- Now that the world is opening up to travel again I find myself wanting to collage in my journals when I'm travelling, I was recently travelling to Chicago and in London Heathrow I was that guy sat in Starbucks collaging into his journal........yup that was me.
Having the basics with you when you travel make journalling to much easier, although you don't need to be bogged down with everything so I normally take one of these little folios with me, its full of my basic collage papers and then I add to them as I accrue more stuff for my journal along the way.
These are quick and easy to make and very useful, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I lobe the idea of having a small folio for carrying collage papers on a trip,and I love the idea of making these for happy mail gift sharing pretty papers for my collage, rather than just sending paper in an envelope. Great ideas, Ceri. You do share from wonderful ideas.

Thanks for sharing!! Great idea to make and take - filled with papers - and then I thought make and take and empty one - to fill with 'stuff' collected as I travel - tickets, pamphlets, whatever - and come home with a newly filled one.

These are so cute Ceri. What a great idea for a gift for a crafty friend. You could fill the pockets with some flat ephemera and embellishments and even pop in a gift card for a craft shop. Would make a great Christmas gift. Thanks Ceri! :)

Hi Ceri!! I watched this video and thought, I don't travel & craft, so I doubt this would be good for me. BUT,...when I saw you flip thru it filled with different papers, I thought, I'd love to have that at my desk to pull pieces of paper from. I have a 4-drawer file where I keep all my paper organized. So I get a piece of each kind and make a stack to work from. But "stuff" always ends up on top and then I can't find the PILE!! So I have to make a NEW PILE!! But if I made this, I could just put a good sampling of paper in it, and no more piles! I'm gonna DO that!!

Great idea. I can see how it could make a great mini album to share pictures of a vacation with family or friends. Just put in pages instead of scraps. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. I am going to be making a Christmas themed one. I plan on having the center pages for keeping track of gift ideas for who. Then to check off when purchased. Also after Christmas then to do a little journaling about that holiday season on the extra pages. The top pockets will be to store the receipts. And the bottom pockets to place my handmade gift tags I make, so they are all in one place to have when needed after wrapping. After the tags are gone and the holiday season is over, I plan on storing some photos of the holiday season in those bottom pockets. Thanks again for sharing this project. I just love your videos. You are such a charming English gentleman and I find your videos so relaxing, easy to follow, interesting and enjoyable. You are a true treasure to the mix media art community.

Ceri, I find myself looking back for your projects quite a lot. Just rewatched your video on the traveling folio? For papers. In my mind I had blown up what you made, and I’ve been liking for bags to hold glue, tape, scissors, pens etc. like a craft bug-out bag. Found out that wasn’t what you made at all! But a craft bug out bag isn’t a bad idea! Appreciate the things I learned from you. Have a great day!

I use rubber bands to hold my work together while I work on the project. It can be replaced by an elastic or even a pamphlet stitch binding later.
What a simple but super idea. The pockets could hold focal points or bits of lace. I love the idea of wrapping it with usable fabric. I'm going to my craft room right now!!

Patricia we each convey our thoughts and processes in different ways, I think this is incredibly important as we all digest instructions differently. I for example learn best visually, an instruction manual is useless to me as I just get overwhelmed and shut down.

You can order a leather hole punche ... with the same tips as on your punch. It is the very best because you can put the holes anywhere. It has about 6 or 7 sizes included. Only 8 US dollars.

How marvelous of an idea, Ceri, and for me personally, we have been traveling quite a bit this summer taking short (2-3 hours one way in a car) trips . I’ve wanted to craft along the way but really didn’t want to load up too much; this idea is perfect! Think of how much collaging one could get done with these folios and a glue stick! Thank you for bring this idea to us and for taking us along your process as you put one of these folios together!

These are super cute Ceri. A larger version might be a good idea for organizing your collage fodder all in one convenient book, much like ephemera folders. I'm sad to hear that you didn't get to the big craft stores while you were here. 😢

I'm a card-maker and use a lot of 12x12 printed paper. I cut it into 4" strips to start. I measure the first and second strips but the one that's left after I cut is almost always a little wider than 4". It isn't your measuring, it isn't the trimmer...it's the paper.
