    Excellent review. Lovely shots of the bike at the beginning and some really useful info about your thoughts. I had a Mk1 Street back in 2010 coming from a Yam FZ1n and tbh I was a little underwhelmed having read all of the rave reviews. Now this latest model (used) is coming down in price in the UK, I'll have to get a test ride and see if It'll change my mind. Thanks for posting :)

    Yes, I only had a half hour test ride on the 765, so I understand what you are saying. The new 765 reminded me a lot of the MV Augusta Brutale 800 I test rode this spring, being taut, stiff, and with instant power, like a boxer with tight abs, and fast power delivery. The Brutale felt less civilized, and more like well, a brute-all business like a works bike. If Triumph only made a rear hard case as an accessory, it would be the perfect bike. Mybiggest gripe about my bike is that whenever I want to take a day trip, I have to wear a cumbersome back pack, or buy a tank bag, which I personally don't like. I have not seen any aftermarket packs either from day Gibi or other companies.Thx again and I'll try some other rigs to compare( Going this Fri. to a Yamaha demo day for the new Fz/FJ-09 and FZ-10) and to checkout the Kawasaki Z-900!

    thanks for sharing this vid.....to me it seems the bike is very comfortable by the speed this vid is taken.....that means a lot to me because I am no racer(cruising) but the sound is awesome

    Thanks for this vid bro! I currently ride an R6 but I've been eyeing the street triple for awhile and now that they came out with the 765 gen I'm really excited. I'm going to go the dealer tomorrow to take a personal look at this bike. The objective is to just go look but I'm kinda scared I might pull the trigger once I see it.....😬

    • @cantwheelie_rob
      @cantwheelie_rob 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      RoadRash no man, I did go to the dealer but they don't have a demo bike. They told me to do a credit app and get approved then I could test ride. In. Sense the wanted me to buy the bike, test ride it and if I didn't like it they'd tear up the paper work. A little sketchy. Didn't want to do all that. The do have demo bikes. Just not any new street triples. They only had one rs model. The black. But it's in the show room

    Great video and look at the 2018 Street Triple RS. I especially like the colors on this vid, getting to know the new RS, and seeing that white background option on the display.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      poit444 I have it set for auto contrast so it automatically changes from white to dark depending on ambient light. It's a useful feature for helping the rider see the display.

    Even if you say that the seat is lower I had problems with flat footing the ground on the RS compared to my Daytona 675 from 2010 that has way higher seat height but waaaaaay slimmer saddle/seat. The new ST3 is so good though... Light, nimble and super sharp handling, I dont think there is a more poised bike out there, Daytona is not in production anymore so st3 765 is the sharpest out there.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pillokun I heard a rumor that Triumph may make a Daytona with the 765 powerplant.

  • @bobvandick2546
    @bobvandick2546 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice. I had a positive experience with my 2013 Tiger. However, I found that for longer trips I needed a little more wind protection than the Tiger afforded me. Triumph stopped producing their sport tourer (sprint st), so I had to look elsewhere. I ended up getting a 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 1000, which has been great on longer trips. I'm now looking for a second bike that will be more for short trips and around town. I'm really interested in looking at the street and speed triples. What made you pick the street over the speed?

    I would be interested in your continued observations of your new street triple. What other bikes were you considering and why did you decide on the street triple?

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bob Van Dick I was considering the Aprilia Tuono. The Tuono was a few thousand out of my price range.
      I decided on the Street Triple since I have 10 years of positive experience with the Triumph Triple motors.
      I owned a 2007 Daytona 675 which I rode for four years and put on over 74,000 miles. I also owned two second generation Street Triples and now I have the new RS. Lots of positive experiences over the past decade.

    • @roadrash76

    Couple questions, what grade gas? How's the build quality. And I've heard some issues with noisy brakes. I know the factory has improved on their metallurgy process on their engines, but any issues yet?

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      scorpion251970 I don't know the fuel octane as I have not filled up yet. I need to read the manual. I'll get back to you on that.
      The front brakes are slightly noisy but only during light braking and under slow speed conditions.
      No issues yet but it's still too early. I don't anticipate any issues. This is my fourth Triumph and they just get better with each new generation.

