    Thanks this is much better than taking out a bank loan for the real deal. Nice work!

      Appreciate it! Sure it might take a little longer than just buying the official kits, but Im happy with the results. Plus it adds a little bit of a personal touch to my army!

    I just bought Anvil Industries missile launchers and pinned them to the backs of the Cataprachti.
    That was even bigger save than what you had.

    I'm definitely going to use some of these techniques for my iron warriors

    • @AmnioticlyTanked

      For sure! I probably should have mentioned it, but some of what I showed here can obviously be used for non-terminator models as well

    I think your greenstuff sculpting is getting better if I may say so. The Termys look good!

      Thank you so much! I still find it quite challenging to sculpt, but by breaking the process down into simple shapes and being patient Im getting happier and happier with the results.

    Quick tip: Using Tamiya Extra Thin plastic cement you can create either Sprue goo by melting extra sprue bits into it and using this paste to fill gouge marks or indents then sand it smooth or even scrape it smooth after it cures. the other option is put some cement in gouge, then take plastic shavings and pack them on top, once dry, sand, scrape or whatever to make it flat.

    Brilliant conversion as usual! They look top quality especially when fully painted up.

    You're back! Good to see some more Iron Warriors, really like the ablative armor, reminds me of this one black book art piece of an Iron Hands assault marine in Mk.II with half a breast plate of mk.iv covering one side

      Ahh yes! I actually used a couple of those in my original squad. Far easier than shaving down the wings on the Dark Angels one

    At this point I would have probably just looked into 3D printed parts for the rocket launchers 😅

    hobby files are great to have. There`s 2 sets that are very common. 4 regular ones with a red rubber handle and another, smaller set of 4 with blue rubber handles. Worthy purchase if you ask me.
    Also, Sprue Goo is much easier to work with for gap filling than putty.

    Ive used the havoc launcher from the 30k vehicle upgrade sprue.

  • @Darkfist007
    @Darkfist007 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My fulimentaris termies used the havoc launcher out of the HH predator/rhino kit, since I had them to spare, after I saw the price in CAD for the launcher bits from the DA kit. Great video, as always. While 20-24 doesn't seem like a lot in savings, the thing with this video is, the extra bits are all stuff laying around so you have ideally marked their price off of another conversion or kit, so it is low key saving you way more then the 4 dollars listed. Also when you kitbash stuff like this it feels more like your own armies stuff, rather then just FW kits added to your army.

    I would have personally used plasticard for the crotch panel protectors as then it'd be easier to get them to have clean lines vs the greenstuff ones that look quite rough and more orky than iron warriors. Plus if you buy bread frequently then you have plenty of plasticard sitting around in the form of bread clips.

    If you accidentally gouge too deep I say work with it not against it or try to hide it. Wear your scars proudly.

  • @adampoultney8737
    @adampoultney8737 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just go at it with a sanding stick from the beginning to remove the wings then polish with finer sanding sticks. I do a lot of scale model conversions, it’s the best method. I wouldn’t use a knife for that.
    I’d choose to use a more conventional filler for fixing surface defects, such as revell Plasto. It’s solvent based so adheres as the solvent is the same stuff as in plastic glue. Then use a self levelling Surfacer/primer like Mr Surfacer 1000 and polish it down with a wet fine grit sanding stick.
    Good result regardless and nice sculpting work

  • @paye188

    Big Tip: iconography like those DA wings can just be sanded off using 400 grit sandpaper and then going up from there, my recommendation is (400,600,800,1000) or if you want to do it faster you can just skip 600.

    • @paye188
      @paye188 ปีที่แล้ว

      also another tip for the connection pieces to the armored tabard you can use Pla-plate which is plastic plate you can cut for a more "uniform" look to the connectors

  • @TheMichaellathrop
    @TheMichaellathrop ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are any of the older tank track segments the right size for the crotch plates? Also you should try guitar wire for your cables, the ribbing on it makes it look more inline with the sculpted cables you already see from GW.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they all might be a bit big- but I have some leman russ tracks that I can dry digging up to see. Good call on the guitar wire, I also have some of the green stuff industries tentacle maker that works well for cables too I should have tried

  • @Cilu27
    @Cilu27 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you haven't tried it yet I'd highly recommend Tamiya Plastic Putty for fixing areas like the top of the cyclone launcher. You can spread it out nice and thin and it is ready to sand after about 5 minutes

    I did something similar once after FW scammed me out of one tyrant siege terminator. I bought two groups of 5 but one was missing it's legs.
    Converting a bunch of plastic terminators wasn't actually too hard, since I own a 3D-Printer and was able to print shoulder pads and missile launchers.
    The 9,5 extra terminators were used for character models, so it wasn't all bad.
    Anyway, good conversion you pulled off there, I especially like the extra torso armor, very creative.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you try to contact FW about the missing leg? They are normally pretty good with that kind of stuff.
      None the less, having extra bits to mix into squads for sergeants, or other characters is pretty awesome.
      Pretty chuffed with how the torso armor came out and will probably use that for more conversions going forward as well. I just love the industrial, no frills of it and fits in perfectly for the iron warriors imo.

    For the fine grot sandpaper you can get stuff that's on a foam backing, it's really flexible but also really easy to use. Not sure what you'd call it or search for to get it though as I grab it from work.

    using the casting stick pit of the rivets is smart, i got a similar product from greenstuffworld

  • @livanbard
    @livanbard ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very cool the cheapest option tho would be printing the launchers.
    But that early explanation of why you did showcase the duality of iron warrior pretty much, they are great for stock stuff. But their special stuff ain't special. And that discourage conversions for the army. Since nailing sublet aesthetics with GW stuff is harder than say historical infantry.

  • @AshleyBlackwater

  • @jensskautrup640
    @jensskautrup640 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice solution for the incredibly overpriced fw models. Are the loyal IW? Thinking of the aquilla on the spartan

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! And they were supposed to be traitors, but the aquilla was one of the only vehicle sized transfers on the iron warriors sheet... Its really a fairly bad transfer sheet if I'm being honest.

    While I don't play Iron Warriors, I will be borrowing some ideas here for my 13th Company/Chaos Space Wolves Terminators. Trying to use a lot of Heresy era stuff in them, but still want to use some missile pods. Excellent conversion, and personally I actually really liked the fact that you sculpted the attachment point for the missiles, making it look more angled instead of just gluing it on outright or just squishing it down onto a greenstuff blob and leaving it as is. Small details, most people won't notice it on the tabletop, but I can appreciate the effort.

  • @N0isy665
