    In preparation for turning the boost up on the Supercharged E39 M5, I needed to get some software working so I could data log and monitor what the car is doing. After my tuner recommended Testo I thought I would give it a go and see what data we can get from the stock DME.
    Please do let me know if you have any ideas on what might be happening with the intake air temp sensor.

    If you disconnect the IAT Sensor (remove the cable from the sensor) do you still get a reading? If so, might be shorting under the tap.

    I have this ESS kit on my E39 M5 and that IS NOT how the wiring for the IAT sensor should look, the splices into the MAF wires are connected close the the original MAF plug. In your case someone has messed with you IAT wires and it looks like there's a bad connection or they've wired them backwards. I hope this helps 👌

    Hello I have a m5 e39 ess vt560 with the 92 mm pulley I don't understand why I only have 407 hp and 505 nm at the wheels I have the impression that the car takes the boost too late or the ess mapping is not great

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are big issues with the cars pulling timing. The kit as is is very “safe”. To get the true 560hp at the engine out of it everything need to be perfect. 407whp your probably a smidge over 500 at the engine so not far off.
      Meth, inter cooler and some good fuel are the normal things people start with when improving these kits.
      We will be starting with either meth or and intercooler once we get the car back on the road. Oh and of course a custom tune from HTE instead of the worldwide blanket tune they come with from ess.

      the power I gave is of course to the wheels at the engine I have 487 hp the problem is that I have no engine fault the Vanos are redone and the tests ok what is the octane number in your home? thanks

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopherfontaine8408 Our fuel is between the US 91 and 93 octane. Our pump fuel does not have any ethanol blended in it at all, where the states they have 10% ethanol pretty much everywhere which in turn bumps the octane slightly. Your power numbers are about right for a stock ess kit with pump fuel in average conditions when using the generic ess tune. I wouldnt worry too much, unless you want to start spending more money on mods and custom tuning. You should do a draggy 100-200 run and make some sense of the power numbers. You're up close to 100hp over a stock s62 and that will make a massive difference to actual performance.

      Hello
      Thank you for your reply I know that the power obtained on my vehicle is already correct
      with the draggy I am at 9.7 seconds for the 100/200
      but I still wonder how Ess gets 580 hp with the 92mm pulley
      I have it's still 90 hp more do you think this is due to lower quality gasoline? or something else?
      thank you

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christopherfontaine8408 it will be lower quality fuel and intake temps. the supercharged s62 create a lot of heat which in turn causes timing to be pulled. I bet if you could dyno your car with in the perfect cold dense air and very good fuel you'll be there. Also keep in mind dynos are not accurate for comparisons a 10% fluctuation on a dyno is not uncommon even the same car on the same dyno test a month a apart will show a different power reading. They are really a tuning tool, not a measuring tool. Your 9.7 is pretty quick. Did you time it before the supercharger kit by any chance? I think these stock are 13 or 14 seconds 100-200.

Not in terms of power (although it does add a lot of that too) but when people hear it and see it they lose their minds. Plus, to have boost noise without losing the epic V8 sound from the S62 is my favourite thing in the world haha

      It looks like it is the stock ESS map but it is VERY rich. The previous owner did say he put bigger injectors in to get ready to run more boost but never did. So that combined with the faulty IAT reading could be the reason its so rich