    Nice bike! Lots of good information. I guess my big question is how would it be to sit on for 5-6 hours on a fun day ride? Could you do some light to moderate touring on it?

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michael Seachord For light touring I recommend reforming the seat. The shape is fine, but the padding does compress quickly and I believe 5 hours is too much saddle time on this seat stock.

  • @AOL0321
    @AOL0321 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    RoadRash,
    Nice review. I have a 2013 ST 675S, which I just added a Competition Werkes pipe to, with an ECU reflash as well. Mixed feelings about ever changing the stock pipe(You lose that mid range induction howl when you put an aftermarket pipe on), but I love the bike and commute on it fairly regularly. Perfect stock, non adjustable suspension for these roads here in Rockland County, NY.
    I test rode the new 18' ST 765 R model and liked it a lot, sans the seating position, and the adjustable rider modes. (Do we really need to change the ABS, Traction Control, and throttle response for the street? Just keep it full on for all three IMO) The new ST sits higher than my bike, giving a feeling of being on top of, not into the bike.
    What is your feeling vs. your old 675R ST overall, having the new model now? Is it worth the extra money? I noticed a bit of a difference between the two, but not a substantial difference in the power delivery. The dealer here locally will give my the R with my bike as a trade for $7550 out the door. Your thoughts? Should I pull the trigger?

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gregory Ceconi I personally think there is a significant enough difference in performance for the better between the 765 RS and my old 675 to trade.
      You won't be able to tell the difference by just going on a short test ride. You have to take it in some twisties and then you'll notice the difference.
      I ride mine in track mode all the time and I definitely can tell the difference in power. The higher end suspension is also noticeable. I remember my 675 being nimble and sharp in the corners but this bike just handles much better. I have not ridden the 765 R so I can't compare. But the RS was compelling enough for me to trade in my 15 ST R.

    Thanks for the excellent review. I have a 2013 STR 675 R which I love. I only wished for a little more HP and torque at times. How would you compare the new 765 motor with the 675 in terms of power and torque?
    Thanks!

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dev Lish My comparison is that there is a very noticeable difference in power and torque in favor of the RS vs the R. I traded in my 2015 Street Triple R for this new bike because like you i wanted a bit more power. My test ride revealed that the RS had that extra power. Plus the screen on the RS is very nice with lots of good info a rider needs to see.

  • @darylt9994
    @darylt9994 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    is it comparable to most superbikes in terms of power and speed. I know it can go real fast and its very nimble. If you compare to a Z900 or MT09 where is it? i love this bike but would like to know from other bikers on their opinion.
    I've ridden on Japanese, Italian and now looking to change to Thriumph...please give your thoughts on this.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daryl T personally I have not ridden a Z900 or MT09 so I can't compare it. But, it's not lacking power.

  • @yldcard7214

    Have you had a passenger? How does it ride?
    I am debating between this jack of all trades bike soaking with technology or a Honda CBR1000RR. What are pros and cons of this bike against a liter bike in general? Maybe two brothers make an exhaust? Thanks for your insight.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      T W I have not had a passenger on it yet. Honestly, I don't give rides. The only exception is my wife and she only rides with me on my Harley Ultra Limited, which is a big touring motorcycle.
      I would say that this bike with a passenger rides like any other sportbike with two people on it.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      T W I owned a CBR 929RR back in 2001. I prefer the Street Triple RS even though it has less power. It is so much more agile with such amazing brakes that it will have zero problems keeping up with a liter bike in the twisties. Also, the majority of the riding most riders do is on the street. In that environment, the Street Triple is the superior machine. I've ordered an Arrow slip on for the Triumph. just waiting for it to arrive.

    • @roadrash76
      @roadrash76  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      captain blackbeard Comfort is subjective. But for me, one hour on this bike is no problem. The rider's triangle is not cramped. Some may want to soften up the seat a bit.

    • @will-ei5fr
      @will-ei5fr 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I hear you. I just picked mine up this past weekend and am in the break in right now. Mine seems to be set in a "break in" mode and won't really let me build the revs higher than 7k. Unfortunately I'm in the same boat with not being able to ride. It's hot as hell, humid as hell, and is supposed to rain every day for the next week or so here.
