Well, C D put that 3K to good use and come over. I have a non-profit practice channel. Just a hobby for me. I'm looking for some players, well, that like to play. I assure you I'm not a spammer, I have nothing to sell. I have no idea what music you even like, but I have to start somewhere, I have to try.

Charles, thank you so much. I hope I will inspire some practice time from you. People won't get better if they don't play. It is good to watch and learn when you can, (I do it too) but you have to make time for yourself, to do it for yourself. I hope I can help you in my way - to let you enjoy an easy carefree way to practice the guitar.

I have been playing guitar for over 30 years and this is a revelation for me. Some people just have the gift, which I have always been pretty jealous of. I have always had to work hard on my playing and understanding of cord structure. Goes to show you are never too old to learn as long as you are willing to discover. Thanks young man for opening an old mans eyes and giving him insight into something he has loved longer than most woman in his life. Except Mom :)

One thing that I think I'd mention that isn't in this wheel is the harmonic minor. Using harmonic minors allow the dominant 7 chord progression i-iv-i-V7-i, which I think sounds very nice.

Man. Thank you so much for this. I’m at the stage you were at and I bought a book of chords and I hate it. I’ve always wanted someone to come alongside me and help me where I’m at. I’m a pretty decent guitar player, at least rhythmically, but I hate studying superfluous crap. This is such a lifesaver. Subscribed and liked, my friend.

Can I invite you over, Sorry Der Mensch I don't mean to be intrusive, I'm just a guy here trying to expand his hobby. Not trying to show off, just give people something I wish I had years ago. So I made it. Just like this guy did. Circle of fifths has been around he just put it into a way people can relate to. It sure makes transcribing much easier too. My channel won't be for everyone, but it only takes a minute to check it out. I don't just want to start a channel I want a community.

Also, the 7 chord blocks you see on the circle of fifths create a very easy to remember pattern on the guitar if you group the 3 inner major chords together in a 1-4-5 pattern on the fretboard and then the 3 minor chords together in a 1-4-5 pattern 3 frets down. Super easy to remember.

@@simonvegas793yeh me too and I'm not a beginner. If we play C F G as our major what minor shapes exactly do we play 3 frets down? So, C major is related to A minor, but what does 3 frets down mean exactly?

As you're a piano man something occurred to me some years ago...my guitar is a piano..kinda.
6 strings all tuned to 5 intervals of a scale. With an E at each side.
Your piano has keys..white for the natural notes, black for the sharps/flats.
      My guitar has frets instead.
So you could view each string as a piano keyboard tuned to a specific note or interval. 6 piano keyboards side by side in effect.
More to the point these keyboards side by side in standard tuning with, like a piano, a full chromatic scale beginning on the interval it's tuned to..12 notes..and every note across and along the fret board is in exactly the right place to enable it to be played. Scales..chords..licks etc. And the whole thing begins again on the 12th fret..13th for F and C.
Then consider all the open tunings...and they work as well...
AND you can add a seventh string and it still works.
12 Notes. 4 of them have no semi-tone between them. One note less..or one note more and it would not work at all.
It always amazes me whenever I think about that..the simple fact you can play the thing.
Even more to the point the fret board is a very complex thing..but it's complexity hides it's simplicity.

I know you're not asking me but; Chords are chords, no matter the instrument. The songwriting process for piano or guitar both can benefit from the Circle of fifths. The songs I have on my channel, my wife can play on her keyboard. Plus the cool thing about her keyboard, it has a transpose button - which works like a capo for the guitar. Not so easy for a piano.

Ian, very few of us are able to grasp the full potential of a guitar. The capabilities seem endless. and any effort to fully understand it might be a lifetime project.
Just as I. You seem to have put some effort into a deeper level of understanding of the instrument. That gives me a feeling of kinship with you in your endless endeavor. I wish you good luck, and pleasant journey. I'm 91 years of age, and still trying working on it!

Great video. I would say learn the 6 chords from the circle (miss out dim chord for now) in the 2 or 3 keys you are likely to sing in, also need the 7 and major 7ths. The 7th of chord 5 leads you back to chord 1 and major7th are just so pretty.
Don't be afraid to change key of a song you like to suit your range. Circle makes it easy to do this
