How I turn old book pages into focal points for junk journaling

  • A little while ago Amy at Crafty Cat released a video about creating simple springtime cards, I’ll link it below, after I watched the video it inspired me to try out one of my mixed media techniques on book pages. It was very successful and a great way to use up your glueing pages or pages from a gutted book.
    WARNING, if your paint is too wet or you sponge on too much paint your pages are likely to ripple and distort so make sure you dab the excess paint off your sponge before painting your book page, also paints of a thicker consistency cause less problems.

    What a unique way to add another dimension to a journal. The possibilities are endless! Came across some fab stencils in a charity shop a good while back. They are for stencilling patterns, with icing sugar, or whatever, on top of cakes. Your wonderful idea will have me spending a few happy hours using them. Thank you so much Ceri. Keep up the good work. Love from Ireland.

    Hauser is the name of Priscilla Hauser, a well known decorative painter who often appeared on HGTV years ago when they focused on craft shows. She also published books on the art and was featured in many craft magazines in the US. I think she was credited with 'creating' the shade of green that got her name. I was fortunate to take one of her classes years ago in Oklahoma.

    Love this idea! Also, Hauser green is named after Priscilla Hauser who is an American decorative painter who was very popular decades ago.

    You can use your die cut scraps for the stencils. Tip:Example is the butterfly stamp-you see the over stamp around the edges, I trim it off with an exact-o knife, then I don't get over stamping. Thanks for the fun project. I will make these. I can finally dust off my stamps. Thanks for sharing.

    Ceri- one question. What do you use to mount your stamps on? I like your idea of putting like with like

    • @CeriGriffiths
      @CeriGriffiths  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Renee, I mount my stamps in different away some I don't even bother mounting them, if I have stamps I don't like which are wood mounted I'll remove the old stamp and then stick a new one on in its place, If stamps arrive and they're just red rubber sometimes I'll mount them onto foam mount but a lot of the time I just use a little glue stick and attach them to an acrylic block for use then wash the glue off afterwards...........I'm not a good stamping person, I love them but don't always treat them well.

      @@CeriGriffiths hi Ceri. Thanks for that info. I realize that I asked the wrong question. I’m more interested in how you store your cling stamps. I remember you saying that you store like with like but do you use card stock to put them on or….???? Sorry to be a bother 😔
