you! These are awesome! I began my guitar journey at age 65 and am now almost 67, so these songs are right in my era!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!!!
That's really great stuff, Andy. Me, also an Andy, struggled years to find out how to play my favourite songs from the time when I was a teenager. Thank you so much. This Video-Clip and all your others are a gift to me, indeed.
Just getting into learning the guitar. What are the the names of the two different playing styles you give here? The top sounds like lyrics while the bottom would be music? I’m not sure how to word what I’m trying to ask. Hopefully you understand.
Really great tuition video, oh how I wish I had seen this when I was learning and then gave up as felt I was getting nowhere, many years ago. So admire anyone that can play these amazing instruments and love your method of teaching! Thanks for these.
Great vid, do you have vids of the top guitar ? Have you also done dukes of hazzard? Dollys Harper Valley PTA I wonder how many want to play because they hear a few opening notes of a song, blues or whatever. I do like that style guitar on top and below.
Hello, Great guitar tutorials, but you are the first I have heard pronouncing Crowley wit the long O. I often references Ozzy to get my family's pronunciation ( I am descended of Yorkshire folk) with the ow ( owl. towel ,ouch) sound. Apart from that, great work.
Hi Andy, Just found your channel and have definitely subscribed, I’ve been playing guitars for many, many years ( now aged 76) and still doing a bit🤩 As they say, ‘ you are never to old to learn’ Absolutely LOVING your channel ❤️❤️🙏🙏 If I dare to ask, would you consider doing some tips for some traditional Country Music and maybe Cheek to Cheek? Thanks again for the fab tuition and tips. Merry Christmas and a belting New Year to you. Paul
Thank you Andy for lessons like this. I grew up with these songs and love them. They really sound good on your guitar, what is the brand and model, I would like to check one out. Thanks again.
Runaround Sue uses 4 chords only but it is not repeated identically throughout the song Brown eyed Girl is actually more complicated than 4 chords. Caveat to those that your version is simplified.
Ya runaround sue does have that change, but I've only used 4 cords for brown eyed girl, but do you know the original name of brown eye girl, because back then ,sadly you couldn't say, brown skin girl.
It has more than 4 chords, so it doesn't qualify. It definitely would for a top songs of the 60s video though! What other songs would you add to the list?
That's the trouble with guitars and most guitar players. They learn three or four chords and think they are musicians. They can't read one note of music, don't know any of the other sybols, like a rest or anything else. Can't play any melody. All they can play is chords which is really just back ground for the melody. As you can tell, I don't like a guitar.
Who cares if YOU don't like guitar. Some of the most famous musicians in the world never learned to read music. I'd rather listen to someone play who has natural talent and can't read music than someone who is formally trained and can read music but has no natural talent regurgitating notes from a music sheet.
@@regmanzer7336 That's the trouble. You call it natural talent and most only know a few chords. A REAL musician knows how to read music, the notes, the length of notes, the rest, the tempo, how many beats, and a lot more. They can play the melody, along with the harmony at the same time. Most people who play a guitar have no idea how to play this way. They just know a few chords and that is NO TALENT AT ALL.

Yes I am, I have a full beginners course on piano planned! But I don't know a timeline yet. So much to do on guitar! 🎸
Thanks Andy. One cannot have too much chord practice.
Animals - House of the Rising Sun...

i just wanna know how house of the rising sun isnt on here. that song is the greatest thing that came out of the 60s
It has more than 4 chords, so it doesn't qualify. It definitely would for a top songs of the 60s video though! What other songs would you add to the list?
@@andycrowley ohh fair enough haha, didnt see the 4 chords parts haha
Sorry, but nope..... have to go back a few more decades for the original house of the rising sun.

I really like that!¡! But what about pink Floyd wish you were here?¿?
That has more than four. E minor 7, G, A7sus4, C, D and A minor.
aren't there only 5 major cords not counting minors 7ths 9ths etc? There are only 12 notes
